AMD To Introduce Radeon RX 7800, RX 7700 & RX 7600 “RDNA 3” GPUs At Competitive Prices But Consumers Might Have To Wait A Bit

https://wccftech.com/amd-to-introduce-radeon-rx-7800-rx-7700-rx-7600-rdna-3-gpus-at-competitive-prices/

Sounds like a June launch as that is when the festival should be occuring. In the past when Radeon says competitive prices, it used to mean a good thing. These days, it usually just means slightly undercut Nvidia... Hopefully that won't be the case so we will see.

Let's hope they start launching them befor June, more so given that Nvidia is rumored to launch the 4070 in April (unless the latest rumors say otherwise).

NVIDIA Soars By 8% As Gaming Revenue Picks Up During Quarter

https://wccftech.com/nvidia-soars-by-8-as-gaming-revenue-picks-up-during-quarter/

Pretty good results. While they are down year over year, so is everyone else. But they are trending backup upwards and with good Lovelace sales and their continued investments into Ai, it is looking like they are starting to recover. It does show how inflated "gaming" (cough crypto cough) was during the mining boom.

TechPowerUp also has the results from AMD, although not in so much detail nor fancy graphics:

I think the only real dud so far is Intel. AMD has competitive CPUs for desktop and leadership in server while at the very least, Radeon can get revenue from full solutions in server + consoles and some revenue from PCs. Nvidia continues to have leadership in server and Ai as well as gaming pcs and the Switch. Intel feels like they have no real place outside of pcs which isn't a good place to be for such a large company. The crux of which stems from their continued reliance on their own fabs which has seen delays after delays. Idk what they need to do but man, they either need to revamp their fabs or start using TSMC for at least their datacenters otherwise Eypc is gonna continue to cuck them. And their GPU division is a long ways away from gaining any real relevance of success.

Yeah, Intel is the one that's taking the biggest hit from this "market correction".

Also, from the discussion from the news article, there's this bit of info about he R&D budget of the three players for 2022:

Intel = $17.53 Billion
Nvidia = $5.27 Billion
AMD = $5.05 Billion *This represents an over 75% increase from the previous year of approximately $2.5 billion, and for 2020, the R&D budget was under $2 billion.

While AMD is still the one that can spend less on it, it has managed inject a lot of money into that vital part of this business that, hopefully, will pay off in 2 or 3 years. And they do need it, because they're behind the other two when it coms to IA and other business.

Intel's is a sad tale. Their R&D is comparable to TSMC, AMD, and Nvidia combined (granted, TSMC benefits from a 1:2 Taiwanese exchange rate) yet they lag behind almost everywhere that matters.

Maybe they should realize that tossing money at something isn't the solution to every problem? Although this is likely not only diminishing returns but fundamental issues at the division level (such as wasting time on worthless products).

All those forays into the NAND segment and other ventures only to kill them two or three years later don't do them any good. They waste the money on R&D only to quit before they're able to reap the profits of those projects.

Let's hope for the sake of the market, and their own, that they don't consider their GPUs as worthless products.

It's also interesting how far behind TSMC they are despite spending all that money. It's like they're obsessed with full node upgrades while TSMC is happy doing half or even less of that jumps, inventing names along the way. It's like the first dual cores processors where Intel surpassed AMD because Intel went the cheap and practical route while AMD waited until they got a true cual core CPU, not two CPUs "glued together", only this time Intel is the one on the losing end.

The Arc GPUs are obviously just a test bed for Intel to eventually make GPGPUs that are competitive against Tesla and Instinct. I wouldn't put it past them to kill off the consumer-grade GPU products once they get what they want.

Nvidia stock up 14% in a day and gained $80 billion market cap in a single day. Good job guys.

Edit: For reference. Intel total market cap is $105 billion and AMD is $128.

I would argue nVidia's cap is over-estimated, but obviously investors have a ton of confidence in the milk machine.

More people are playing Sons of the Forest on Steam than Hogwarts Legacy
https://www.pcgamer.com/sons-of-the-forest-early-access-steam-launch/
Sons of the Forest didn't launch on Steam at 9 am Pacific today when it was supposed to, but about an hour later it became available to purchase so long as you didn't run into error messages. Whatever was clogging up Valve's store seems to have been cleared out now, as the early access survival game has hopped from the top of Steam's most-wishlisted list to the top of its bestsellers list, knocking Company of Heroes 3 into second place for the week.
Sons of the Forest has over 250,000 concurrent players on Steam on its launch day, making it the platform's third most-played game right now behind CS:GO and Dota 2, and ahead of Hogwarts Legacy. (It was below Hogwarts when this updated article was first published.) It's also currently the most-watched game on Twitch.
