David Beckham will feature in Pro Evolution Soccer 2018

Multi-gold medal-winning and recently retired sprinter Usain Bolt will, rather strangely, feature in the next instalment of Pro Evolution Soccer. Konami has now announced that David "Golden Balls" Beckham will also appear in PES 2018, blonde mohawk and all.

Children of Morta is coming next year, so here's a new gameplay trailer

Children of Morta, a "narrative-driven hack-and-slash roguelike" about the Bergson family, was announced in 2014 and then successfully Kickstarted in 2015. And today, developer Dead Mage announced that it should be ready for release sometime in the first half of 2018, and more importantly put out a new gameplay trailer revealing the progress that's been made over the past couple of years.

Last month, Darkwood developer Acid Wizard Studio released out a live-action trailer to announce that the top-down survival-horror game would finally be released on August 17. Joe said at the time that live-action promos for videogames don't really turn his crank, and I agree—but the new trailer released to mark the game's launch is pure gameplay, and it looks fantastic.

Echo was announced in August of 2016 as a third-person sci-fi action-puzzler—quite a description by any measure—about a woman named En who awakens from a century in stasis to find herself trapped inside a palace that's guarded by "Echoes" of herself. We've all been there. These echoes learn and mimic your behavior, but only the things you do in the light—and they can only "learn" during blackouts. Yes, it sounds weird (which I tend to see as a plus), but the new gameplay trailer released today by developer Ultra Ultra helps make a little more sense of it all.

Dead Cells, the excellent rogue-like Metroidvania, now has a daily challenge mode that you can replay as many times as you want to compete for a spot on the leaderboards.

You'll be able to play pirate game Sea of Thieves with your Xbox-minded friends on launch day, developer Rare has confirmed. Huzzah! It was known that the team were exploring cross-play but now we know for sure that it will be part of the game when it launches (which will be some time in 2018).

Life is Strange: Before the Storm launch trailer gets angry

The first episode of the Life is Strange prequel is out on August 31, which makes this Gamescom launch trailer a little premature. Still, we get a dose of the hazy coming-of-age teen drama vibe and some angst from Chloe, who was angry long before the events of the first series. In fairness she could have used those time travelling powers more than Max.
