John Romero's original Doom 2 floppy disks can be yours
http://www.pcgamer.com/john-romeros-original-doom-2-floppy-disks-can-be-yours/
Doom 2 first released 23 years ago, finally bringing the Mancubus and super shotgun into digital being. Back then you could get it on a CD-ROM – which were still pretty expensive back then – or you could get it on five floppy disks. A copy of the latter, without its box or manuals, is currently on eBay with its current bid set at $900. The reason it's so expensive is that the disks belong to John Romero, id Software co-founder, Doom co-creator, and level editor extraordinaire.

>>They were $900, now they're over $3,000.

Dino Patti, the co-founder of Limbo and Inside studio Playdead, left the company in 2016 to "seek new challenges". Today, as reported by GamesIndustry, he revealed that one of those challenges is a new studio called Jumpship, founded with feature film animator Chris Olsen, which is currently working on a new "sci-fi action adventure" called Somerville.

Details of PUBG's third major patch were revealed today, and include a range of changes to the way looting works, the introduction of two new weapons, rebalancing of weapon drops overall, as well as a handful of bug fixes and improvements to server and client optimization. The patch will arrive Thursday "if everything is stable" after a run through PUBG's test servers on Wednesday this week.

>>And they've also banned 25,000 cheaters.

http://www.pcgamer.com/titanfall-2-war-games-update-is-live-and-here-are-the-patch-notes/
Titanfall 2 gets its newest content update today in the form of War Games, which, as we've already learned, adds two new maps and—importantly—a third weapon slot for Pilots. But now we've got patch notes, which explain what other changes are being ushered in other than cool new features.

BioWare's Dragon Age team is currently 'hiring a lot of people', says creative director
http://www.pcgamer.com/biowares-dragon-age-team-is-currently-hiring-a-lot-of-people-says-creative-director/
If Alexis Kennedy's words last month weren't enough to prove work on a new Dragon Age is well underway, its creative director Mark Laidlaw's suggestion that "it's no secret we're doing something" with the series is a sure bet. Now it seems development on the elusive Inquisition follow-up is gathering pace.

As if A Plague Tale: Innocence's E3 announcement trailer wasn't terrifying enough, Asobo Studio has revealed more about its horrifying hordes of rats—which players are apparently expected to "play with and against."

This actually looks quite decent for a foliage mod. The past few mods I've seen like it either ended up looking rather spammy with their grass or too choppy in design/performance. This one seems to get it just about right.

Bu the way, viv, you may not have to wait a lot for Vega numbers, as we already have some synthetic benchmarks (FireSrtike) numbers, courtesy of a WccfTech member!

Seems to be on par, but a bit faster, than a GTX 1080.

Pretty good for a workstation GPU. Hopefully the other cards that are meant for gaming will be much faster otherwise it's DOA imo.

Well... Except with the Miners that is :P

If it's not taking over the 1080 and being sold at a cheaper price then I can see it being DOA. I'm also expecting that if it is sold at a cheaper price, miners will be going for it in droves and thus driving up the shortages.

I'll test it with the new rig sometime and see how well it runs

It's a shame that the old engine is locked to 60, I'd love to see how well it could have gone with higher refresh rate monitors.

I do assume there will be an improved Zen on 14 nm next year, with improved memory compatibility and higher clock speeds. Since their 7 nm architecture has been renamed Zen 2, AMD might choose to call this improved design Zen+. But I don't think AMD has the money to redesign their chips intended for 7 nm back to 14 nm, like Nvidia did with Maxwell. As for 12 nm... it seems even less likely since it's a node without Finfets, that would probably be even harder to redesign their Zen chips around. It will be worth the wait for the 7 nm node even if it is months late, the front end of line is bound to be much denser than Intel's 14 nm. It will be close to Intel's 10 nm than GloFo's 14 nm was to Intel's 14 nm.

Retooling chip designs for older processes is something AMD has done before.
For instance VLIW4 existed purely because 28nm wasn't ready, so they pushed their design on 40nm hard instead.

As for 12nm, I did say there was "Caveats".
It's also not a true 12nm process anyway. Neither is TSMC's 12nm process that nVidia is using for GV100.

Interesting, I didn't know about that. I guess there's a chance, then, albeit a small one.

I wonder what is behind the pseudo 12 nm process. I guess the 20 nm one, back from 2014? It was the latest one without FinFets.

We know 22 nm FDX is a slightly denser 28 nm, so probably the 12 nm follows the same path, just with a more outrageous naming.

I have been wanting to unlock the fps cap on Kane's Wrath as well as Red Alert 3, may as well try it out soon.

I never new how good Renegade X looked for a game still in development.
