NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU rumored to boost over 2.8 GHz offering the same compute power as RTX 3090 Ti

https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4070-gpu-rumored-to-boost-over-2-8-ghz-offering-the-same-compute-power-as-rtx-3090-ti

Does the 40 series also have something like the infinity cache from AMD GPUs? Or will the larger L2 caches do the trick? Because the 4080 has less bandwidth than the 3080 (760GB/s for the 10GB version, 912GB/s for the 12GB version), that seems like it could bottleneck otherwise.

Afaik, it's rumoured to only have the larger L2 cache. A 4090 is supposed to have 72mb of L2 cache vs 6mb on 3090 and 4mb on 6900XT and then it goes down from there. I believe Infinity Cache from AMD is L3 vs L2 on Lovelace. So it will be interesting to see how it turns out as RDNA 3 is supposed to have up to 512mb of L3 cache which is lower bandwidth but obviously a lot more capacity than L2 from Lovelace.

Microsoft is bringing Minecraft Legends, Lies of P, and a whole bunch more to Gamescom
https://www.pcgamer.com/microsoft-is-bringing-minecraft-legends-lies-of-p-and-a-whole-bunch-more-to-gamescom/
Microsoft has announced its plans for the upcoming Gamescom 2022 show taking place later this month in Cologne, Germany. This year's event will be Microsoft's first in-person showing at Gamescom since 2019, but for the benefit of those who can't attend (which, let's be honest, is most of us) it will also offer a livestreamed presentation that will include interviews and gameplay from multiple studios and games.

Tower of Fantasy is a messy Genshin Impact with few ideas of its own
https://www.pcgamer.com/tower-of-fantasy-is-a-messy-genshin-impact-with-few-ideas-of-its-own/
The most charitable way I could describe Tower of Fantasy's relationship to Genshin Impact would be "inspired." It's so deeply inspired by Hoyoverse's anime character action game that it would be easy to shrug it off as one of the many mobile clones you see show up in ads trying to convince you they're where the real players are at. Its uncanny resemblance to Genshin is the hardest thing to get over in its opening hours, kind of like trying to get over how much Genshin felt like Breath of the Wild when it came out. But if you can grimace through it and restrain your cynicism, the MMO-like systems it introduces could be what sets it apart.

The internet won't stop roasting this new Forspoken trailer
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-internet-wont-stop-roasting-this-new-forspoken-trailer/
Forspoken, Square Enix's next big RPG, made a pretty positive impression on us when we checked it out in a December 2021 preview session. The tale of a tough young woman from New York City who falls through an interdimensional portal into the fantasy world of Athia promises a stylish blend of action, magic, and parkour in a dangerous open world, and while we didn't get to see everything, the bits we saw were "sick as hell." Alas, a trailer shared to Twitter yesterday has prompted a different sort of reaction.

The PC version of Madden 23 doesn't include its biggest new feature
https://www.pcgamer.com/madden-nfl-23-pc-version-fieldsense-last-gen/
The version of Madden NFL 23 you can pre-purchase on Steam is not the same Madden 23 you can get for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It's equivalent to the version being released for the last-gen PS4 and Xbox One consoles, which are nearly 10 years old. That means the PC version won't include Madden 23's headline feature, a "physics-informed" animation system called "FieldSense."

Seriously, EA?

I mean, even ultrabooks now start to have more powerful iGPUs/APUs than last gen consoles had. I really don't see the point of bringing the old version to PC by now

It's hard to understand, yes.

I mean, I could, somehow, understand why they don't include them in the first year of new consoles, because there's so much going on during that time that it's best to focus on as little platforms as possible. But after three years? And when you've finally announced that you'll do it with Fifa? No, it makes no sense at all.

And 2K isn't any better.

Intel reveals ARC A750 gaming performance in 48 DX12 & Vulkan games, up to 5% faster than RTX 3060

https://videocardz.com/newz/intel-reveals-arc-a750-gaming-performance-in-48-dx12-vulkan-games-up-to-5-faster-than-rtx-3060

If Intel is true to their word about pricing similar to their dx11 performance, most likely it will be priced like a 3050. Of course the driver issues are still a thing so it's hard to recommend it to anyone regardless. But I will say that I like the scarpyness of Intel. It reminds me of the old AMD where you got a GPU with the hardware that's well above it's price class because their dx11 drivers were hella shit. I suppose it's Rajas trademark in a way cause he never could figure out how to make drivers work properly but boy did you get hardware with great longevity in the budget segment unlike the shat tier 1630 and 6400s we have today.

With that being said though, it doesn't matter how good the hardware is if the driver will force you to reinstall Windows which is why I still prefer modern AMD overall to their Raja version. Just not in the budget segment.

Intel Placing Bets On OneAPI’s Multi-GPU Support For Arc Gaming & Arc Pro Graphics Cards

https://wccftech.com/intel-placing-bets-on-oneapi-multi-gpu-support-for-arc-gaming-arc-pro-graphics-cards/

Reminds me of when Raja went on stage, ran two RX 480s together in Crossfire and benchmarked AOTS claiming that two 480s > Nvidia 1080.

We know how that turned out...

Will AXG survive Gelsinger’s axe?

https://www.jonpeddie.com/editorials/will-axg-survive-gelsingers-axe/

"So, is the company’s dGPU group next? Started in 2016 the dGPU group snatched showboater Raja Koduri away from AMD with great fanfare in 2017— it looked like Intel was all in. And they were. The hiring continued unabated up till 2021 when they got their latest prize, Tom Petersen from Nvidia. Almost anyone who could spell GPU could get a job at Intel.

Since Q1’21 when Intel started reporting on its dGPU group, known as AXG or accelerated graphics, the company has lost a staggering $2.1 billion and has very little to show for it.

In fact, the company has actually invested more than that. We estimate the number is closer to $3.5 billion (or more, depending on how Intel chooses to account for those investments, and the setup costs at TSMC)."

Thank god I ain't holding Intel shares

Yea idk how Nvidia is able to get info from AMD before they even launch but Ampere stack against RDNA 2 was pretty solid so I suspect that they have something to go on this time around too. Now that we know Nvidia is also uping the clock speeds similar to AMD, I think we get to see a better picture of where the wattage requirements are coming from. 4090 with 16k cuda cores running at 2.8Ghz will be nuts. And that's before the Kingpin versions.

We will see though. If a 4080 can be 40-50% faster than 3080 while keeping the 320 watts and $700 price point, it should be a very killer GPU. Especially with Nvidia's lead in feature sets. And this time, Nvidia has much better Vram throughout the product stack instead of with Ampere were a 3060 had more Vram than 70 and 80 class loll.

Imagine, just imagine if...they were to make another 1080ti lightening in a bottle with the 4080...

ngl, I would die.

Personally I don't think the 4080 will be the 1080Ti equivalent. While I don't think any card will be that good when it's price to performance cause it really rekt Nvidia's Turing sales... There's just too much of a core deficit imo between a 4080 and a 4090. What made the 1080 Ti special is unlike AMD's "Hunting Titans" marketing scheme back then, 1080Ti really was the Titan killer. It beat the Titan X which was also Pascal based so Nvidia themselves released a Titan Xp just to keep the Titan name as the top dog in their own lineup. Hell it was so powerful that it gave AMD engineers nightmares as even two years after 1080Ti launched and AMD released their new flagship called Vega 7 to go up against Turing, the 1080Ti still stomped on it.

I think at best, the rumoured 4080 Ti with it's 14000 cuda cores and 20GB of Vram might be more so what the 1080 Ti was. If Crypto and such doesn't fuck things up again, hopefully it will be priced well enough and performs well enough to also be legendary. But I don't think we will ever see another GPU quite like the 1080 Ti from any company.

I'd say that the chances of Intel shuting down or selling its graphics division are low.

But it's been only a few days since Intel announced that they would scale back its plans to increase their manufacturing capabilities to please its investors after the bad results so, if they're willing to risk their future business, there's no reason to think they won't do the same with the graphics division if it doesn't become profitable in the short future and, given the state of their software, I have my doubts they'll be able to do that.

Oh I'm not expecting it to ever be, since 1080ti feels like lightning that struck once and likely won't strike again for a long time, but a man can dream.

We also have to note that Nvidia seems to have given up the goose when it comes to making and selling an abundance of Titan series cards, since the 90 series is apparently replacing that side of the market (and the prices feel somewhat similar to Titans).

I can totally see Nvidia getting greedy at the start of the new lineup with their prices though, assuming they refuse to learn an important lesson after these past 2 yrs.

Completely off-topic to this, but I just recently noticed the whole drama surrounding Bridget from GG, and I gotta say, that's not really a good move from Arc, considering how they've just mucked with an existing character and their entire lore, which just feels like it's been changed now in order to pander to a select group of the fighting community.

I've even seen some Trans folk suggest Arc create a new character that can be Trans, and tbh that's a way better idea than trying to make Bridget Trans (because when you really look into their backstory, it makes it super creepy how they've basically been groomed and forced to come out as Trans, which really doesn't paint that community in a good light, if ppl are gonna be "happy" they came out, only to ignore the fact that prev grooming was involved).

I don't play GG though, but I do feel sorry for the femboy crowd, since they've technically lost a favourite character, and tbh, there aren't that many Bridget types rolling around in the fighting genre as much.

Also twitter is an absolute mess with that character's recent news atm, I wouldn't tough that site's threads with a 10ft pole.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Yea I heard about that whole thing, turning Bridge into a trans instead of continuing to be a trap made me cringe very hard. If for nothing else, the memes were always pretty funny. But I am not too invested into GG in general so overall, I don't care too much about it. Pretty lame of them to go this route though.
