removing the battery wouldn't require you to reinstall windows or software/drivers, so you're okay on that end, though I don't think it will solve your video output issue.

Have you tried checking your cable and it's quality?. I had one bad DP cable years ago that claimed to be "gold standard", but that's what I get for buying from a friend's thrift shop in the first place.

Yeah I have tried two cables and two different monitors.  What is odd and when it works it works, once I get output the system is flawless.  I did update the Bios recently and the problems started right after, which is why I was thinking it had something to do with that.  But I could be wrong.

Check for updates of your video card manufacturer to see if there's a software issue. You can also check if others have the same issue as you do with the same or similar card.

If neither is true, then there might be a problem with your connector, as in, something being a bit loose and not always giving a good contact. That would be more problematic, as the only way to solve this would be to exchange the card.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

The FF16 demo is absurdly heavy. I was getting ~ 120 fps at native 1440p with frame gen, which is almost on par with Black Myth Wukong's at Cinematic + RT at similar settings. That's with insane hardware, can't imagine how is it going for the average dude.

I had Lossless Scaling in the background to double the framerate of the 30 fps cutscenes too. It's a bummer they aren't capped at 60 instead.

What GPU do you have?  I'm trying to decide if I should pre order FF16, but I do worry about a poor port.

A 4090, so yeah. I'm running on April drivers but what I've seen elsewhere is pretty much the same story.

I think it's more the engine than the port, though, this is made in a modified FF14 engine and that game always ran poorly.

Sounds rough.  I might wait on a price drop.  Crazy.  A 4090 should crush that game.  I was expecting 120 fps with no frame gen at 1440p.

So was I! And DLSS doesn't look that great in this game too. A bit too soft like TW3.

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project NextGen Edition looks amazing in its latest comparison video
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/the-witcher-3-hd-reworked-project-nextgen-edition-looks-amazing-in-its-latest-comparison-video/
Modder ‘Halk Hogan’ has shared a new video for his highly anticipated HD Reworked Project Mod for The Witcher 3 Next-Gen. As with most of Hogan’s videos, it compares the original textures with the new modded ones. So, go ahead and take a look at it.
The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project improves the game with top-notch textures that look great and run smoothly, without needing more VRAM. If you’re already playing on Max settings, you’ll be able to use this mod. The pack will include high-quality, accurate normal maps, many of which are made from detailed 3D models. The project also brings better LODs for objects.
The modder claims that HD Reworked NextGen Edition will have high-quality textures using the new mapping technique implemented in the Next-Gen version of the game. Thanks to this, many textures in HDRP NextGen Edition will be much more realistic.
Halk Hogan has also announced that the mod will come out in November 2024. So, it won’t be long until we get our hands on it. And, to be honest, I’m really looking forward to it.

Tuesday news, part two:

Dead Cells takes a bow with its 'final major update,' calling an end to 7 years of development that spanned 35 updates, 5 DLC, and 2 studios
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/roguelike/dead-cells-takes-a-bow-with-its-final-major-update-calling-an-end-to-7-years-of-development-that-spanned-35-updates-5-dlc-and-2-studios/
Dead Cells is finishing a hell of a run. The excellent roguelike that first hit early access all the way back in 2017 got its "final major update" today, adding a raft of new features, weapons, customisation options and, most importantly, bidding a fond farewell to fans.
Update 35—The End is Near—was announced at the start of this year, and finally released earlier today. It marks the end of the journey with Dead Cells for both of the games' development studios: Its original creators at Motion Twin and the people at Evil Empire, who took over on the game five years ago.

Black Myth: Wukong has some bonkers streamer guidelines about not using the game to spread 'feminist propaganda' or discuss anything about China
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/black-myth-wukong-has-some-bonkers-streamer-guidelines-about-not-using-the-game-to-spread-feminist-propaganda-or-discuss-anything-about-china/
Black Myth: Wukong releases tomorrow and is really rather good. As PCG's Tyler Colp said on his way to awarding it a handsome 87% in our review, "these animals may not have thumbs, but they sure have hands."
The game has run into further controversy, however, over an email sent from its marketing team to content creators planning to cover the game at launch. Co-publisher Hero Games is distributing Steam keys to these individuals, which comes with a link to a Google document (verified by both IGN and Forbes) containing some rather wild conditions for coverage.

Larian released a teaser for the new evil endings coming in Baldur's Gate 3's next patch, and they really weren't kidding about the evil part
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/larian-released-a-teaser-for-the-new-evil-endings-coming-in-baldur-s-gate-3-s-next-patch-and-they-really-weren-t-kidding-about-the-evil-part/
Next month, Baldur's Gate 3 is getting its eagerly awaited Patch 7, adding dynamic splitscreen in co-op play, an official modding toolkit, and—most importantly for certain unrepentant sickos among you—expanded and improved endings for evil characters. Earlier today, Larian posted a fresh teaser for one of the Dark Urge's new evil endings, and wouldn't you know it: Seems pretty dark!

Madden NFL 25 stumbles out to a 'mixed' rating on Steam, which means it's no worse than any other Madden game on PC
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/sports/madden-nfl-25-stumbles-out-to-a-mixed-rating-on-steam-which-means-its-no-worse-than-any-other-madden-game-on-pc/
Madden NFL 25 debuted on Steam on August 16, and it doesn't seem to be going over very well. Common complaints include poor performance, inadequate controller support, and frequent crashes. There is one bright spot amidst all the upset, though: It doesn't seem to be faring worse than any other Madden NFL game on Steam.

Valve says 'we've decided to draw a clear line' and bans Snap Tap keyboard automation from Counter-Strike 2
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/valve-says-weve-decided-to-draw-a-clear-line-and-bans-snap-tap-keyboard-automation-from-counter-strike-2/
Valve has made a bold decision with its latest update to Counter-Strike 2, and one that is something of an about-turn on previous attitudes. A client update has announced certain forms of scripting popular in Counter-Strike will now be detected and banned, essentially putting an end to automated inputs that some players use for actions such as jump-throws of grenades and counter-strafing. Yes sir, the tears are delicious.
