Digital Foundry || Nvidia Marbles RTX Hands-On: A Vision For The Future Of Ray Tracing?

  • uses a similar tessellation technique as Epic's Nanite, via open Subdiv to have high detail models
  • still no raytraced caustics in the transparent objects, uses screen-space data instead
  • denoiser breaks down when using the metallic marble
  • flame marble seems to use fluid simulation
  • disable physics simulation target framerate to enable higher frame rates, but the physics breaks down
  • 48fps is the built in cap
  • no Marbles At Night content that was demonstrated at Ampere reveal

[VideoCardz] MSI confirms GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 12GB and RTX 3070 Ti 8GB SUPRIM series

RTX 3090 24GB
RTX 3080 Ti 12GB
RTX 3080 10GB
RTX 3070 TI 8GB
RTX 3070 8GB
RTX 3060 TI 8GB
RTX 3060 12GB

The irony of Nvidia's Vram is that for the marbles demo... By default, it requires a GPU with a minimum of 11GB of Vram... That means that you have this funny situation where a 3060 is able to "run" it without going into the config files and adjusting things where as a 3080 "can't." Of course once you adjust the minimum vram, it runs much faster than 3060 and the demo is Nvidia cards only. But still...

Very impressive demo, but the VRAM limitation is quite ridiculous, to say the least.

AMD Navi 24 “Beige Goby” entry-level GPU to offer 1024 cores

1024 cores, so 16 CU. It's the same amount of CU as Baffin (RX 560), but probably at a higher clock rate and with the IPC improvements of RDNA over GCN 4.

That sounds like quite a good card for basic stuff - and competition for NVidias MX line of cards on Ultrathins. I expect a mobile version of this GPU to be at least at MX 450 level, and could even threaten the 1650(Ti) depending on the clock speeds.

There's a couple of games at Steam that will be free until tomorrow's refresh:

Those hidden Playstation games and DLCs are interesting. I wonder which games could be? I don't think they'll put their most famous games (Uncharted or God of War, for example), but that still leaves the door open for other games.

Also, good for them for not using Denuvo.

I think they are gonna port PS+ collection to pc and then move on to ps5 games after.

Yeah, itwould make sense to start (or continue?) with their small, digital only games to see how we react.

After that, I'm not sure if they're gonna jump to PS5 games right away because I doubt Sony wants to be compared to MSoft and recieve the same "if their games also launch on PC, then they're not trully exclusives" treatment. They'll wait a couple years or so to port them. That way they've already done their task to sell consoles, and whatever they'll do on PC will only mean more profits and maybe, just maybe, attract some PC players that "need" to play the games at launch to their console.

In any case, I would expect more PS4 games to make the jump first.
