Mod just straight up puts ULTRAKILL into Devil May Cry 5 and it works
https://www.pcgamer.com/mod-just-straight-up-puts-ultrakill-into-devil-may-cry-5-and-it-works/
Have you ever wondered what would happen if you made Nero and Dante and Vergil into something arguably-more-murderous? Well, one modder has wondered just that and then acted upon this thought: Behold, the robots of Ultrakill brought into Devil May Cry 5.
Ultrakill is a wild ride of a retro-shooter that has robots bathing in the blood of their enemies to heal, which in our Chris Livingston's opinion is "even more metal than DOOM." Devil May Cry 5 is a third person action brawler in an iconic series that we're all still a bit peeved we didn't get the proper special edition of on PC.
Made by modder sparkie1j, the Ultrakill Megapack series of mods wildly mashes one game into the other like a trendy 2010s t-shirt site, except with a modicum of taste and skill instead. It also has work by modders Haise, sugarflow, and jacksys.

Why be Spider-Man when you could be the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?
https://www.pcgamer.com/why-be-spider-man-when-you-could-be-the-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles/
Marvel's Spider-Man: Remastered has already given us some unexpected, funny mods. I figured that would end sooner rather than later as people got tired and moved on. I figured wrong. You can now be Raphael, Leonardo, Michelangelo, or Donatello in Marvel's Spider-Man.
That's right, kids: You can fight crime in New York as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Heroes in a half shell. Turtle power.
Modder SpaceDasher has given us this creation, replacing four of Spider-Man's outfits with skins of the four turtles. I'll suggest, as the modder clearly implies, that you go ahead and load these up for the levels that take place in subway tunnels and sewers.

Mass Effect mod adds a mineral stock market so you can trade instead of probing
https://www.pcgamer.com/mass-effect-mod-adds-a-mineral-stock-market-so-you-can-trade-instead-of-probing/
If you're not into the chill deep-space vibe of Mass Effect 2's resource-gathering minigame, where you launch probes at planets and watch your pile of iridium tick up, other options are available. The One Probe All Resources mod, like the name suggests, gives you every resource on a planet with a single probe. Or you could just Cheat Engine your way to a massive stockpile and never run out of element zero again. If neither of those seems satisfying to you, now there's another way to get around hearing the words "probe launched" about a hundred times.
Nos Astra Mineral Exchange is a mod for Mass Effect Legendary Edition by beccatoria and Team Pyjak that lets you trade resources and currency on a galactic stock market, buying and selling commodities instead of—or as well as—mining them. In addition to being a spaceship commander, hostage negotiator, and advertising spokesperson, now Shepard can be an investor as well.

Monday news, part two:

Stalker 2 studio denies further delays, despite Xbox pre-order refunds
https://www.pcgamer.com/stalker-2-studio-denies-further-delays-despite-xbox-pre-order-refunds/
GSC Game World, the developer of the upcoming Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, is one of the many studios that have been seriously affected by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and the ongoing war in the region. (...)
Now Xbox has begun refunding pre-orders for the game, as first reported by Polish site XGP, with a message accompanying the refunds saying that the game has been postponed until an "unconfirmed date in the future." The Xbox Store has also stopped taking pre-orders for the game entirely. This however is not an indication of anything wider than a Microsoft policy of refunding pre-orders for games without a firm release date: why it's happened now is puzzling, but that is the reason why.

MultiVersus removes the police from Velma's special move
https://www.pcgamer.com/multiversus-removes-the-police-from-velmas-special-move/
The MultiVersus patch that went live yesterday, taking the game to version 1.02, makes a number of big and small changes to the game, and one that's particularly interesting because it's so seemingly odd: Velma, the big brain of the Scooby Gang, will no longer call the police after solving a mystery.

Minecraft players will get to vote on the next mob to join the game yet again
https://www.pcgamer.com/minecraft-players-will-get-to-vote-on-the-next-mob-to-join-the-game-yet-again/
The yearly Minecraft mob vote is coming back again, and this time you'll be able to participate even if you miss the Minecraft Live show next month.
The mob vote has been an emotionally charged competition in past years. Mojang typically shows off three choices during Minecraft Live, highlighting each of the potential new mobs to be added to Minecraft—be they animals, enemies, or helper creatures—and then puts the vote to players on Twitter during the two-ish hour long show. Opinions get hot on social media and in the livestream chat as fans and content creators jockey for their favorites until the winner is announced at the end. Typically, the mob chosen in the yearly vote arrives to the game in the following year's major update.

If past releases are any indication, though, it's probably not coming until 2025.

After all these years someone made a proper tank simulator again
https://www.pcgamer.com/after-all-these-years-someone-made-a-proper-tank-simulator-again/
There are are plenty of games on the PC that let you drive a tank, but few of them these days aspire to simulator-level realism. They might have simulation elements, or use real life as a model, but ultimately most of the best games where you're driving a tank are either a decade old or ultimately beholden to multiplayer balance.
Gunner, HEAT, PC!, or GHPC, wants to change that. It's an indie by a new studio called Radian Simulations. Focused on the cold war era, GHPC uses the popular theoretical battleground of Germany as its kickoff point.
>> There's a trailer in the article, where you can see how true to reality the game is by having Soviet tanks turrets fly away.

Pincushion little raiders in a tower defense from the director of Hitman GO
https://www.pcgamer.com/pincushion-little-raiders-in-a-tower-defense-from-the-director-of-hitman-go/
Isle of Arrows is a neat, clean tower defense that hit Steam this week, and though it's styled minimally I had to resist the temptation to call it "little" because it's pretty beefy once you get stuck in. It's solo-developed by Daniel Lutz, who previously worked as creative director on Hitman and Lara Croft GO at Square Enix Montreal.

Keep that shotgun close, kids, because Quasimorphosis is an upcoming roguelike survival horror game that blends tactical gun combat with space station dungeon exploration. Finnish study claims our brains sync-up while gaming together
https://www.pcgamer.com/finnish-study-claims-our-brains-sync-up-while-gaming-together/
Researchers at the University of Helsinki have published a study that examines the brainwave synchronisation of people playing a simple driving game in pairs. The headline claim, of course, is that the results suggest peoples' brainwaves synchronise while playing a co-operative racing game. The participants' brains were activating in a similar way to how they would during face-to-face interaction, and "inter-brain neural synchronization has been linked with empathy and cooperation" in such situations.
>> You've heard it guys. If you want to get in synch with someone, play co-op games.

Speaking to GI.biz (opens in new tab), Guillemot repudiated reports that the company had made minimal progress in the wake of the harassment scandal, speaking in-depth about high-profile dismissals, new company structures, and why he didn't quit as CEO when it became clear how toxic Ubisoft's workplace had become.

Square Enix joins a blockchain, looks forward to 'harnessing user contributions'
https://www.pcgamer.com/square-enix-joins-a-blockchain-looks-forward-to-harnessing-user-contributions/
Square Enix has been one of the most bullish of the major publishers in announcing its intention to seriously invest in blockchain technology. (...)
Now, Square Enix is going to become part of a blockchain. It will be one of 21 'node validators' of the Oasys blockchain, which like all of them claims to be eco-friendly and not like all those other blockchains. A node validator is an entity that maintains a copy of a given blockchain, and has a role in verifying and keeping records of all its transactions. No word yet on what the Gallagher brothers think about the name.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Launches In October, RTX 4080 In November In 16 GB 340W & 12 GB 285W Flavors

https://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4090-launches-in-october-rtx-4080-in-november-in-16-gb-340w-12-gb-285w-flavors/

Jayztwocents and MLID continues to get shat on. I'd take the branding with a grain of salt however. While the 4090 is guaranteed, Nvidia could brand the 4080 16GB as 4080 and 4080 12GB as 4070 but who knows. Like I said in the past though, do not take the high tdps in the past as gospel because using common sense should indicate those were how much the GPUs were capable of getting under extreme situations such as under LN2 rather than stock. 340 watt for a 4080 is very reasonable for the performance uplift that it will get you. I am sure AIBs will crank it up much more though.

Intel Once Again Refutes All Arc Discrete GPU Cancellation Rumors, Getting Ready For Launch Soon!

https://wccftech.com/intel-once-again-refutes-all-arc-discrete-gpu-cancellation-rumors-getting-ready-for-launch/

Reasons why you never believe in anything that MLID says. That tards sources are his own imagination where time and again, he's been proven wrong. While Arc could eventually be killed off, I don't think Intel will stop trying anytime soon because the potential ROI by having a complete ecosystem is too high. Remember that Optane was never as successful as the usual SSDs in the consumer space but that came out in 2017 and only got cancelled recently.

Dear God, those 4090 are big. Really big. I wouldn't be surprised if they use more than three slots. I dread to think how much they'll weight as well.

And I don't understand why Gigabyte needs to make 11 cards. They're simply too many.

Also, can someone tell me what PRL means? Given that the tweet talks about Intel, I can deduce that MTL is Meteor Lake, RPL is Raptor Lake and ADL is Alder Lake, but I don't know the fourth one.

Supposedly, some people managed to read the Key Features info from the Zotac 4090 boxart:

Obviously the XXX parts are unreadable to them but the biggest disappointment is that Lovelace looks to be using DisplayPort 1.4a still if it's legit. That would be a huge bummer as new monitors and such in the coming years will be using Display Port 2.0. While 4k 240hz is entirely possible to do with DisplayPort 1.4a with DSC, we don't know if DP2.0 monitors will be backwards compatible with DP1.4 with DSC. But even if they are, DP2.0 may have some additional features that DP1.4a won't have so we will see.

Ain't that usually one of the most advertized features printed in big letters on the box?
Especially for GPUs with plenty of VRAM.
