Some additional tidbits from Jims Interview.

"What about PlayStation games on PC?"
"A whole slate of them is on the way starting with Days Gone this spring."

" Firstly, in terms of the straightforward success of the activity of publishing the game on PC, people liked it and they bought it. We also looked at it through the lens of what the PlayStation community thought about it. There was no massive adverse reaction to it." "The cost of making games goes up with each cycle, as the calibre of the IP has improved. Also, our ease of making it available to non-console owners has grown. So it’s a fairly straightforward decision"

https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/culture/article/playstation-vr-jim-ryan-interview-2021

Sounds like they are really committed to porting games to PC!

Great news! The more games that come, the better for us, gamers.

I have to say i'm surprised no one has made a thread about it yet, either someone from the SOny camp to bash Jim Ryan and this new strategy or someone from the MSoft camp to laugh at Sony and claiming that they're copying the strategy MSoft started a while ago.

A change of studio is never a good thing. Let's hope for the best but yeah, it doesn't bode well for the game.

Not unexpected. All they had to do is honor the original and improve on some of its flaws, but my guess is they decided mid development they want to appeal to mainstream and fucked up everything in the process...

It's published by Paradox, the king of DLCs. Maybe they wanted to change the game to make room for the dozen of DLCs their games have and the studio didn't know how to do it without launching a clearly unfinished game.

That ^

Also, I think it's not impossible that they realized that under 5th edition rules, much of what was Bloodlines would be impossible without breaking the new rules in major ways. 5th edition of V:TM is much more unforgiving and the increases in power much lower compared to previous editions, also the hunger is much, much greater than it was before.

Would they stick to the core rules, then Bloodlines 2 would be more akin to a survival horror game with a constant need to hide and feed.

That's not a bad theme for a game, to be honest, and, if done right, it could still sell a lot.

Speaking of Humble Monthly. I didn't actually had to buy Hollow Knight. I searched my keys and saw that I still had one from 2018. Thanks to Humble I won't ever have to buy any games that are older than 2 years.

You'd hope the port is better. This is Sony's chance to actually show that they care about port quality. If it turns out to be yet another "ait many months until broken AAA game is fixed" scenario, then it's only going to hurt Sony's image when it comes to quality, let alone entering another market (again).

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

Yea especially since they are clearly committed! Hopefully it doesn't take 10 patches for it to become half decent port this time around.

Don't know much about VTM 5e rules, never actually played P&P version, just read 2e...I think...it was long, long time ago. I liked the system, but never got around playing it - not likely I will be soon, as per usual, my current table is into fantasy (with me trying to hack apart DnD 5e is into classless "XP buys everything" like some folks did back with 3e with "Buy the Numbers" and "Complete Control"...that is, until I realise it's a fools errand (especially with such a weak system) and I finally throw them into something like GURPS Fantasy, RuneQuest or Harnmaster).

Red Dead Redemption 2’s PC player base is twice the size of its console version
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/red-dead-redemption-2-pc-player-base-console-version/
SuperData has shared its monthly report, stating that the PC player base of Red Dead Redemption 2 hit its highest level ever in January 2021. According to the company, RDR2’s PC player base was near twice the size of its console version.
SuperData states that in December, Rockstar began selling the game’s multiplayer component, Red Dead Online, as a standalone purchase. In December and January, PC sales of Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online totaled a combined 1.8M. This figure is far higher than the console version, which sits near 611K. Thus, the PC edition of the game benefited the most from the deal. SuperData speculates that some owners of the console version likely picked up the game on PC for cheap in order to take advantage of features like improved graphics.

The development of Dying Light 2 has been 'total chaos,' according to report
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-development-of-dying-light-2-has-been-total-chaos-according-to-report/
Dying Light 2 has had its share of struggles since it was announced almost three years ago at E3 2018. (...)
A new report on Techland published by TheGamer suggests that the project may be floundering largely due to problems at the studio, particularly regarding the "autocratic" management style of CEO Pawel Marchewka. Interviews with ten current and former employees allege problems including an over-reliance on external consultants who lack experience in the games industry (whose advice is often ignored anyway), conflict at the production level, a high rate of staff turnover, and micromanagement that some developers characterized as "the eye of Sauron," which has collectively had the effect of stripping the game of a "coherent vision."

Cross-progression and crossplay are in the works for Rainbow Six Siege
https://www.pcgamer.com/rainbow-six-siege-crossplay-cross-progression/
Back when Ubisoft switched from Uplay to its shiny new Ubisoft Connect client last year, the publisher promised that future games would feature cross-saving and cross-platform play as much as possible. At the time, that promise didn't include Rainbow Six Siege, which was disappointing for players who hoped to combine their operator and skin collections across every platform. Rejoice: It sounds like we're going to get our wish, eventually.
