I know it's AMD that's been getting most of the blame for the recent DLSS "blockage", but looking at Moore's contacts, this feels more in line with how Nvidia is putting more and more focus on Ai/Data Cents (Also the bit where they talked about "drumming up Anti-AMD talks for clickbaiters to gobble up", has something to it).

Yea I wouldn't believe that idiot for a second. The fact is Starfield was considered an AMD exclusive sponsorship from AMD themselves where AMD sent an engineer to optimize the game. Saying that it was Nvidia putting more focus on Ai/Data centre instead of day 1 game optimization doesn't make any sense because:

a) Intel GPUs were also affected, significantly more so
b) Starfield is one of the very few games that uses AMD specific architectural features not available at a hardware level on both Nvidia and Intel GPUs
c) Lies of P (next big title) which is an AMD Sponsored title has Nvidia day 1 drivers optimized for GPUs going all the way to Maxwell from 2014. Meanwhile AMD's day 1 drivers skipped Polaris and Vega GPUs and only had drivers for RDNA and newer GPUs. Remember, Vega 7 came out in 2019.

https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-releases-graphics-driver-for-lies-of-p-rdna-dgpu-support-only

d) MLID is an idiot proven by his past stupidity. He claimed with very high confidence that N33 which is a 7600XT will be as fast as a 6900XT. So don't believe anything that retard says.

Also Lies of P goes back to the norm so Starfield is 100% an exception than the rule.

The Monday news:

SALES /PLAYER COUNT & DEALS

6 million people played Ghostwire: Tokyo
https://www.pcgamer.com/6-million-people-played-ghostwire-tokyo/
Ghostwire: Tokyo may not have set the world on fire with its combination of open world collectathon, first-person spellcaster, and horror game, but it certainly had its fans. Enough of them that the official Twitter account is now boasting, "6 million players have explored #GhostwireTokyo's spooky streets! That doesn't make those eerie alleyways any less haunted, of course…"
It certainly helps that Tango Gameworks' 2022 release is available on Game Pass, though even there a game has to make it above a certain threshold of interest for people to bother installing it. Especially if it's got an install size over 20GB, as Ghostwire: Tokyo does.

GOG has two ne Deals of the Day and three new Sales for us:

Steam has two new deals:

The guys at Humble Bundle have launched the Untold Tales of Adventure Bundle, with up to 11 items to get during the next 16 days: https://www.humblebundle.com/games/untold-tales-adventure.

And Fanatical has two new deals:

Unity apologizes for controversial new pricing scheme, 'will be making changes to the policy'
https://www.pcgamer.com/unity-apologizes-for-controversial-new-pricing-scheme-will-be-making-changes-to-the-policy/
When game engine company Unity announced a change to its pricing plan last week, the response from developers was overwhelmingly negative. The change would mean developers would be charged an increasing fee as they crossed set thresholds every time their games were installed. It was called, among plenty of other things, "an astonishing scumbag move".
In addition to criticism from game developers, Unity was sent a "potential threat" that was serious enough the company closed two of its offices and canceled a CEO meeting after receiving it.
Now, Unity has issued an official apology and explained that it will "be making changes" to the announced policy. "We have heard you", the statement begins. "We apologize for the confusion and angst the runtime fee policy we announced on Tuesday caused. We are listening, talking to our team members, community, customers, and partners, and will be making changes to the policy. We will share an update in a couple of days. Thank you for your honest and critical feedback."
>> Imho, too little, too late. The damage is done and I don't see a way they can fix it because, even if they scrap all the announced changes, the trust is gone. By the way, the threads were made by an Unity employee (source: Eurogamer).

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

Starfield gets a 4.5GB 4K Mod that overhauls numerous textures
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/starfield-gets-a-4-5gb-4k-mod-that-overhauls-numerous-textures/
Modder “Skurkbro” has released a new 4K Texture Pack for Starfield that weighs around 4.5GB in size and overhauls a lot of the game’s textures.
This pack is compatible with the 8K planet textures we shared a while ago. And, since there is no ETA on when Starfield HD Reworked will come out, we highly recommend using them (at least for now).
This pack promises to utilize everything that the current engine is capable of, such as a full PBR system with a lot of attention to details. All textures available here will only be in 4K currently, and there are no plans for any 8K version of it.
This pack is a WIP and currently covers gravel surfaces, sand, wood, concrete, and a part of New Atlantis.
>> There are some screenshots and an almost 4 minutes video.

Fallout 4 gets an extremely detailed LOD Mod that reduces distant objects/shadows/textures pop-ins
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/fallout-4-gets-an-extremely-detailed-lod-mod-that-reduces-distant-objects-shadows-textures-pop-ins/
Modder ‘RX9000’ has released a must-have HD LOD Mod for Fallout 4 that improves the game’s distant objects and textures. Since this mod will improve the game’s dated LODs and will reduce objects/environmental pop-ins, it is a must for everyone who wants to replay this Fallout game.
According to the modder, this is a beautiful, modern LOD Mod with defined textures, and more 3D models. UltraLOD Feather attempts to have minimal pop-in with all resources optimized to the maximum to obtain the maximum possible performance.
Going into slightly more tech details, the pack features terrain textures that were formed in 512. The modder has also edited these improved textures to remove the pattern using a grain blend filter.
>> There are some comparison screenshots.

First trailer for Half-Life 3 Citadel Unleashed Mod
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/first-trailer-for-half-life-3-citadel-unleashed-mod/
Ancient Freeman Media has released the first gameplay trailer for its Half-Life 3 Citadel Unleashed project. Half-Life 3 Citadel Unleashed is basically a mod for Half-Life 2 that continues the story of Half-Life 2 Episode 4 Eli.
Now in case you didn’t know, Ancient Freeman Media has already released two HL3 mods, aiming to continue the story of Half-Life 2. The first one is called Half-Life 2: Episode 3 The Return and the second is Half-Life 2 Episode 4 Eli. These mods are relatively short, so don’t expect much from them.
The modding team claims that Half-Life 3 Citadel Unleashed will be longer than its previous mods. To be honest, though, I wasn’t really particularly impressed by its gameplay trailer. It looks fine for a mod. However, it’s nowhere close to what I was hoping.
Now I know, this project is from a single modder so we should all temper our expectations. Still, its title seems more exciting than the mod itself. So, here is hoping that Ancient Freeman Media will pleasantly surprise us whenever it decides to release this mod.

Portal 2 VR Mod is now available for download
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/portal-2-vr-mod-is-now-available-for-download/
Modder ‘Gistix’ has just released the first version of the Portal 2 VR Mod that lets you experience Valve’s puzzle game in VR. Portal 2 VR allows you to experience the entire game in 6DOF VR with full motion controls.
In order to showcase this mod in action, YouTube’s ‘Flat2VR’ shared the following video. This video packs 20 minutes of gameplay footage, and it will give you an idea of what you can expect from it.
Do note that this is still a WIP project. In future versions, Gistix plans to improve overall CPU usage as the CPU is currently underutilized. The in-game UI and pause menu are also broken, and the 6DoF and Roomscale need to be reimplemented.

Mortal Kombat 1 just got an unofficial patch, enabling 60fps in Intros, Fatal Blows & Fatalities
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/mortal-kombat-1-just-got-an-unofficial-patch-enabling-60fps-in-intros-fatal-blows-fatalities/
Modder ‘ermaccer’ has released an unofficial patch for the PC version of Mortal Kombat 1 that enables 60fps in Intros, Fatal Blows and Fatalities.
For those unaware, Mortal Kombat 1 has its cinematics, intros, fatal blows and fatalities locked at 30fps. So, basically, this unofficial 60fps patch removes this cap from most of them. Do note, though, that the cinematic cut-scenes still run at 30fps.
As ermaccer noted, this 60fps patch may also introduce a number of graphical glitches. For instance, some elements might be broken during previously capped sections such as character faces or eyes. And while all fatalities are now at 60fps, their animations are still at 30fps (as that’s how NetherRealm recorded them).
In short, while this is an amazing patch that most PC gamers will appreciate, it’s not perfect. And, from the looks of it, the only ones who will be able to provide a proper 60fps patch are the developers themselves. However, since Mortal Kombat 11 never received a 60fps patch for PC, we can safely say that QLOC won’t bother unlocking the framerate for the game’s cinematics.

I love a trailer that properly communicates what a game offers, and the latest video of Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin is a fine example of the form. In less than four minutes, it succinctly yet precisely explains all of the upcoming RTS' major features, leaving me with a far better idea of what to expect when it launches in two month's time.

The announcement of the new game is accompanied by a teaser trailer as a hulking, iconic MadCat mech drops into a verdant jungle before cutting away to a reference to the classic MechWarrior 2 box art.

Insomniac Games has let slip a new trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 where they detail new gameplay changes show off a greatly expanded map for the sequel. Out of the blue, seven-year-old FPS Titanfall 2 has fully working multiplayer again
https://www.pcgamer.com/out-of-the-blue-seven-year-old-fps-titanfall-2-has-fully-working-multiplayer-again/
Beloved robot friend simulator and first-person shooter Titanfall 2 has had a matchmaking problem for years. Even after its previous server issues were fixed, players would still be disconnected if they had to queue for any length of time. And, given that Titanfall 2 came out in 2016, it's pretty likely you'd be waiting in that lobby a while.
Surprisingly, an official update has appeared out of nowhere and got it working again. Players are now flooding back, with Titanfall 2 hitting a peak player count of 22,604 in the last 24 hours. What's more, the featured playlist rotation has started being updated again, and weapon loadouts in the 1v1 coliseum mode have changed.

There are a lot of easter eggs and oddities in Baldur's Gate 3 and it seems like there's plenty left to uncover yet. For instance, one dataminer has just managed to trigger a dialogue scene in which bestest barbarian Karlach becomes aware she's a character in a game and looks right through the screen into your soul.

Roberto is a dog. Roberto loves to carry around very long sticks, canes, poles, pipes, and other such extended, often cylindrical objects. This is Roberto's calling in life.
Your job, in Stick to the Plan, is to help Roberto get his sticks from one point to another. It's an adorably simple puzzle game from indie dev Dead Pixel Tales, and it focuses on funny new solutions to puzzles and weird twists rather than brain-burning difficulty. It's what I'd call a relaxing puzzle game, one that delights you rather than frustrates you.

Update: 'Frankengun' Destiny glitch has been patched, hope you had your fun

It's always a challenge managing a meticulously crafted MMO sandbox, but Destiny 2's eternal struggle for a meta no one will whine about has been absolutely turned on its head by yesterday's discovery of Frankenguns. Thanks to a crafting glitch, players have been churning out ungodly firearm chimeras to melt raid bosses in seconds. Bungie's taken it in stride, acknowledging the absurd fun of it all, but is also quickly rolling out a fix to bring all those wacky guns to heel.
Update: It was fun while it lasted, but Destiny 2's assault rifles and grenade launchers won't be blasting away like shotguns any more. A hotfix—the first of several—has disabled a selection of frames and perks on Exotic and Legendary crafted weapons, including "Osteo Striga, Revision Zero, Dead Man's Tale, Dead Messenger, Vexcalibur, and all three Exotic class glaives" Bungie has announced.

Marvel's Avengers goes on sale one last time before being delisted forever

At the start of the year, Crystal Dynamics announced that Marvel's Avengers would be delisted. Following a release that publisher Square Enix called "disappointing", the live-service spandex-em-up was put on life support, with a final update in March and a subsequent patch in April. As of September 30 it won't be available to buy on digital storefronts, but until then it's on sale on Steam for 90% off.

My new greatest fear is meeting the two-faced monster from this survival horror game that combines retro pixel art with FMV
https://www.pcgamer.com/my-new-greatest-fear-is-meeting-the-two-faced-monster-from-this-survival-horror-game-that-combines-retro-pixel-art-with-fmv/
Once thought far too cheesy to bring with us into the modern gaming era, FMV has been enjoying a bit of a renaissance over the last decade, thanks to games like Her Story and Alan Wake. If you're not familiar, it stands for full-motion video—in other words, it's when live-action filmed sequences are used in videogames. Also, it turns out it can be intensely creepy.
Even in this new age of FMV appreciation, upcoming survival horror game Tenebris Somnia uses it in an unusual way. As a woman investigating a house plagued by terrors, you explore a pixel art world reminiscent of classic point-and-click adventure games—Day of the Tentacle is what it brings to mind, for me. Colourful and a little cartoony, it doesn't strike too creepy a tone—that is, until the game cuts to an FMV sequence for a closer look at a grisly scene, or the introduction of a disturbingly deformed monster.

Game that raised over $1.5 million on Kickstarter defends its use of AI art: 'It's certainly going to hurt people [but] I don’t think this is going to go back in the bag'

It's been less than two months since Kickstarter updated and outlined its policy on AI art, and it's already not going well.
(...)
The Kickstarter for "More Terraforming Mars! " promises an expansion to FryxGames's 2016 board game, which grew so popular as to receive a video game adaptation. At the time of writing, the base game's still ranked 6th on BoardGameGeek, below games like Ark Nova and Gloomhaven.
The Kickstarter has gathered over $1.5 million from over 13,000 backers, but it only answers the demands of Kickstarter's Consent & Credit policy with a bit of a shrug: "We were not involved in the development of any of the AI tools used in this project, we have ourselves neither provided works nor asked for consent for any works used to produce AI-generated content." It also mentions that it used "MidJourney, Fotor, and the Adobe Suite of products". MidJourney is one of the AI programs explicitly mentioned in the above lawsuit, so alarm bells are already ringing.

Premier League superstar 'shocked' about how poorly EA Sports FC rates his abilities
https://www.pcgamer.com/premier-league-superstar-shocked-about-how-poorly-ea-sports-fc-rates-his-abilities/
Manchester United and England striker Marcus Rashford was recently doing some press duties with the Premier League, during which the footballer was given a sneak peek at the EA Sports FC 24 version of Marcus Rashford. The player's form vastly improved in the 2022/23 season, with 30 goals in all competitions, and this is reflected in some improved ratings on the EAFC 24 card (the new version of FIFA Ultimate Team) over the FIFA 23 version. But not, apparently enough for Rashford.
The Rashford card's overall rating has improved from an 83 in FIFA 23 to an 85 in EAFC 24. But when taken through how the game breaks down his skills, Rashford was unpleasantly surprised at points.

The funny thing is that, in my opinion, both are doing it for the same reason: Starbreese has (or had) money troubles, so they need all the possible goodwill to sell as many games as possible, and removing the hated Denuvo may help them. On the other hand, the ones behind Lies of P have realized that people are looking forward to their game, and have thought that adding Denuvo will ensure that people has to their game.

Endless amounts of rumours flying everywhere so take them all with some salt. But PS4/One level performance is about where I'd expect.

While that mail doesn't tell us anything regarding the tech details of the console, it does reveal us some info.

  1. They have the education to refer Nintendo's Furukawa with the -san term even in internal documents.
  2. It tells us the expected performance of the console.
  3. It shows that Nintendo shared its plans with third party publishers almost a year ago, and likely at least 18 months before the launch of the console, more than enough time to prepare some ports for it
  4. Last, but quite important, it shows that Activision is actually interested in developing good games for the console, a change from past launches.

But well, that likely means that there will be a CoD port at launch.

NVIDIA Blackwell GB100 to utilize MCM design, GPU unit structure to see major reorganization

It was only a matter of time till Nvidia got on the chiplet train. Likely won't come to Consumer space for a while though.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 rumors: 2.9 GHz boost clock, 1.5 TB/s bandwidth and 128MB of L2 cache

https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-5090-rumors-2-9-ghz-boost-clock-1-5-tb-s-bandwidth-and-128mb-of-l2-cache

Considering the rumours of no high end Radeon GPUs next generation, the price would likely be crazy high. Still should be brutally fast.

Funny how we have rumors regarding the specs of the 5000 series but we still don't know what architecture it will use.

Next-Gen Nintendo Switch is close to PS4/Xbox One performance, Activision internal emails claim

One thing to keep in mind is that MS did sign a 10 year call of duty deal with Nintendo so they will be making games for the Switch 2 regardless of what it's power profile will be. But if Nintendo is able to get a nice power profile for the switch 2 that makes it easy for third party game devs to port it over, we may be able to finally break the curse of Nintendo consoles failing "every other generation." The price will be the big question though.

I didn't express myself properly, but you're absolutely right.

I meant a proper CoD port, because with the Switch we've seen some releases that were cloud streamed games, which is a bit like cheating.

But well, it's not like Activision launches (m)any other games besides CoD, right?
