Radeon RX 5000 and 6000 being sunsetted sucks... Considering that RDNA 2/3 is still prolific in integrated graphics/APU's... Will likely impact their handheld chip crusade.

Disabling paid-for features on the RX 7000 is just stupid and anti-consumer.

This is one of the biggest fails with consumer protection. It should be illegal to do this sort of thing unless there is some sort of safety issue. And if there is some sort of safety issue, the consumer should be compensated for the loss in functionality.

As for this driver situation, massive fail from AMD. I could sort of understand if it were RDNA1 due the lack of certain key features, but RDNA2 is still manufacturered by AMD and used in APUs. The most famous of those uses is for the Steam Deck. To top it off, they've just launched the Ryzen Z2 A recently which is basically the Steam Deck's APU by another name. For a company that has seen great success on the CPU side due to platform longevity, this move is mind boggling stupid. How can the Radeon division be apart of the same company that makes Ryzen and continuously whiff on the lessons learned by their sister division. For every one step forward Radeon takes, they take one to two steps back.

Edit: I just saw that subsequent responses have also brought up the Ryzen Z2 A. I concur with the "I hope AMD gets skewered for this" sentiment.

Monster Hunter Wilds is barely clinging onto Capcom's top-sellers this year, getting beat out by the likes of Monster Hunter Rise and… Devil May Cry 5, for some reason
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/monster-hunter-wilds-is-barely-clinging-onto-capcoms-top-sellers-this-year-getting-beat-out-by-the-likes-of-monster-hunter-rise-and-devil-may-cry-5-for-some-reason/
Despite being the most-hyped thing at Gamescom last year, topping Steam wishlists and raking in nearly 1.4 million concurrent players shortly after launch, Monster Hunter Wilds is struggling to pull in the sales even compared to its four-year-old predecessor.
As reported by Eurogamer, Capcom published its most recent financial report earlier this week covering the first half of the fiscal year—from around the start of April 'til the end of September.
Taking a gander over some of the developer's big sellers for that time period, Monster Hunter Wilds is barely clinging onto the top 10 list, sitting right at the bottom with 637,000 units sold. That's still not bad, mind, but perhaps surprising when framed alongside other games like previous entry Monster Hunter Rise, shifting a skosh more copies at 643,000 units.

Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord's nautical-themed War Sails expansion gets a gameplay showcase and spills the release date, and folks, I think we're onto a winner here
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/strategy/mount-and-blade-2-bannerlords-nautical-themed-war-sails-expansion-gets-a-gameplay-showcase-and-spills-the-release-date-and-folks-i-think-were-onto-a-winner-here/
Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord is probably one of the most Fraser games around—a cross between Crusader Kings' dynastic intrigue and Total War's eye-watteringly epic battles, with the cherry on top being that you're commanding your armies within these battles, participating in the bloody scrum. And next month that bloody scrum is taking to the high seas.
War Sails takes Bannerlord to the ocean, letting you indulge in your thirst for nautical squabbles. You'll be ramming ships, boarding them to engage in close combat, shredding sails, sinking vessels, and dealing with the petty whims of both the wind and water.

Epic is trying to entice Resident Evil Requiem fans to pre-order from the EGS over Steam by offering an exclusive Grace Ashcroft skin in Fortnite

It may seem like a long way away, but Resident Evil Requiem's launch date is creeping up on us: 120 days and counting. Some fans are already getting ahead by opting for preordering the game well in advance.
(...)
But for those who like to take a risk or are 100% certain that they'll love Resident Evil Requiem, there'll be more waiting for you than just the game. As part of a preorder bonus on the Epic Games Store, players will be able to get Grace Ashcroft's bonus DLC costume: Apocalypse and her outfit in Fortnite when it comes to the battle royale game in March next year.

Instead of selling its new Halloween skins, Fellowship's devs are giving them away for free after its 'rocky' launch
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/instead-of-selling-its-new-halloween-skins-fellowships-devs-are-giving-them-away-for-free-after-its-rocky-launch/
Fellowship, the co-op game where you get to endlessly run MMO-style dungeons, didn't have the smoothest launch a few weeks ago. As things tend to go for online games these days, the servers buckled under the weight of people trying to log in and queue up.
Things have settled now and the game is holding steady at around 25,000 concurrent players on Steam—which isn't half bad for an early access game still getting its footing. But developer Chief Rebel decided to make up for the shaky launch by giving away nine Halloween skins for free instead of selling them.

Less than 2 weeks before the launch of its next game, Hyper Light studio Heart Machine reportedly lays off even more employees
https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/less-than-2-weeks-before-the-launch-of-its-next-game-hyper-light-studio-heart-machine-reportedly-lays-off-even-more-employees/
It looks like Hyper Light studio Heart Machine may have suffered another round of layoffs, as multiple employees are reporting on social media (via Game Developer) that they've been let go. The reported job losses come just three weeks after a previous round of layoffs that saw more than a dozen people put out of work.

As promised it's a big one, with new upgrades, valuables, rooms to explore, and enemies to deal with—and, as PC Gamer's very own Repo man Lincoln Carter is especially excited about, "butt physics."

Dev who accidentally listed his game on Japanese Steam as 'Sh***y Dungeon' sees skyrocketing wishlists and sales: 'Everyone was laughing and, honestly, I was laughing like crazy too!'

Back in August, PCG's Lincoln Carpenter reported on one of modern life's little issues, in this case double-checking that machine translation tools are accurate. Turin-based developer Paolo Nicoletti released a demo for his game The Crazy Hyper-Dungeon Chronicles on Japanese Steam after using machine tools to translate the text: and ended up listing the game as "Kuso Dungeon" which means "Shitty Dungeon" or "Crap Dungeon".
(...)
"Everyone was laughing," says Nicoletti, "and honestly, I was laughing like crazy too! It was a completely unintentional incident, but it garnered a lot of attention for the game and caused a huge increase in wishlists. It was accidental marketing at its finest!

If you want to change the appearance of Fortnite's new Sidekick pets you have to buy them again each time
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/battle-royale/if-you-want-to-change-the-appearance-of-fortnites-new-sidekick-pets-you-have-to-buy-them-again-each-time/
Years ago, Fortnite added pets as backpack bling you could carry around. Having a personal handbag dog wasn't quite the same thing as having an actual mobile pet who can run and chase and so on, but Fortnite's finally getting those with the addition of Sidekicks.
As Epic's introductory spiel says, "Sidekicks are new pals in Fortnite that join your adventures in Battle Royale, LEGO® Fortnite, developer-made experiences, and more. Enjoy their company as they react to the world around you!"
It then immediately leaps into an explanation of the customizable appearance options for your new Sidekick, and makes sure to warn that, "Your choices are permanent, so make sure to preview the Appearance before locking it in." So yeah, if you change the color of your pet dino-lizard or banana dog, they'll be stuck that way forever.
You can, however, give them a different vest whenever you want, as outfit cosmetics aren't locked-in. And if you do change your mind about their appearance, you can give Epic some more of your money to buy another forever friend, as a Player Support answer explains. "Yes, you can purchase a Sidekick multiple times and give them different Appearances. However, each Sidekick customization you own in your Locker must be unique. Duplicate Appearances are not allowed."

If you're a fan of Blue Prince and the Golden Idol games, this spooky detective mystery has arrived just in time for Halloween
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/adventure/if-youre-a-fan-of-blue-prince-and-the-golden-idol-games-this-spooky-detective-mystery-has-arrived-just-in-time-for-halloween/
In the excellent puzzle strategy game Blue Prince I walked around exploring a mansion while collecting clues and solving puzzles. In the grisly murder mysteries The Case of the Golden Idol and its sequel I solved crimes by collecting words and using them to fill in the blanks.
So I'm pretty happy right now because I'm getting to do both of those things in first-person mystery puzzle game The Seance of Blake Manor. As a detective in the late 1800s investigating a disappearance, I'm walking around a sprawling hotel absolutely packed with potential suspects, solving a bunch of little mysteries Golden Idol-style by collecting verbs and nouns and using them to build sentences that explain my theories.

Bloodlines 2 update adds more customization options, and the developer is considering 'the ability to play only Phyre's side of the story on your second playthrough' for a future patch

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was a bit lacking in the character-creation department, but developer The Chinese Room has taken that criticism on-board and added 24 more customization options in its Halloween update. There are eight new hairstyles, eight new makeup styles, and eight new eye colors to choose from, though you'll need to start a new playthrough to see them.

And this is part three, full of Arc Raiders articles, because that what PCGamer always does when a big game comes out:

Don't sleep on Assorted Seeds in Arc Raiders—they're one of the most valuable items you can grab
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/arc-raiders-assorted-seeds/
You need scrap for just about everything in Arc Raiders, whether it's building a new crafting bench in your workshop, upgrading your weapons, or cobbling together the odds and ends you need for each run up to the deadly, bot-infested surface. The number of different scrap items will be so overwhelming initially that you're more than likely to just bundle them all into your bag and hope you got the right junk.
Honestly, it's a good strategy at first. After all, you've got your trusty rooster, Scrappy, who will be true to his name and gather scrap, meaning you're always making progress even when it seems like you're just getting melted by swarms of robots every run. You can also upgrade Scrappy's gathering capabilities if you find a dog collar.
There is one item, however, that's well worth filching if you come across it, and that's Assorted Seeds. You can often find these in nature areas, and there are lots to be had in the Hydroponic Dome Complex on the Dam Battlegrounds map, as well as in the swamp area surrounding it. So, why are these simple seeds so good?

Arc Raiders technically doesn't have item trading, but there's a way to cheat the system and get missions done with the power of friendship
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/arc-raiders-trading-items/
Loot is almost always plentiful in Arc Raiders—except, it seems, when you need to find something specific. The first few missions will have you looking for a battery and some wires, two items that I've seen plenty of during my preview and the beta test. But somehow, as soon as I needed them, they decided to disappear from every drawer and cupboard.
(...)
lookout for six wires, but no matter where I searched or what I scrapped, I just couldn't seem to find anything. This is when PC Gamer guides writer Rory Norris and I hatched an ingenious idea.
I had a battery that he needed, and he had the wires I needed, so we decided to exchange goods. Now there's no way you can do this in the menu, so we had to jump into a game with all the supplies in hand. Once we landed in Dam Battlegrounds, we dropped all our materials on the floor, looked around for a little more loot and then extracted, heading back to Speranza to tick off our missions.
>> Speaking about loot, here’s a way to cheat and keep your pistol and loot from the tutorial (link).

Arc Raiders wants to tell a story you'll actually care about in 10 years: 'We will introduce new locations and start new story arcs'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/arc-raiders-wants-to-tell-a-story-youll-actually-care-about-in-10-years-we-will-introduce-new-locations-and-start-new-story-arcs/
I don't usually jump into multiplayer shooters to get wrapped up in storylines or lore implications, but Arc Raiders has had that effect on me in the small bursts I've played. The extraction shooter makes a strong impression as you step into its post-future, '70s-tinged sci-fi Italy.

Patrick Soderlund, who was vice president at EA when Titanfall 2 got crushed between Battlefield and Call of Duty, talks about doing it again with Arc Raiders: 'People may look at that and say, what the hell are they doing?'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/patrick-soderlund-who-was-vice-president-at-ea-when-titanfall-2-got-crushed-between-battlefield-and-call-of-duty-talks-about-doing-it-again-with-arc-raiders-people-may-look-at-that-and-say-what-the-hell-are-they-doing/
It's widely believed that one of the big reasons Titanfall 2 tanked badly, despite being such a good game, is that EA decided to shove it out the door between the releases of the Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare behemoths. Despite being better than either of those games (an objective truth), there was simply no light for it, and it quickly withered and died. Nine years later, Arc Raiders is taking the same shot, between Battlefield 6 and Black Ops 7. Is that wise?

Arc Raiders' use of AI highlights the tension and confusion over where machine learning ends and generative AI begins
https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/arc-raiders-use-of-ai-highlights-the-tension-and-confusion-over-where-machine-learning-ends-and-generative-ai-begins/
Like Embark Studios' 2023 shooter The Finals, its new game Arc Raiders, out today, comes bearing an "AI generated content disclosure" on its Steam page. "During the development process, we may use procedural- and AI-based tools to assist with content creation. In all such cases, the final product reflects the creativity and expression of our own development team," reads the disclosure.

Arc Raiders' design director says 'we will maintain the current aesthetic that we have' when it comes to skins, so no 'T-Rex costume running around'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/arc-raiders-design-director-says-we-will-maintain-the-current-aesthetic-that-we-have-when-it-comes-to-skins-so-no-t-rex-costume-running-around/
Arc Raiders is a live-service shooter, and you know what that means—skin discourse, hooray! In all seriousness, since everything became Fortnite, it's been a real consideration. As PCG's own Morgan Park put it in 2023, "Cosmetic Uglification is a viral affliction infecting the best shooters of our time", and he's not been proven wrong since.
You can rest easy, though. At least, if you take the words of design director Virgil Watkins at face value in a recent interview with PCGamesN: "What I believe to be true is that we will maintain the current aesthetic that we have," Watkins says. "It will fit within our sensibilities of how these things look and fit within the world and inside the fiction.

'You killed Bob!': Battlefield 6 player has stumbled upon a rare EA dev dog tag previously owned by a 'Bobea'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/you-killed-bob-battlefield-6-player-has-stumbled-upon-a-rare-ea-dev-dog-tag-previously-owned-by-a-bobea/
One of the perks of getting up close and personal with your kills in Battlefield 6 is the trophies you can collect. Dog tags are collected by performing takedowns on downed enemy players and work as a memory album of all your best kills; it's a bit morbid, but also cool.
Dog tags are neat in and of themselves, but I think we've finally found one that tops all others. "Is this rare?" Battlefield 6 players og99 asks in the subreddit. Showing a screenshot of a gold-plated Electronic Arts Dev dog tag. The tag has only been taken one time before, yesterday, when og99 managed to strip it off a dev who is only known as 'Bobea'.

AMD clarifies RDNA1 and RDNA2 will continue receiving game optimizations based on “market needs”

If it was a simple missunderstanding, you wouldn't need two clarifications to solve it. I'd keep an eye on it to see what they really do.
