The lengthy part two of the news:

Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Blood Orchid is coming this month
http://www.pcgamer.com/rainbow-six-siege-operation-blood-orchid-is-coming-this-month/
Ubisoft put the brakes on the second year of Rainbow Six Siege back in May so it could spend a few months on Operation Health, an effort to fix and upgrade the game to better position it for the long-term future. With work now mostly wrapped up (and quite successful from the look of it), it will soon be time to get back into the action, and to that end Ubi has announced that season three, bearing the name Operation Blood Orchid, is on the way.

Cliff Bleszinski says he's not worried about LawBreakers' slow start
http://www.pcgamer.com/cliff-bleszinski-says-hes-not-worried-about-lawbreakers-slow-start/
Everything I've heard about LawBreakers, the new online FPS from Cliff Bleszinski's Boss Key Productions, indicates that it's very good. The reaction among players on Steam is very positive, too. But there's been quite a bit of talk about its relatively slow start out of the gate: At the time of writing, there are a little over 1500 people playing it, which isn't enough to get it even close to the top 100. That's not a great start, but in a wide-ranging interview with Eurogamer, Bleszinski said he's not worried.

John Cleese takes the lead in Raid: World War 2, coming to the PC in September
http://www.pcgamer.com/john-cleese-takes-the-lead-in-raid-world-war-2-coming-to-the-pc-in-september/
Raid: World War 2 was announced earlier this year as a four-player co-op FPS about a team of renegade misfits who go behind the lines in Nazi Germany to conduct daring raids and steal Nazi gold. Details were a little thin at the time, but publisher Starbreeze announced earlier this week that it will be out on September 26, and that the voice of British intelligence officer Control will be provided by none other than John "Don't Mention the War" Cleese.

Sudden Strike 4 is now available
http://www.pcgamer.com/sudden-strike-4-is-now-available/
The first, and last, that we'd heard about the Second World War RTS Sudden Strike 4 came in August of last year, when publisher Kalypso Media announced that it was in the works and targeted for a release in the second quarter of 2017. That didn't quite work out, but it didn't miss by much—it's out now.

Super Mega Baseball 2 delayed until 2018
http://www.pcgamer.com/super-mega-baseball-2-delayed-into-2018/
I'm super mega excited for Super Mega Baseball 2—the first was an excellent sim that had the right level of mechanical realism alongside cartoonish players with giant heads. The follow-up, which has a more realistic art style (read: smaller heads), was slated for a release this September but, sadly, it's been pushed back into 2018 because of "unexpected hurdles" in development.

Valve reveals two new Dota 2 heroes
http://www.pcgamer.com/valve-reveals-two-new-dota-2-heroes/
Valve surprised fans at The International 7 yesterday by revealing two new Dota 2 heroes: one acrobatic, pangolin-inspired* swordsman and a pink fairy. The reveal trailer shows the swordsman rolling between enemies and speaking in an accent that's halfway between Puss in Boots and Zorro.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 heads to Italy for next DLC
http://www.pcgamer.com/euro-truck-simulator-2-heads-to-italy-in-next-dlc/
Point the wheels of your Renault Magnum in the direction of the Amalfi Coast: Euro Truck Simulator 2 is heading for the curves of Italy in its next DLC, which is due before the end of the year.

Myth-inspired RTS Deadhold charges into Early Access later this month
http://www.pcgamer.com/myth-inspired-rts-deadhold-charges-into-early-access-later-this-month/
If you loved Bungie's Myth games from the '90s and early 2000s—think combat-focused strategy with no base building—then you're probably going to enjoy Deadhold, a tactical RTS that charges into Early Access later this month.

>>Here's the Early Access page.

Star Citizen video shows off smartwatch-style UI called mobiGlas
http://www.pcgamer.com/star-citizen-video-show-off-smartwatch-style-ui-called-mobiglas/
The latest of the excellent Around the Verse videos chronicling the development of Star Citizen is out, and it shows off the mobiGlas—essentially a futuristic smartwatch that acts as the main UI for the player.

Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 out now with old-school cheat codes
http://www.pcgamer.com/mega-man-legacy-collection-2-out-now-with-old-school-cheat-codes/
Rockman is back: Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 is out now, packing games 7, 8, 9 and 10 under its bright blue armour. It's the base games you know and love plus some extra goodies including artwork, a time trial mode and a built-in music player.

Skull and Bones has loot boxes that reflect 'real economy of the Indian Ocean', won't be pay-to-win
http://www.pcgamer.com/skull-and-bones-has-loot-boxes-that-reflect-real-economy-of-the-indian-ocean-wont-be-pay-to-win/
When Tim took Ubisoft's Skull and Bones for a whirl at E3, he reckoned it felt like Burnout as much as it did Black Flag—which was something he was on board with. What's perhaps less inspiring is the fact the forthcoming pirate action adventure 'em up includes loot boxes.
Speaking to Gamespot, the developer's creative director Justin Farren confirmed Skull and Bones will include paid-for personalised cosmetic items, but that enforcing a pay-to-win-like system is something it's keen to avoid.

Deadly Premonition creator Swery65 to announce next game at PAX West
http://www.pcgamer.com/deadly-premonition-creator-swery65-to-announce-next-game-at-pax-west/
It's been three years since Hidetaka Suehiro released his last game, D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die. Judging by his review, Jon "Log" Blyth had more fun with it than I did—however Swery65's Deadly Premonition remains one of my favourite games of all time. In January, the eccentric developer launched his own studio, named White Owls Inc, and at PAX West next month he will announce his next game.

The Evil Within 2 teases horrific in-game artwork of mysterious antagonist Stefano
http://www.pcgamer.com/the-evil-within-2-teases-horrific-in-game-artwork-of-mysterious-antagonist-stefano/
Stefano is billed as a killer, STEM user, and "flashy photographer with a proclivity for 'unconventional' beauty". Bethesda has now revealed a selection of his rather disturbing "masterpieces", that our Sebastian can check out in-game.

Please excuse my bad English.

Does any of you with a fast (120/144Hz) monitor ever thought that it was too slow, that you needed something even faster, and that those 240Hz models won't do it for you? Well then, I have good news for you!

480 Hz Monitor Prototype Now at Blur Busters!
http://www.blurbusters.com/480hz-monitor-at-blur-busters/
We have received a prototype 480 Hz monitor at Blur Busters. Sent to us in kit form, we are now currently testing — and an article is coming out shortly.

Don't you think that it's a bit... overkill?

Quite a bit, tho a 480HZ would require true 2000HZ report(polling) rate mice.

I can't wait.

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/Radeon_RX_Vega_64/17.html

Granted it's only one game and does redeem itself with higher resolutions but... Wtf

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Over a year later and only as powerful if not slightly faster than Pascal. Pretty poor showing from AMD imo... GCN needs to die or evolve.

So glad I didn't wait and got my GTX1070 before the mining craze went and ruined GPU prices.

Guys I think I got cancer at work today.

A co-worker of mine started saying that AMD CPUs had always been better for gaming than intel CPUs. I told him that you might be able to make that claim for Ryzen (possibly), but that there's no way in hell you could claim that AMD's CPUs beat Intel in gaming before that, unless you go over a decade back. And he just denied it. So I asked him why Intel CPUs always beat AMD CPUs in benchmarks and he told me it didn't matter because the human eye can't see over 30 fps anyway. And this was coming from a PC gamer.

Where was i? Yeah, i'm going to order GTX 1080 non-Ti next week, maybe Gigabyte GTX 1080 turbo cooling, if out of stock, i'll go for the Zotac GTX 1080 mini.

That is certainly overkill! You would be restricted to playing old games if you want the most out of it.

In other news. Vega has arrived.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/11717/the-amd-radeon-rx-vega-64-and-56-review

TDLR.
Vega 56 is generally better than the Geforce 1070.
Vega 64 is generally better than the Geforce 1080.

However when Vega's performance tanks, it really tanks where the Geforce 1070 will beat Vega 64.

The Geforce 1080 Ti is still king. Titan XP laughs at them all.

Where AMD looses soundly is power consumption.
To say I am saddened is an understatement.

Here's a roundup of Vega reviews:

https://videocardz.com/71915/amd-radeon-rx-vega-64-vega-56-review-roundup

As Pemalite has said, Vega 56 is on par with a 1070, and the Vega 64 trades blows with the 1080. It's also worth noting that in Vulkan and DX12 games, Vega 56 is consistently faster than the 1070.

Not surprised ...

I keep hearing reviews mentioning the rapid packed math feature but no games are using it accept for two upcoming titles so far ... (No reviewers are ever going to give the benefit of doubt for unreleased games.)

Even Anandtech's statement mirrored my own sentiment.
That rapid packed math will not be a *thing* for a very long time as there isn't enough industry support for it.

It will be interesting to see how Vega ages though, especially when Rapid Packed Math gains more industry support.

1080P isn't going to be shining Vega in the brightest of lights anyway.

Since the Core 2 Duo burst onto the scene, Intel has held the edge. That cannot be disputed.
For gaming Intel still has the edge with the 7700K.

However, AMD did bring us the first $100 quad-core CPU with the Athlon 2 x4.
And have consistently provided some amazing price/performance gaming CPU's like the Athlon X2 7750, Phenom 2 x4, Phenom 2 x6, AMD FX 6300 and so on. (Ironically I owned most of those chips at some point. Haha.)

And the human eye does not see in framerates... And it can and will discern more than 30fps.
