Don't confuse that monitor, revealed last year, with the new 8K product that will go on sale this March.

Too bad. I do hope Samsung brings their QLED tech into monitors cause damn, the picture quality should look amazing.

What a nice looking gaming PC

Fuck those prices tho. I can probably pay someone to make it for cheaper since that i5 build normally costs like $500-$600sh

For me, the two most important things with monitors are the panel manufacturer (there aren't many) and the brand's quality control.

Leaving TN panels aside, because they're cheap and made by many, but they're only good enough if you want a really cheap monitor or one of those 240Hz and 1ms "gaming" monitors, the only brands out there are LG.display (all real IPS monitors are theirs), AUO, Sharp and Samsung. Sharp doesn't have much to choose from and most Samsung panels end up in their own monitors, leaving us with LG and AUO. Of those two, LG has better quality control than AUO, but this last one has VA panels with high refresh rates (the ASUS and Acer 4K 144Hz G-Sync monitor announced at CES will feature one of their panels).

If you want to know which panel is behind a certain monitor, TFTCentral's database is a great place to start: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/panelsearch.htm

As for monitor brands, most of them are good. LG, Dell, ASUS, BenQ, etc. make good monitors.

At the end of the day, tho, what you should do is set a max budget goal, make a list of what characteristics you want from the monitor, look which monitor(s) meet all your requirements and then look for users opinions on the net (and not just on Amazon!).

@Captain_Yuri: That's a very good looking PC. Too bad you're paying for the looks, not the specs. That said, the high end build is severely lacking in storage.

@All: Due to yesterday's problems I wasn't able to make the news (I didn't bother changing my password and all of that), so I'll post yesterday's news soon and hopefully today's news later today.

AMD bundles more bug fixes in latest Crimson ReLive driver release
http://www.pcgamer.com/amd-bundles-more-bug-fixes-in-latest-crimson-relive-driver-release/
AMD has a new Crimson ReLive driver available for Radeon graphics card owners, though you may not know it just by looking at the version number. That's because the newest ReLive version is labeled 16.2.2, which is the same version number AMD used for a driver update released three weeks ago. So, what's going on?
From what we can tell, this is another driver update comprised entirely of bug fixes, many of which were noted the release notes for the previous release. However, there are a couple of new entries here.

Though the Oculus Rift has a lower price tag than the HTC Vive (before adding in Touch controllers to level the playing field), the latter is beating the former in sales by a ratio of 2:1, according to Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney. The reason, he says, is because the Vive is based on an open source platform.

http://www.pcgamer.com/shock-tactics-is-an-xcom-clone-with-an-exploration-twist/
Shock Tactics is a very XCOM-like turn-based tactical combat game that puts players at the head of a team of mercenaries exploring a newly-discovered alien world on behalf of the Free Space Pioneers. Naturally, exploration is only part of the job, and you're not carrying all those guns because they look snazzy: You'll have to square off against pirates, hostile aliens, and the troopers of the Imperial Consortium as you set up outposts, establish dig sites, and seek out powerful alien tech to upgrade your base, weapons, and armor.

Part two of yesterday's news:

VAMPIRES ARE COMING TO THE SIMS 4 LATER THIS MONTH
http://www.pcgamer.com/vampires-are-coming-to-the-sims-4-later-this-month/
Vampires are coming to The Sims 4, and I'm not talking about thin folks with pasty complexions and poor sleep habits. These are real, live Nosferatu-style nightcrawlers who drink "plasma," stalk their neighbors, and wield their own special powers—including the ability to turn other Sims into vampiric kin.

>>Vampires... I'm speechless.

RAINBOW SIX SIEGE UPDATE USHERS IN A BUNCH OF REQUESTED FIXES
http://www.pcgamer.com/rainbow-six-siege-update-ushers-in-a-bunch-of-requested-fixes/
Following Rainbow Six Siege's massive December update – which added two new operators and PvP maps, among other things – the inevitable housekeeping patch is imminent. Posted to the Ubisoft forums earlier today, the notes for update 5.3 don't warn of any huge changes or additions, but rather a bunch of bugs apparently ushered in with the December update.

DILUVION RELEASE DATE SET FOR FEBRUARY
http://www.pcgamer.com/diluvion-release-date-set-for-february/
When Tom and James got to grips with Arachnid Games and Gambitious Digital Entertainment's Diluvion at PAX, they described its crew management system as "equal parts FTL and Dragon Age". That's quite the combination and while the deep sea submarine exploration game was initially expected to launch late last year, it now has a concrete release date: February 2, 2017.

TELLTALE'S GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY PLOT SYNOPSIS REVEALED, APRIL RELEASE DATE RUMOURED
http://www.pcgamer.com/telltales-guardians-of-the-galaxy-plot-synopsis-revealed-april-release-date-rumoured/
Following a leak that emerged amid the recent voice actors' strike, it was suggested narrative adventure specialist Telltale was developing a game adaptation of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. At December's Game Awards the Wolf Among Us developer confirmed this was true, and now US retailer GameStop has seemingly unveiled what's in store for the outlandish gang in its latest video game outing.

SEA OF THIEVES CO-OP TRAILER DEMANDS ALL HANDS ON DECK
http://www.pcgamer.com/sea-of-thieves-co-op-trailer-demands-all-hands-on-deck/
Over the past few months, Rare has teased some of the features and mechanics that comprise its incoming treasure-hunting adventure sandbox Sea of Thieves via its 'Inn-Side Story' series. I've been steadily impressed with each passing instalment, however the latest is the first that's made me really want to give it a whirl.

VERDUN ADDS RUTHLESS KILT-WEARING SCOTSMEN IN FREE UPDATE

World War One FPS Verdun may have ceased firing over the holidays while reenacting the Christmas Truce, but it's now back to business in the bunkers. To mark the new year, M2H and Blackmill Games are adding The Highlander Squad to the battlefield—kilts and all.

TROLL AND I STORY TRAILER HAS FOREST FIRES, HARPOON GUNS AND INVISIBILITY MAGIC
http://www.pcgamer.com/troll-and-i-story-trailer-has-forest-fires-harpoon-guns-and-invisibility-magic/
When Spiral House and Maximum Games teased Troll and I's first cinematic trailer last month, it wasn't too clear what was actually going on—beyond the fact a gargantuan troll and a young boy had joined forces in order to evade some pretty angry pursuers. We learned a little bit about the co-op adventure game's combat—a system that "allows contrasting abilities for each character" whereby each "employs their own distinct presence" in solving puzzles and fending off rivals—however not that much about its story.
The latest story trailer expectedly sheds a wee bit of light on that.

Interesting rig from a friend of mine, he built almost exact same Alienware Aurora's spec configured with 256GB SSD + 1TB 64MB cache 7200RPM that cost $1630 compare to this.
