I thought Palworld pretty much had biggest steam launch of the year on-lock, can't believe black myth is going to pass it any minute now.

It already did it. Now we'll see if it also manages to catch PUBG and become the number one.

The FF16 demo is absurdly heavy. I was getting ~ 120 fps at native 1440p with frame gen, which is almost on par with Black Myth Wukong's at Cinematic + RT at similar settings. That's with insane hardware, can't imagine how is it going for the average dude.

I had Lossless Scaling in the background to double the framerate of the 30 fps cutscenes too. It's a bummer they aren't capped at 60 instead.

I decided to take a gander at Steam forums and apparently folks with 3000 series cards aren't having their cake...

What's not amusing is seeing the stereotypical "upgrade ur machine bro" comments to anyone who owns a 3000 series card, let alone a 4000 series card that isn't a damn 4080/90. It's obvious that SE quality is rearing it's ugly head. I have yet to see a stellar lightweight port from them at all.

Capcom has done better ports that my 1080ti handles more than fine, but anything from SE just shits the bed and demands way, way more than what it was originally on (that being a PS console).

Also the cutscenes being capped at 30 has to be a joke, it's 2024 ffs... Imagine waiting an entire year and paying more for the complete collection and you get a 30fps cap on cutscenes and the game demands more hw juice from you. I'm glad I gave up on SE tbh.

Funny thing is Square offers terrible ports and will complain about sales. Maybe sales would be better if their ports weren't shit?

I mean 4k at 80 to 120 fps should be reasonable on a 4090. 1440p at 120 fps should be a given on a 4090.

Still think that's just their bad engine. We'll know for sure when some outlet does a performance review and benchmarks a 6700XT. Keep in mind this is a game that had to drop to 720p to run at 60 fps during battles on the PS5 and averaged like ~1280p and 55 fps elsewhere.

Fair point.  The resolution on the ps5 was quite low.

Even when they used UE, Square had performance problems with their games. They don't know or care how to properly optimiize their games. And if they don't it for consoles with a fixed hardware, imagine for PC where the combinations are endless.

Anyway, I'm going to steal a hardware news (well, "rumor" for now) from Jizz:

AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D 6-core Zen4 CPU with 3D V-Cache reportedly launches in early September
https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-ryzen-5-7600x3d-6-core-zen4-cpu-with-3d-v-cache-reportedly-launches-in-early-september

Because Zen5 didn't have enough problems, AMD goes and makes things even harder. lol. Jokes aside, AMD will sell a lot of these if they price them right.

Black Myth: Wukong has some bonkers streamer guidelines about not using the game to spread 'feminist propaganda' or discuss anything about China
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/black-myth-wukong-has-some-bonkers-streamer-guidelines-about-not-using-the-game-to-spread-feminist-propaganda-or-discuss-anything-about-china/
Black Myth: Wukong releases tomorrow and is really rather good. As PCG's Tyler Colp said on his way to awarding it a handsome 87% in our review, "these animals may not have thumbs, but they sure have hands."
The game has run into further controversy, however, over an email sent from its marketing team to content creators planning to cover the game at launch. Co-publisher Hero Games is distributing Steam keys to these individuals, which comes with a link to a Google document (verified by both IGN and Forbes) containing some rather wild conditions for coverage.

Those rules would have pushed me to decline the keys, even if those themes don't come up normally during any test, review or even usual play sessions. It's simply the gall giving such crazy guidelines...

I suppose it could have led to some trouble for the developers if people in the administration caught wind that foreign influencers were using the game to discuss 'sensitive matters' (as China's government calls them) after being given keys.

Probably not but better not to take the risk than have someone ask questions if they have links to foreigners spreading polemical talk points. Social harmony is golden and all of that.

What engine is XVI even using?. I thought they dropped Luminous in favour of UE4-5?.
