Del Complex unveils a sea-floating AI platform featuring 10K NVIDIA H100 GPUs

https://videocardz.com/newz/del-complex-unveils-a-sea-floating-ai-platform-featuring-10k-nvidia-h100-gpus

"Del Complex have announced a Blue Sea Frontier Compute Cluster (BSFCC) which is an AI platform that can float on international waters and could be considered a sovereign nation state.

The goal is to circumvent the restrictions imposed by the recent U.S. Artificial Intelligence Executive Order and the EUs Artificial Intelligence Act. The company holds the belief that these actions are aimed at centralizing the management of artificial intelligence development under the guise of safeguarding the public. The only real solution is to relocate the business elsewhere, but that elsewhere does not necessarily have to be fixed to one position.

The Compute Cluster is a sea-based platform that can host up to 10,000 NVIDIA H100 (Hopper) data-center GPUs. This is a supercomputer floating on water that uses deep sea water for cooling. The platform has solar panels, but they aren’t enough to make the platform completely self-sufficient. The platform is powered by gas and steam turbines."

These Ai companies are nuts but it really goes to show how crazy the Ai race has been

The MI300 is an incredible piece of tech that has been seemingly driving a lot of buzz in the datacenter market, like Volta or Rome levels of buzz.

It remains to be seen whether they'll deliver it in time since Broadwell is probably less than a year from now.

I don't think it will matter if Blackwell is out or not. Nvidia likely won't have enough supply to meet demand anyway so just by having their foot in the door, AMD should be able to make tons of money.

So AMD will sell Zen 2 and Zen 3 chips well into 2025?

Zen 2 I can understand, Mendocino make reasonably good Athlon chips at this point (keep in mind the last ones were still on Zen+ and Athlons really don't need more than that) though really it's Ryzen 3 and especially Ryzen 5 versions are problematic. Keeping Rembrandt around as a budget option for this long is less okay. I would have been fine if they kept it for next year and kicking Barcelo-R from the lineup, but by the looks of it that will only happen in 2025. Maybe AMD was hoping more sales for this chip, but then again, they could have released a desktop version last year already if they got too many of them.

The only thing I dislike is the reliance on Windows scheduler. We have seen quite a few times when Windows scheduler has the intendency to goof things up, especially with major OS upgrades. Half-Life 3 Citadel Unleashed Mod is now available for download
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/half-life-3-citadel-unleashed-mod-is-now-available-for-download/
Ancient Freeman Media has kept its promise and released the Half-Life 3 Citadel Unleashed Mod for PC. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a mod for Half-Life 2 that picks up where Half-Life 2 Episode 4 Eli left off.
In Half-Life 3 Citadel Unleashed, you get to wander through a world filled with cities, desolate areas, and lots more. The folks who made this mod worked really hard to make sure these places are exciting and fit perfectly into the Half-Life world. Or at least that’s what they claim.
In Half-Life 3 Citadel Unleashed, you’ll dive into a brand-new story that’ll test your smarts and make you feel even more connected to the Half-Life world. You’ll meet some new faces who can help you, get in your way, or just make the journey more interesting. Each of these characters has their own cool story to share. Plus, the team added cool new ways to play, awesome weapons, and some puzzles.

Skywind, the Morrowind Remake Mod for Skyrim, gets new in-engine sneak peek trailer
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/skywind-the-morrowind-remake-mod-for-skyrim-gets-new-in-engine-sneak-peek-trailer/
Yesterday, the folks working on the Skywind mod, a project to remake Morrowind in Skyrim, shared a cool sneak peek trailer. This short video gives us a quick look at the updated environments they’re creating for the game. It’s a fun teaser, so make sure to watch it.
Skywind is a free fan-made mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It’s a project that aims to recreate the world of Morrowind with Skyrim’s graphics and features. Not only that but Skywind’s user interface, combat, graphics, and system requirements will be similar to those of Skyrim. So, if you can run Skyrim, you’ll be good to go for Skywind.

This Studio Ghibli stylized teaser for Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 5 looks insane
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/studio-ghibli-teaser-zelda-ocarina-of-time-unreal-engine-5/
Zelda fans, check this out. RwanLink just dropped a cool teaser trailer for a fan-made Zelda: Ocarina of Time film, and it’s done in the style of Studio Ghibli. He made it using Unreal Engine 5, and it looks absolutely mind-blowing. Don’t miss it; you’ve got to watch it.
In case you didn’t know, RwanLink has made some other cool fan videos of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 5. You should definitely check out these videos. So far, the artist has recreated Goron City, Kokiri Forest and Zora’s Domain. They all look fantastic, so be sure to check them out.
What’s super cool about this new teaser trailer is the Studio Ghibli art style. Instead of just making Ocarina of Time look better, the artist went for something totally fresh. And guess what? It totally worked. I know some of you might not be fans of our UE5 articles, but seriously, give this teaser a watch. It’s definitely worth your time.

This Red Dead Redemption 2 Mod adds random world events
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/this-red-dead-redemption-2-mod-adds-random-world-events/
Modder ‘crossed99’ just dropped a cool new mod for the Red Dead Redemption 2. This mod adds random events to the game to make it feel more dynamic and alive.
Going into more details, this mod adds three types of events. The first event has bounty hunters trying to capture someone. The second event introduces fistfights between two or more people. And then the third and final event adds shootouts between two groups.
The modder says that these events happen totally by chance. So, sometimes the person on the run might escape, or he/she could defeat the bounty hunter. There can also be shootouts between the cops, outlaws, or regular folks. And if you join in, you might become a wanted person, depending on what’s going down.

The news, part two:

Ubisoft is taking another bunch of old games out behind the woodshed
https://www.pcgamer.com/ubisoft-is-taking-another-bunch-of-old-games-out-behind-the-woodshed/
In what is becoming almost an annual event, though hardly the celebratory kind, Ubisoft has announced it is closing the servers for a bunch of the publisher's older titles. In the past Ubisoft has somewhat messed-up the messaging on such things, leaving players under the false impression that the affected titles would become unplayable, but now it's being clear that its "decommissioning" will only affect the online side of these titles, and you'll still be able to play the singleplayer elements.
>> Speaking of Ubisoft, they've used AI created art in their social media accounts, and people hate it.

Grim Fandango released on October 30, 1998, and so yesterday marked the 25th anniversary of arguably the greatest adventure game LucasArts ever made. Yeah OK, OK, simmer down Monkey Island fans: it's Manny Calavera's time to shine. And to mark the occasion Double Fine, the studio founded by Grim Fandango writer Tim Schafer, has published a compilation of reminiscences from fans and the developers and collected some of the finest cosplay and other bits people have made inspired by the game.

Alt-history multiplayer FPS '83 is back from the dead under a new studio, and they're looking for testers
https://www.pcgamer.com/alt-history-multiplayer-fps-83-is-back-from-the-dead-under-a-new-studio-and-theyre-looking-for-testers/
'83 was announced in 2019 as a persistent FPS for up to 80 players set in an alt-history world where the Cold War turned hot. Development was being handled by Antimatter Games, the team behind the excellent Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, but work was put on hold in May 2022 so the team could focus on its IGI Origins reboot, and then it all ran aground a year later when parent company Enad Global 7 elected to close the studio. The fates of '83 and IGI Origins were unclear in the wake of the studio shutdown, but it sure didn't look good for either of them.
Now, though, it seems that at least one of them is back from the presumed-dead. A studio called Blue Dot Games announced on Discord earlier this week that it's looking for playtesters for a pre-alpha build of '83 as it prepares to move forward with development.

Remedy's Max Payne remakes and Control spinoff are now in 'production readiness' but the success of Alan Wake 2 might mean they're still a long way off

Alan Wake 2 is Remedy's big project of the moment, but it's far from the only thing the studio is working on. Today, as part of its most recent financial report, the company shared a look at how its other projects, including a sequel to Control and remakes of the first two Max Payne games, are coming along.

CD Projekt wants the Cyberpunk series to experience 'a similar evolution' to The Witcher games
https://www.pcgamer.com/cd-projekt-wants-the-cyberpunk-series-to-experience-a-similar-evolution-to-the-witcher-games/
As troubled as Cyberpunk 2077 was at launch, it's remarkable to think back to what a CD Projekt Red game looked like just 12 years before. The first Witcher game is almost comically rudimentary next to the lavishly motion captured, ray traced first-person world of Cyberpunk. But it was fun, with a fantasy setting that felt different to other RPGs I'd played at the time. The graphical leap in 2011's The Witcher 2 was nothing short of stunning, and the quality of the sidequests in The Witcher 3's massive open world made CD Projekt my favorite RPG developer just four years later. I'm thinking about that progression now that CD Projekt is moving on to work on Cyberpunk 2077's sequel—and so are the developers.
"Consider The Witcher games and how much they changed with each installment. We want a similar evolution here," narrative director Igor Sarzyński said in a recent interview with PC Gamer.

Bungie fans outraged as beloved Destiny composers and other veteran employees are put out of work
https://www.pcgamer.com/bungie-fans-outraged-as-beloved-destiny-composers-and-other-veteran-employees-are-put-out-of-work/
There have been an awful lot of layoffs across the game industry in 2023, but against that bleak backdrop this week's cuts at Bungie came as a shock. Fans are mourning the loss of a number of long-term employees, particularly composers Michael Salvatori, who wrote countless memorable tracks for both Destiny games as well as earlier Bungie projects going all the way back to Myth: The Fallen Lords, and Michael Sechrist, the composer of Deep Stone Lullaby, which we called "the most gorgeous piece of game music that you've never heard."

Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 (which I'll be calling 'Bloodlines 2' from here on) has had a troubled history. (...)
I had the pleasure of speaking to TCR's Arone Le Bray, the game's narrative designer, about the project, and particularly about the game's newly announced protagonist Phyre (pronounced "Fire"). They'll be fully voiced in the vein of RPG protagonists like Mass Effect's Commander Shepard, Cyberpunk 2077's V, or the Inquisitor from Dragon Age Inquisition. That's a major departure from the first game, which leant on a more Dragon Age: Origins-meets-Bethesda style of doing things.
>> It will also take a page from Baldur's Gate 3 narrative design.

https://www.pcgamer.com/jiminy-cricket-lies-of-p-isnt-just-getting-dlc-its-getting-a-full-sequel-too/
We learned in October, unofficially, that the popular Pinocchiosouls game Lies of P is getting DLC. Now it's official, and it's not only DLC: A full sequel is planned too.
Word of the sequel came via a "director's letter," actually a video, in which game director Ji Won Choi announced that Lies of P has now surpassed one million copies sold, always a nice benchmark of success. To celebrate, Choi confirmed that DLC is in fact on the way, and in a very indirect way, also revealed plans for an all-new game.
