You can now play Portal 2 with RTX Remix Path Tracing
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/you-can-now-play-portal-2-with-rtx-remix-path-tracing/
In December 2022, NVIDIA released Portal RTX to the public. This enhanced version of Portal had Full Ray Tracing/Path Tracing, allowing you to experience this Half-Life puzzle game with amazing graphics. And, from the looks of it, a modder has figured out a way to bring RTX Remix to Portal 2.
Surprisingly enough, this RTX Remix Mod works like a charm with Portal 2. There are some visual issues but most of you may not even notice them.
For instance, a lot of effects in Portal 2 are rendered using shaders. Effects can get glitchy the further away you are from the map center. Their performance is not the best either.
Anyway, this is one of the best RTX Remix mods you can use right now. So, go ahead and download it from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find a video for it. This video will give you an idea of what you can expect from it.

Awesome! I absolutely love Portal 1 RTX, so Portal 2 was my most wanted RTX-remix.

LG launches UltraGear GX7 27-inch 480Hz WOLED monitor with DisplayPort 2.1 at $999

https://videocardz.com/pixel/lg-launches-ultragear-gx7-27-inch-480hz-woled-monitor-with-displayport-2-1-at-999

Looks like a great monitor. Too bad it's still way too expensive for most of us.

Hopefully one day...

For the sake of competition and a healthy market, I hope RDNA4 moves some units. And also that Intel fexies Arrow Lake's gaming performance as they claim they will.

Intel In Trouble: AMD Pushes Intel Out Of The Top 10 Best Selling CPUs On Amazon, 9800X3D Tops Newegg Charts

95% AMD Market share on Mindfactory with 6175 AMD against 360 Intel CPUs sold is absolutely wild. I don't remember AMD dropping this low even during the bulldozer era.

If AMD doesn't overprice the RDNA4 chips at launch (a very big if, I know), and both the new raytracing hardware can keep up with or even beat RTX 4xxx (which if the PS5 Pro is any indication could be the case) and AMD's new AI-enhanced FSR is any good (again, PS5 Pro shows that it's possible with the hardware), then it could be a very decent budget option for entry to higher mid-range GPUs compared to NVidias offerings.

About Arrow lake... the way they're stifling the clock speeds (as in, unless you're working with LN2 or the like, it WILL clock down for sake of efficiency with the newest update) doesn't bode too well, sadly.

I think if ps5 pro is any indication, having dedicated RT cores and dedicated tensor cores are not cheap. So the key factor of RDNA4 being priced right won't be very easy. But hey, we shall see. I'd love more competition but it feels like Radeon and Intel keeps shooting themselves every chance Nvidia gives them

The PS5 Pro's die is only 270 mm². It's seemingly N4, yes, but the price is mostly the premium entry free for a premium console.

And, given its sales so far, Sony was proven right that it would still sell.

Wow, Sony found a way to make the PSN account requirement even worse - by blatantly lying about it. I used to like Sony the best among the console companies, but it has somehow managed to become the worst by far. I'm sure Microsoft would like to be worse, but it's not in a position to be, so it's not, so that dubious victory goes to Sony instead. What a despicable company (and no, I'm not saying this just because of the account requirement, it's actually a lot of things across the years - among which GaaS games aren't actually a major thing).

RIP Tony Todd. Upon hearing him in Back 4 Blood, it didn't take me long to realize it was a vortigaunt speaking.

I'd still call Nintendo the worst with all the things they're doing, like going after youtubers for playing their games (and I'm talking about the released games, not piraed and leaked ones), going after Smash or Mario Kart tournaments and, of course, all the lawsuits and the dirty tricks it's triying with Pocketpair.

But i understand you, Sony isn't doing anything towin the heart of gamers, quite the contrary.

I read that while catching up, and I couldn't help but completely disagree, specially after reading this news:

https://www.eurogamer.net/playstation-in-talks-to-buy-elden-ring-dark-souls-developer-fromsoftware

And then there is this news that you posted it yourself:

https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/fresh-from-a-layoff-bloodbath-that-cost-over-2-500-jobs-microsoft-is-already-thinking-about-dropping-the-big-bucks-on-more-acquisitions/

Until Microsoft and Sony cut that crap out, they will always be far worse than Nintendo to me.

Yea there is a good amount of greed involved in the price for sure but I wouldn't put "GPUs are also getting more expensive" past their decision either as I wouldn't be surprised if it's a mixture of both.

I think we all knew it would sell given the current competition but I'd be curious about long term sales.

SALES /PLAYER COUNT & DEALS

Steam’s Top 10

(Click here for the Top 100)

Farming Simulator 25 and Alan Wake 2 have sold 2 million and 1.8 million units, respectively
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/farming-simulator-25-and-alan-wake-2-have-sold-2-million-and-1-8-million-units-respectively/
GIANTS Software has announced that Farming Simulator 25 has sold 2 million units in its first week. Similarly, Remedy has announced that Alan Wake 2 has sold 1.8 million units on all platforms.
GIANTS Software noted that there were over 125K players playing simultaneously on launch day on Steam. In total, the series has sold over 40 million units on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Moreover, the devs plan to release free content updates, patches, and expansions.
On the other hand, Remedy shared some new details about its other franchises. As the team noted, CONTROL 2 will be an action RPG. Plus, the first CONTROL will receive a free update in early 2025. This update will unlock some previously released content.
>> Pardon my language, but Alan Wake 2 has sold like crap. I hope Epic has given Remedy a ton of money although, given how it’s still not profitable, I’d say it wasn’t enough.

Half-Life 2 City 17 Apartment Unreal Engine 5 Fan Demo Released
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/half-life-2-city-17-apartment-unreal-engine-5-fan-demo-released/
DeepVelocityOps has released a fan remake of Half-Life 2’s City 17 Apartment in Unreal Engine 5. This fan demo will let you explore the iconic apartment Gordon uses to escape from Combine at the beginning of Half Life 2. It’s a pretty cool fan demo. So, if you are an HL2 fan, you should at least try it.
Now since this is a fan demo from one dev, you should temper your expectations. The demo allows you to fight some enemies. For instance, it has a few Combine, zombies and crabs. However, from what I’ve seen, the hit reactions and combat mechanics are a bit basic.
The demo also appears to be using Lumen. However, it doesn’t seem to support Hardware Lumen. As such, there are some visual artifacts that can become a bit distracting.
In short, for a one-man project, this fan demo of Half-Life 2 in Unreal Engine 5 is pretty cool. Still, this is nowhere close to the quality of a fully-fledged remake of HL2 in UE5. So, don’t expect anything like that.

Quake 2 PSX Mod for PC just got a DLC-sized fan expansion
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/quake-2-psx-mod-for-pc-just-got-a-dlc-sized-fan-expansion/
In October 2024, we informed you about an amazing mod that recreated the PSX version of Quake 2 into Quake 2 Remastered. So, today, we present you with a DLC-sized fan expansion that adds new free content to it.
For those unaware, the PlayStation version of Quake 2 had numerous changes to the PC version. For instance, the PlayStation version had 20 levels spread across 5 Units (called missions in the port), compared to the PC version’s 39 levels across 10 units. Most of these levels are modified versions of the originals with reworked geometry to fit the console’s limitations.
The PlayStation version also features two new enemies, the Arachnid and the Guardian. Moreover, it packs some visual changes, although its story follows the one for the PC version.
This new DLC-sized fan expansion brings 11 brand new missions to Quake 2 PSX. Each of them comes with its own opening cutscene and progresses through the hub to unlock a custom boss.

Skyrim just got a 16GB Mod that improves all 31652 textures
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/skyrim-just-got-a-16gb-mod-that-improves-all-31652-textures/
Over the past few years, we’ve shared numerous HD Texture Packs for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. However, it was a bit of a pain in the ass to find and install all of them. So, today we have a mod that will upscale all of the game’s textures (which are around 31652).
Now if you have already heavily modded the game with previous packs, you can skip this one. This pack is for those who want to enhance all of the textures without installing individual packs. So, if you are new to Skyrim, you can download and install this pack.
Going into more details, the modder upscaled every single texture of Skyrim with multiple models to get most of the details. Then, he reworked them in Photoshop to fix unwanted results and enhanced details to the maximum of his efforts. This whole thing took ‘M Waqas’ almost a year to complete.
The new textures for landscapes are 2K, whereas the ones for Architectures are between 1K and 2K. Some of the game’s big statues now have 4K textures. Armors and clothes now have 1K textures for helmets, gloves, and boots. And finally, Chest Armors now have 2K textures.
