NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB & RTX 4080 12 GB Rumored To Launch At The Same Time

https://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4080-16-gb-rtx-4080-12-gb-rumored-to-launch-at-the-same-time/

If true, I might settle for the 4080 16GB instead of the 4090 as the 16GB is supposed to also have 14848 cuda cores. But we will see.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 20 GB Graphics Cards Hit Used Chinese GPU Market For Under $600 US

https://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-20-gb-graphics-cards-hit-used-chinese-gpu-market-for-under-600-us/

A very long time ago, kopite leaked this GPU but it never really came out. Looks like it was infact legit if you had some deep contacts.. $600 wouldn't be too bad of a deal for that much Vram but you know that since its inception, it was running on mining rigs 24/7. So at that point, best to skip.

GPD Win 4 Specs Leaked; Here’s How It Compares To Steam Deck

While I like the form factor, the GPD Win Max 2 had a very loud fan and this will probably have even a louder one. And of course, returning one of these for a refund is a good luck moment. So while I like a lot of things about it, I might continue to skip.

Imo the one that everyone should be eyeing is that 5800X3D if it drops below $300 as far as gaming is concerned.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Ti “Full-Fat AD102” Graphics Card Pictured With Massive Triple Fan Cooler

https://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4090-ti-full-fat-ad102-graphics-card-pictured-massive-triple-fan-cooler/

Vega, is that you?

I said it before and I'll say it again: knowing the specs of the mid-cycle refresh cards before the original cards launch is depressing. Why would someone, in a regular, non-crypto booming market, buy a 4080 when it launches when, in 12-18 months you know that you'll get something more powerful, with more VRAM and, again, in a non-crypto hell situation, for the same or only slightly more money?

OIh, and yes, that card resembles the old Vega cards.

I don't think it's too big of a deal mainly cause we always had an idea of the refreshes of cards cause Nvidia always launches their expensive flagships. For example, when Nvidia used to do their titans, many people would wait for the xx80Ti variants because you could get Titan level performance for sometimes half the price. I think it's mainly about the cycle you are in. You buy a 4080 now, you are in the launch cycle where as if you buy a 4080 Ti, you are in the Ti cycle. Personally I like to be on the 80 cycle cause you always get that massive leap over last gen while getting the crucks of the technologies and you get the full cycle of the GPU gen... Where as the 80Ti versions are 20-30% faster than the 80 series but will get "outdated" sooner by the next gen.

But on the other hand, if you want to keep the GPU the longest, the 80Ti is usually the better choice cause it generally gets most amount of Vram and Cuda cores for that generation while being at a reasonable price pre-Turing. So it depends whether you upgrade every two or so years or if you want to keep it for a long time.

We didn't always knew about the refreshes. All these Ti or Super cards started with the 10x0 series and before that we could get the very high end Ti orsome rare entry in the mid-range card to tackle AMD. What's going on now is completely different and changes the playground because before, you "knew" that the card you were getting was the best Nvidia could do at the time for that money. But now, with all the Tis we know will come in the future, what we get is the second best option.

Now, I'm not saying that there shouldn't be Ti/Super or any of those refreshes, but you shoud start designing them after the launch of the new cards, not alongside them.

But well, since both the 12 and 16GB could launch at the same time for some kind of bizarre decision by Nvidia (unless the 12GB one is the 4070), all this is moot talk.

Lies of P on Steam has some weird system requirements:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1627720/Lies_Of_P/

"Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 6700 / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060"

Either it will be horribly optimized for AMD which would be a surprise since they demod it during their press event or they are just randomly throwing out GPUs as place holders.

It could be the ray tracing requirements- That's trhe only explanation I can think of.

Pretty much but maybe a bit less. GPD Win Max 2 that has more premium features costs around $999 USD starting so this might be like $899 if I had to guess.

https://www.dsogaming.com/news/unreal-engine-5-conifer-forest-is-a-new-impressive-tech-demo-that-you-can-download/
Last month, we shared an amazing tech demo for Unreal Engine 5 which showcased a highly detailed Broadleaf Forest. Created by MAWI United GmbH, that demo looked absolutely spectacular. And today, we are happy to present you with another tech demo from the same team.
Similarly to the Broadleaf Forest, the Conifer Forest Biome is a completely procedural generated forest of 1 sqkm you can freely run around in.

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

New playable version of the free Star Fox game, Star Fox: Event Horizon, available for download
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/new-version-of-the-star-fox-mod-for-everspace-2-star-fox-event-horizon-available-for-download/
UndyingNephalim has released a brand new build of the free Star Fox game, Star Fox: Event Horizon. In addition, the modder shared a new trailer, showing Estelle Ellis as Krystal (who will most likely be featured in a future version of this mod).
As its title implies, Star Fox: Event Horizon will let players control their favorite characters and fighter craft from the Star Fox series. This standalone free game uses the Everspace 2 Engine. And, to be honest, this is a pretty cool project. After all, Nintendo does not currently plan to bring the Star Fox series to the PC.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim gets a must-have Halo-themed Mod
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-gets-a-must-have-halo-themed-mod/
Modder ‘Araanim’ has released a must-have Halo-themed mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that all Halo fans must download. This mod adds a variety of weapons and armor inspired by the Spartan soldiers in the Halo franchise.
Going into more details, this Halo Mod adds two armor sets, the Orion and Mjölnir. The Orion armor is made by the Dwarves, and matches vanilla Dwarven items. On the other hand, the Mjölnir armor is made by the Empire, and matches the vanilla Steel armor. All armor pieces have heavy enchantments with significant ability buffs.
Furthermore, the mod features a number of auxiliary items using Dwemer mechanical components. Players can wear them over the armor and get extra buffs and enchantments.
Not only that, but there is a functional grappleshot (as a spell) similar to the one found in Halo Infinite. And yes, there is a whole suite of Halo-themed weapons, including a few crossbow variations that should look a little familiar.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake mod brings back the polygonal look
https://www.pcgamer.com/final-fantasy-7-remake-mod-brings-back-the-polygonal-look/
A previous mod for Final Fantasy 7 Remake swapped the high-resolution model of Cloud wearing a dress for a more low-poly look, but now the mod we've all been waiting for is here: one that replaces the expressive and high-resolution models of all Final Fantasy 7 Remake's playable characters for the pointy polygons of the 1990s. Specifically, of the 1998 Windows version, which you can tell because unlike in the 1997 PlayStation original they've got mouths. (A mystery our own intrepid Wes Fenlon delved into in Why the hell do they have mouths: a Final Fantasy 7 PC retrospective.)
