I've only heard snippets of the DRM on discord servers, but I think that's the DRM that prevents you from modding?. If that's true... oof Capcom that's a piss poor choice to make (though when you think about it, it'd be like a prevention measure like the Street Fighter nude mod fiasco).

OK stupid question. How much ram should your pc have to run games decently. Because I have a Lenove gaming pad 3 and it just uses about 6 gigs of ram.

Depends on the game in question.
...If you are playing games from the 90's... 1MB-256MB is generally sufficient.
But for modern high-end games of today, 32GB is the current sweet spot in terms of price/performance.
If you are only playing mainstream/casual/moderate games like Fortnite, then 16GB is more than enough.
It is also very dependent on the other hardware... No point dropping 128GB of Ram into a PC that only has a Core 2 Quad to run Hogwarts Legacy and hoping it will make the difference.
But if your PC only has 6GB of Ram... Then you are likely running with a 4GB and a 2GB stick which will impact performance anyway, especially if the device is using integrated graphics... You need two of the same size modules for more bandwidth.

The Wednesday news:
SALES /PLAYER COUNT & DEALS
The eleven-year-old Arma 3 has sold over half a million copies during Steam Summer Sale 2024
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/the-eleven-year-old-arma-3-has-apparently-sold-half-a-million-copies-during-steam-summer-sale-2024/
Now here is a pleasant surprise. Bohemia Interactive has announced that its massive military sandbox, Arma 3, has sold over half a million units during the Steam Summer Sale 2024.
Arma 3 is like no other game. So, it’s pretty great to see the game still selling well. Seriously, Arma 3 originally came out in 2013. That’s over a decade. And, in a time when a lot of games struggle to come close to 500K sales, this old title has managed to exceed that figure.
Bohemia claimed that the game sold around 100K copies on the sale’s first day. As the team noted, that’s the highest number of copies sold in a single day dating all the way back to the initial Arma 3 Alpha release in March 2013.
GOG has a new sale, sorry, promo and three Limited Time Offers, instead of the Deals of the Day:
Steam has three new sales:
Fanatical’s new bundle is the BYO Platformania Bundle, with 16 games to choose for your 3+, 5+ or 7+ bundle: https://www.fanatical.com/en/pick-and-mix/build-your-own-platformania-bundle.

This mod brings 2B and 2P from NieR: Automata to Elden Ring with their classic outfits, as well as with hair and cloth physics
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/this-mod-brings-2b-and-2p-from-nier-automata-to-elden-ring-with-their-classic-outfits-as-well-as-with-hair-and-cloth-physics/
Elden Ring and NieR Automata fans, here is something special for you today. Modder ‘shintheweapon’ has released a mod that allows you to play the base game and the latest DLC of Elden Ring as 2B or 2P from NieR Automata.
This mod has the classic outfits of 2B and 2P, and it has full hair and cloth physics. It also comes with 3 great katanas, 1 straight sword, 1 great sword, 1 great shield and 1 medium shield.
From what I can tell, this is an expanded version of the 2B Mod that shintheweapon released in February 2024. If you are still using that mod, you can skip this one. After all, the modder has already released a new version that made it compatible with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
In short, this is just a character swap mod. So, don’t expect any custom movesets for 2B or 2P. Still, the 3D models look great, so this is something that some of you may find interesting.

Bloodbath Studios has released its medieval open world RPG, Crestfallen: Medieval Survival, on Steam Early Access. And, from the looks of it, this is the first PC game that has the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 listed as its recommended GPU.

Still Wakes the Deep Patch 1.3 adds support for NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR and Intel XeSS to the Game Pass version
https://www.dsogaming.com/patches/still-wakes-the-deep-patch-1-3-adds-support-for-nvidia-dlss-amd-fsr-and-intel-xess-to-the-game-pass-version/
A lot of Game Pass PC players were disappointed with Still Wakes the Deep. You see, this new UE5 adventure game did not support NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR and Intel XeSS at launch. However, The Chinese Room released yesterday a patch to fix this.

The news, part two:
Manor Lords dev confirms that he's 'working on fishing ponds for the next update' which should only take a 'few weeks'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/city-builder/manor-lords-dev-confirms-that-hes-working-on-fishing-ponds-for-the-next-update-which-should-only-take-a-few-weeks/
Manor Lords developer Greg "Slavic Magic" Styczeń announced in the usual fashion (a random post on X) that he's working on a new feature for the medieval city builder—interactive fish ponds.

Larian isn't done with Baldur's Gate 3 yet: 'We still have a few things up our sleeve' after Patch 7 goes live
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/larian-isnt-done-with-baldurs-gate-3-yet-we-still-have-a-few-things-up-our-sleeve-after-patch-7-goes-live/
The next big update to Baldur's Gate 3, officially known as Patch 7, is coming in September, and ahead of that Larian has dropped an in-depth update on what the patch will include. The studio is also now taking applications for a closed beta test for the patch, which is set to go live—the beta test, that is, not the patch—on July 22.
CD Projekt's Pawel Sasko tells the inspiring tale of how an Estonian beet farmer in Australia became a senior quest designer on The Witcher 4

One of the big strengths of CD Projekt's Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 RPGs is that they're so extensively moddable. That's great for players of the game, who get to take advantage of new features and add-ons the original developers never imagined, but it's also good news for budding game developers who dream of one day working in Warsaw. In a lengthy interview with Flow Gaming, CD Projekt's Pawel Sasko said the studio draws extensively from the modding community when it's hiring.
No Man's Sky goes 5.0 with a sweeping tech update that's 'adding things the community has almost given up hope on ever happening'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/sim/no-mans-sky-goes-50-with-a-sweeping-tech-update-thats-adding-things-the-community-has-almost-given-up-hope-on-ever-happening/
At this point, I think No Man's Sky might be the most developed non-MMO in history. Hello Games is hard at work on a whole new open world the size of the actual Earth, and yet, somehow, the siren song of the studio's initially disastrous (and subsequently more than redeemed) space sim keeps pulling it back for more updates.
Minecraft players manage to destroy their server after sending a nuclear reactor into meltdown, 'I snuck a fish into the reactor'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/survival-crafting/minecraft-players-manage-to-destroy-their-server-after-sending-a-nuclear-reactor-into-meltdown-i-snuck-a-fish-into-the-reactor/
Minecraft players are no strangers to making odd and complex creations in the sandbox game. Previously, we've seen all sorts, like one player who made a redstone PC so they could play Minecraft in Minecraft or when someone else created a word processor in the crafting game.
Over the last decade or so, I've learned never to underestimate a Minecraft player, which is why when I saw that a group of players had managed to recreate a nuclear reactor in a custom server and then subsequently blow it up, I was actually too surprised.

It depends on quite a few things, like the resolution you're gaming at, the kind of games you play and how old or new those games are, to name a few. Nowadays, 16GB seems to be the sweet spot, but some new games are shown using more than that.
If you want to learn more about this, Hardware Unboxed recently made a video about it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mklCPWNyJC0
Or you can check the written article here: https://www.techspot.com/review/2852-how-much-ram/
Please note that the tests were done using max setting possible and at 1440p. Running at 1080p and with less than max setting will reduce the amount of RAM needed.

Ok, another stupid question:
Why do you not know the PC gaming basics when you've "played" through 4800 PC games?
Conina said: Ok, another stupid question: Why do you not know the PC gaming basics when you've "played" through 4800 PC game |
I too would like to know this, because that's way more games than I've ever owned across all clients.
Also that's a lot of dedicated hours to multiple games. More than what most of my friends have played in their 10-13years on Steam.
How does one own that many games and put in that many hours, but does not contain basic hardware knowledge.
