hmm how about the Kingston V300? It's MLC bassed and not much more than the Samsung 840, speed doesn't seem tobe anything to write home about but should still be a hell of a lot faster than a mechanical drive. Seems like a reasonable option.

You could certainly do worse than the Kingston middle-of-the-road Sandforce based, MLC NAND SSD. :P

The Samsung though, is still twice as fast in a best case scenario with 2 extra years of warranty. (Which IMHO is worth it.)

Then again the Kingston is significantly cheaper

http://www.pcforce.co.nz/samsung-840-pro-series-mz7pd128-128gb-sata3-ssd-drive-p-2502.html

http://www.elive.co.nz/kingston-120gb-ssdnow-v300-sata-SY05483.php

once you add in the braket and the SATA cable it is significant, and that is a worst case example in the real world the picture looks much better

Those are just boot times. :P
Your motherboard and it's various controllers will influence boot times far more.

As for the bracket, ask the retailer if it comes with one, my OCZ Vertex 2 came with one, so did the Samsung 840 Pro in my other system, albeit that was not an OEM drive. (OEM one's come without a bracket.)

But it seems you have made your decision anyway, so have fun!

true but performance seems comparable in most tests http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/5254/kingston-ssdnow-v300-120gb-ssd-review/index9.html

it sufferes in small random access but that should be a huge factor right?

averages look ok

and I already checked it's just the bare drive. I can't actually find anyone that sells the 840 pro kits in NZ for some reason, I mean the SATA cable is only like $5 but for some reason a bracket is like $15 so it adds up.

Gah I hate buying things lol I know I will regret it ether way lol, buyers remorse sets in quick with me. I shoud decide tonight tho as the deal on the Kingston runs out soon.

Edit: I did find a slightly cheaper 840 pro
