Atlas Fallen got its first review from a German source : https://steamcommunity.com/linkfilter/?url=https://pixelcritics.com/atlas-fallen/test/">https://pixelcritics.com/atlas-fallen/test/

7,7 / 10

PRO:
Interesting story
Cool combat combo flow
Solid synchronization
Enemies with different hit zones
Crunchy, challenging level of difficulty that never gets unfair
Pretty world to explore
Numerous skills to find and combine
No overly stretched open-world playtime

CONTRA:
Another nameless hero
Somewhat empty world
Simply side quests
Hit feedback or block timing looks oddly wrong
Easy / clumsy dialogues
Only 3 weapons
Nyaal talks too much

PLAYTIME: 25-30 hours

FFVI is awesome.

I played the SNES, PS1, GBA versions before - this is likely my 14th or 15th time playing (I lost count) but first time playing the PC Mobile remake lol

Yes many people put FFVI as their favorite Final Fantasy so I don't doubt it's really great.

Played it back in the day, got to the 3rd disc on Xbox 360 and the difficulty sky rocketed and I just lost interest as I would have needed to level grind.
Even then I thought it looked good, despite being 576p resolution... Ended up playing it on the CRT.

FF8 is still my favorite entry so far...

Yes, 8 is my favorite for now.

32-inch 240Hz 4K OLED monitors are coming — but I wouldn’t preorder Dough

https://www.theverge.com/2023/8/8/23823844/dough-32-inch-4k-oled-monitor-spectrum-black

"Targetting April 2024. Prices start at $699 for matte or $799 for the Gorilla Glass finish, before increasing in fits and starts to what are currently slated to be final retail prices of $1,099 and $1,299, respectively."

Boys, while I wouldn't buy from them, if Asus or Alienware comes out with similar versions of these QD-OLED panels for around $1300, it will legit be the end game monitor we have been waiting for!

He left before all the Zen 4 + RDNA 3 shit show started. What's also interesting is Scott Herkelman who has been the face and SVP of Radeon has changed his twitter bio from "SVP of Radeon" to "Work for AMD." I am guessing Lisa might be cleaning house after RDNA 3.

Here’s RPCSX running the first PS4 game with 60fps on PC
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/heres-rpcsx-running-the-first-ps4-game-with-60fps-on-pc/
On July 1st, we informed you about a new Playstation 4 emulator for the PC from the creators of RPCS3. And, after just a month, RPCSX can finally run the first PS4 game with 60fps.
YouTube’s ‘BrutalSam’ has shared the following gameplay video, showcasing Sonic Mania running via RPCSX. And although this is a 2D game (and not a demanding one), it’s incredible witnessing this new Playstation 4 emulator running the game at full speed.
In order to capture this gameplay video, BrutalSam used an Intel Core i7 6700K with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060. BrutalSam has also included some performance stats that give us a better idea about the current PC requirements of RPCSX. And, as the YouTuber noted, video recording reduced the overall framerate by 10fps.
As we can see, RPCSX requires a high-end CPU. For even running this 2D game, the PS4 emulator used all of the available CPU power of the i7 6700K. On the other hand, GPU usage sits at 30-40%. And… well… this was to be expected. After all, Sonic Mania is a 2D game.

Max Payne 2 Mod brings back Sam Lake’s face & adds a first-person mode
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/max-payne-2-mod-brings-back-sam-lakes-face-adds-a-first-person-mode/
Max Payne fans, here is something special for you. Modder ‘hevitonttu22’ has released a new version of his Max Payne 2 Mod that brings back to the game the face of Sam Lake, and introduces an experimental first-person mode.
(...)
Anyway, the latest version of Max Payne 2: Old School Remix also comes with some other tweaks and improvements. For instance, the modder has reworked the level loading screens and the in-game environmental effects. The game will also now end if Max kills any innocent people. So yeah, make sure to check your fire. Furthermore, the MP5 is now actually suppressed, M79 has a safety range, and Jackhammer has a higher rate of fire.

Baldur's Gate 3's first big penis mod makes you the 'pride of the orcs'
https://www.pcgamer.com/baldurs-gate-3s-first-big-penis-mod-makes-you-the-pride-of-the-orcs/
As far as crotch customization in videogames goes, vanilla Baldur's Gate 3 is doing a pretty good job. There are a handful of genitalia to choose from, and whatever package you desire isn't tied to gender identity or body type. That's already infinitely more genitals than most games let you see or tweak when creating characters, but it comes as no surprise that they're just not enough for Baldur's Gate 3's burgeoning modding scene.
The first 1.0 penis mod has dropped: "Pride of the Orcs - Larger genitalia for female HalfOrc" aims to correct what novice modder HyenaDingo considers an oversight of Baldur's Gate 3.
"Increases the penis size of the uncircumcised penis option for female half orcs," reads the description. "Being the strongest of the races, the physical attributes should match that."
>> There's a censored, but still very informative, screenshot of what the mod does.

Rockstar snubs PC with baffling Red Dead Redemption 1 port that's only coming to Switch and PS4
https://www.pcgamer.com/rockstar-snubs-pc-with-baffling-red-dead-redemption-1-port-thats-only-coming-to-switch-and-ps4/
In a move that stunned onlookers (me) and assembled experts (also me) are describing as "mystifying," Rockstar has finally come out and announced its freeing Red Dead Redemption 1 from its PS3 and Xbox 360 prison, by, uh, porting it to the Nintendo Switch and the… PS4? Apparently so!

'We haven't started on an expansion' to Baldur's Gate 3, Larian says, but it's not completely off the table
https://www.pcgamer.com/baldurs-gate-3-expansion-interview/
20 years ago, expansions for PC games were as commonplace as CD drives. If a game was a hit, it probably got an expansion—that was certainly the case for Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2, which both saw their stories continue in 20-hour-plus add-on adventures. When I heard Larian's Baldur's Gate 3 imposes a level cap of 12 out of D&D's possible 20, I thought that sounded like prime expansion setup to me. But Larian founder Swen Vincke says the studio isn't working on one, and it sounds unlikely (though not impossible) that it'll happen.
>> There's already a mod to raise the level cap to 20. WccfTech has an article with some mods.

Larian's boss worried Baldur's Gate 3 had peaked in early access, so its massive 800K concurrent player launch was 'way, way beyond' expectations
https://www.pcgamer.com/larians-boss-worried-baldurs-gate-3-had-peaked-in-early-access-so-its-massive-800k-concurrent-player-launch-was-way-way-beyond-expectations/
(...)
On Friday, approximately 24 hours after Baldur's Gate 3 launched on PC, Baldur's Gate 3 had already passed 500,000 concurrent players; at the time, Vincke tweeted that he had informed the IT team managing Larian's account login servers to expect something like 100,000 players max. Their last game, Divinity: Original Sin 2, had peaked at just over 90,000 concurrent players.
"This was not in the books at all. This was way, way beyond what we expected. There's also no precedent for it, for our type of game to have that many people playing concurrently ... Everybody here is very happy. You see a lot of smiling faces. At the same time, a lot of focus. We have reports coming in from people having issues, so we're focused on fixing those issues, that's very much on everyone's minds."

Blizzard bans Diablo 4 exploiters for intentionally unplugging their internet
https://www.pcgamer.com/blizzard-bans-diablo-4-exploiters-for-intentionally-unplugging-their-internet/
Last week, some fearless Diablo 4 players unplugged their internet to confuse the action RPG into letting them take non-seasonal characters into the seasonal mode. Blizzard has fixed the exploit—which allowed you to transfer valuable items back and forth—and has reportedly banned players who made use of it.

The new Street Fighter 6 character is really into nail art
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-new-street-fighter-6-character-is-really-into-nail-art/
Street Fighter 6's next character is "A.K.I.," a tall, sinuous woman with poisonous fingernails who'll make her series debut this fall. In her teaser trailer, Aki delights in poisoning someone who just wanted to buy some medicine, stalking about them in a circle and describing the horrible effects of the botulinum toxin she's just dosed them with. Not very nice!

Surprise! PvP dungeon crawler Dark and Darker is out in early access now
https://www.pcgamer.com/dark-and-darker-early-access-release/
The demo for PvP extraction dungeon crawler Dark and Darker was a hit earlier this year, but then Nexon alleged copyright infringement, it got booted off Steam, and its early access release was pushed back. Developer Ironmace persisted, going so far as to distribute a playtest by torrent, and this morning, Ironmace CEO Terence Park confirmed to PC Gamer that Dark and Darker would release in early access today.
That has now happened: Dark and Darker is available to purchase directly from the developer at www.darkanddarker.com. It's also available on a storefront called Chaf Games.

Red Dead Redemption fans turn their ire against Rockstar after bewildering PS4 port choice: 'Rockstar is Dutch and we've all become Arthur'
https://www.pcgamer.com/red-dead-redemption-fans-turn-their-ire-against-rockstar-after-bewildering-ps4-port-choice-rockstar-is-dutch-and-weve-all-become-arthur/
After months of speculation, the Red Dead Redemption remaster/remake saga hit a damp squelch of an anticlimax yesterday afternoon, when Rockstar proudly announced it was porting the basic version of the original PS3 and Xbox 360 game to the Nintendo Switch and PS4. For $50, no less. Fans were upset.
Fans continue to be upset, actually. Red Dead community hubs have gone into full-on mutiny mode, trading memes that excoriate and mock Rockstar's decision-making and encouraging one another to boycott the port entirely.
>> And no one's surprised.

Hallock working for Intel feels wrong, like some kind of mismatch. But that's how things in this business work.

Regarding the 7700XT and it's 12GB, it was to be expected, and it makes more sense than Nvidia's mess.

PS5, XS and PC will probably get a remaster, so this port will only go to lower-end hardware.

We had situations like this before due to such oddballs like the 3060 12GB, the 760Ti having only 2GB while anything from the 730 to the 760 (and it's AMD counterparts) having 4GB variants, Radeon Fury's low amount of VRAM... it's nothing new, just more reported upon this gen due to the VRAM limitations in modern games.

A for the 7700XT being worth it, it depends on the price. With the 7900GRE bein $650, I don't see the 7700XT at more than $450 to leave enough space for the 7800 variants and enough of a gap to the 7900 cards to be viable in any way, and $400 to be possible depending on the specs.
