You worry me, guys. It's obvious you haven't played enough "find X differences between this two pics" games, otherwise you would pay more attention to details like that one.

I've seen this thread in my feed forever but never clicked on it... until now. I JUST realized that is said "Carzy" instead of "Crazy".

Wtf!?

wtf, I've always read it as Crazy.

Me too. It's been right there in front of our eyes for almost a decade. Just an accepted part of VGChartz and never realized.

Price of Final Fantasy 7 Remake removed from Epic Games stor -https://www.neogaf.com/threads/the-price-of-final-fantasy-7-is-now-removed-on-epic-games-store.1625887/

Epic/SE be like

They'll put the price up by the time of launch in a few days.

Either that or they promise some shitty coupon to get ppl to buy it. Either way, SE wants that money and they're gonna get it one way or another.

Gonna be hella interesting to see how much they charge for the year old port of KH collection, TWEWY and then Remake 7, as well as the likelihood of FF 16 going exclusive (par the course at this point).

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

I can see that happening. And they'll give away £10 off voucher a few weeks before launch lol. But yeah, not sure how they can SE justify charging this much for new games, other than outright greed. I can kinda understand Steam as they take 30%, same as other platforms though PC games in the past were always quite a bit lower, though nowadays the distinction between prices have been muddled the past few years.

And like with Epic money hats, and EGS already taking more of a hit; as they only take 12% cut.. you'd think SE would at least stick to current prices if not ever so slightly higher. 80 Euros/65 pounds is still too much no matter how you look at it.

I just think the whole situation with SE with exclusivity and releases is just garbage on PC. Think its just best stick to consoles for their Japanese games because they treat their PC customers like hot garbage.

I've worked in retail for years, and that's the sort of thing I could easily see being done.

Remove the price, let things simmer down a bit, bring the price back and give out a coupon, making customers think they're getting a deal, but really it's a markup, so not much if anything is lost, and the customer thinks they've won.

Retail is a psychological minefield man, games industry feels like a 1 to 1 copy of it, deals, markups and all.

Thing is, charging nearly £70 for the base game, Steam is still gonna take that 30%, and we know that because it's expensive, not many will buy it outright at first, so they won't be passing that threshold that Steam sets, where pubs can take more than 70%, meaning Valve still gets that 30% of whatever copies they sell, while SE gets to be a disappointed brat in the corner (no doubt letting the world know it's disappointed in sales expectations).

I really don't think things are going to go the way they want them to, at least I hope they don't, because I was literally just going on to you guys about how we're having to rely more on key sites for cheaper prices, and then SE comes out, wanting this shit to be the norm and I'm just:

It doesn't help that SE don't have a great track record with their PC ports, delays and now the triple exclusivity seal for one sodding part of one sodding game, like that just sounds bad no matter how much a fan may want to suggest that it isn't. We know this first part will cost you nearly £100, and we don't know how many other arts there will be, meaning VII remake could cost upwards of £200+, just for one complete remake of a single game, while Capcom only charged me £40ish for REmake 2 and less than £30 for REmake 3.

I just don't think one can suggest that one FF game is worth £200+, in the subjective or objective sense, that's just way over the top expensive for one remake, SE is definitely milking this for as far as they can go with it.

What I wanna know at this point in time, is why are all the pubs out there, in the past 5 years, fucking up so tremendously bad?. Like it's either greed or they hired Bobby kotick's (the types who don't give a shit about games/never played a game in their lives), because this is just getting beyond EA's lootbox levels of stupid.

We've got R* fucking up

SE fucking up

CDPR fucking up

Sony fucking up

MS fucking up a few times

Nintendo fucking up

T2 fucking up

2k Fucking up

Konami fucking up

Ubisoft fucking up

The list could really go on, but it shouldn't have to, because why is this even a thing lol?. I don't remember this many fuck ups since the PS3 era.

The way I see it is like these companies are like vampires, they get a taste of blood and its a feeding frenzy, no matter who or what is involved.

Sadly no one votes with their wallets and we accept new bs, seemingly every new generation. Whether it be new ways to segment games from on platform another. Release unfinished games, carrot-dangling content via DLC's or mtx's or find more/other nefarious ways of squeezing more money out of consumers. While other forms of media evolve, like film and music games just seem to be regressing in terms of how and what these companies offer. I mean we don't even get complete games out of the game most of the time.

Heck even Valve isn't out of the woods with them not caring for making games anymore other than support their GaaS games and selling hats on TF2 and skins in CS. I guess that's the state of the industry these days despite these companies getting record sales and revenue (largely in part to Covid). It kinda reminds me of the scummy things that Nvidia and AMD are doing in the GPU market, because they can get away with it.

Just finished a big boy repair to my rig. One of my 2070's fans was failing and making really annoying noises. Took the gpu out and grabbed the screwdriver. Removing the shroud and disconnecting the fan and led cables was surprisingly difficult and I ended up just cutting one of the plastic fasteners rather than have to disassemble the heatsink to get to it (thanks, Gigabyte...). Once that was finally off I wasn't sure which method was the proper one to oil these fans. Peeling stickers didn't reveal anything and trying to pop the problem fan off just ended up damaging it beyond repair (apparently I should have used the thumbtack method). So I was SOL for a month while some replacement fans shipped from overseas. I was running the card shroudless in the meantime but at least the noise was gone! The new fans arrived the other day so I went to work swapping them out and reversing the process. Getting the cables plugged back in was super cramped and tricky but I eventually got everything back how it was more or less supposed to be, remounted my gpu, and crossed my fingers. Fortunately the repair seems to be a success and my rig is once again cool and quiet (crazy what a difference some air flow can make to temps). Hopefully this hassle will prolong the life of my gpu until I presumably upgrade to a 4000 series card and this can go in a secondary rig.

Well done! I trief that with my hd 4800 and properly fucked it, which gave me a good reason to upgrade hehe

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Toyota thinks THEY own your car.

Not related to PC per say but it's quite insane none the less. The summary is that Toyota cars have this feature where you can remote start the car however it requires you to pay a subscription in order to use it. Now there are other car brands that require a subscription to use a remote start function but the key difference is that with other brands, you generally have to install an app onto your phone and it talks to their servers which then talks to your car and starts it up. With Toyota, the remote start only talks to your car. So the subscription service for this function makes no sense because companies like Honda have the very same function that is included with the purchase.

HDMI 2.1 standardization is a mess.  I been in a market for a new receiver lately and it even worse then figuring out what on a monitor

Let take something like the Onkyo tx-rz50

It have 3 40gbs HDMI 2.1 ports and 3 24gbs HDMI 2.1 ports.  48gbs at the moment do not exist in the receiver world.  If you look at the product listing, websites etc there is no indication that all 6 HDMI ports are not identical.  The only place you can tell is on a single page a couple hundred pages into the manual where it list what supported on each HDMI port.  It still don't list speed but you can guess by what feature set they allow.

Then you got Yamaha who low ends have 24gbs that originally did not even work right and required a board swap but there high end receivers A4A and higher have all 40gbs HDMI ports in theory but not enabled at moment because they not release a firmware update to enable hdmi 2.1 features that require that much bandwidth.  The date on that firmware update been delayed multiple times so who knows when it come out.

It not even completely the manufactures fault because 4 years after the spec release the HDMI Forum still not release Compliance Test specifications for all the features....

I ended up giving up and bought something that can take earc from tv and convert it to hdmi audio so I can run audio through my old receiver that don't have earc only regular arc which not good enough for my sound setup and run video directly into the TV 4 hdmi 2.1 ports that actually support everything including earc to send to converter.  I revisit receivers again in 2023.  That converter was also not cheap at $188 but rather spend that then deal with a 2k receiver that I don't even know will do everything I need.
