PC Master race should be renamed to Waiting Master Race

Given that those Tesla cars feature Navi 23, a chip that AMD hasn't even revealed yet, we're more like the WTF Race right now.

People are also paying for those prices so they can get away with it. Tbh there should be a law in place to stop retailers from fixing and overcharging customers. Its bad enough that AiB's are doing it.

Now its like a double whammy and thats not even considering the miners are sweeping up said cards :/ I just think the FE cards were a scam to begin with. Nvidia weren't going to sell a lot of those cards and were never going to stick with MSRP with board partners.

There are already laws that regulate the market, but they're often quite lax because only "comminist" countries control the market too much and control how business operate.

Remember what they say, "the market regulates itself" .

I've gone back and forth, but at this point I think I may skip and just build a whole new rig when the next gen comes around. Hopefully next time it won't be such a shitshow.

I hope both you and hinch keep in mind that next time you upgrade, probably to Alder Lake (the Intel CPUs that will come late this year or the next one) or Zen4, you'll face the transition to DDR5 and, if history repeats itself, that will cause lots of RAM shortages and ridiculously expensive memory kits.

Sadly, things won't really much better the next time.

All I am really waiting for is the cpu but apparently, it's taking forever to come from the US. With some luck, it will come next week and even that's a maybe. Urghh this waiting!

Just when you think it's gonna arrive at your doorstep

DSOGaming Giveaway – Win a free copy of Hitman 3
https://www.dsogaming.com/editorial/dsogaming-giveaway-win-a-free-copy-of-hitman-3/
January is almost over so it’s time for our monthly giveaway. This month, we’re giving away a free copy of Hitman 3. Hitman 3 is an optimized PC game (as we wrote in our PC Performance Analysis), and a worthy conclusion to the Hitman trilogy.
As with our previous contests, you can participate in this giveaway by simply leaving a ‘Thank You’ comment below. We will delete both duplicate and off-topic comments. We will also delete comments from all the accounts that were created for this or previous giveaways (Disqus provides information on when you signed up).
Moreover, your account must have at least 60 comments. We’ve implemented this rule so that we can prevent all the accounts that some users have created solely for giveaways. Comments from accounts that have less than 60 total comments (or have comments only on giveaways) will be deleted. If you are new, you can start engaging with all other users in the Comment section and then participate in future giveaways.
The winner will be picked randomly via Random.org and comments will be counted from oldest to newest. This giveaway contest will end on Sunday, January 31st at 22:00GMT.

Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition is free on the Epic Store
https://www.pcgamer.com/dandara-trials-of-fear-edition-is-free-on-the-epic-store/
A fresh Thursday delivers unto us a fresh new free game on the Epic Store, although to be fair this one isn't quite "new" in the strictest sense. It's Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition, "a prickly 2D Metroidvania with a curious twist" that was originally released in 2018.
>> And next week the free game will be "For The King".

Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator is free-to-keep on Steam for a limited time
https://www.pcgamer.com/ultimate-epic-battle-simulator-is-free-to-keep-on-steam-for-a-limited-time/
Back when Fallout 4 released there were tonnes of YouTube videos showing what would happen if, for example, 1,000 Synths faced off against 50 Super Mutant Behemoths. Answering these kinds of questions is extraordinarily important, and it's why we game on PC. It didn't take long for a game to release that was all about pitting hordes of AI against one another: Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator.
It's basically a sandbox game about creating preposterous skirmishes. There's a huge spread of different units to choose from, everything from actual Medieval soldiers through to chickens (anyone who has played a Zelda game knows that chickens hit hard). It didn't review particularly well at launch, but if that persuaded you not to try the game, you might as well give it a go now: it's currently free on Steam.
>> The deal will last until Monday.

Almost 750 million free games were claimed on the Epic Games Store last year
https://www.pcgamer.com/almost-750-million-free-games-were-claimed-on-the-epic-games-store-last-year/
Whatever your feelings on the Epic Games Store, one thing's for certain—a whole lotta people grabbed the platform's weekly freebies over the past 12 months. At least, according to Epic's fancy 2020 year-in-review infographic.
Posted earlier today, Epic's recollection flaunts some staggering numbers regarding the platform's past year. Headlining the showcase is news that over 160 million people bought something from the Epic Games Store last year (up from 108 million in 2019), spending over $700 million altogether.
But the Epic Games Store is probably best known for its free giveaways, and boy, did people take advantage of those. More than 103 free games were given away in 2020, an amount that would've cost about $2,407 to buy at full-price. Over the year, those freebies were claimed just over 749 million times.

Friday news, part two:

Sonic seems to be getting a new voice actor after 10 years, but who should play him next?
https://www.pcgamer.com/sonic-seems-to-be-getting-a-new-voice-actor-after-10-years-but-who-should-play-him/
Ah, Sonic. The world's fastest hedgehog. The speed demon. The blue blur. For decades he's been going fast, and for one of those decades he was played by voice acting veteran Roger Craig Smith. You might also know him as Ezio from the Assassin's Creed games, Resident Evil's Chris Redfield, or Oliver from Hannah Montana: Spotlight World Tour. Okay maybe not that one.
But it seems Craig Smith's long relationship with Sonic the Hedgehog is over, based on this tweet posted by the actor today, which resulted in a huge outpouring of sadness from some corners of the Sonic fanbase. He doesn't actually say he's dropping the role, or give any details about why, but it's fairly obvious he's talking about Sonic here, right?

https://www.pcgamer.com/glitchpunk-is-a-top-down-action-game-that-looks-a-neon-version-of-grand-theft-auto-2/
On the surface, Cyberpunk 2077 looked very much like a new Grand Theft Auto game, but set in a neon-hued cyberpunk future. Glitchpunk, announced today by Dark Lord and publisher Daedalic Entertainment, is very similar, except that it looks like an old Grand Theft Auto game set in a neon-hued cyberpunk future.

Ninja Theory's 4v4 hero brawler Bleeding Edge will get no further content updates
https://www.pcgamer.com/ninja-theorys-4v4-hero-brawler-bleeding-edge-will-get-no-further-content-updates/
Ninja Theory's 4v4 brawler Bleeding Edge released in March last year to mostly ambivalent reviews. At launch, Morgan wrote that its "characters are cool, but the combat is too shallow to hold attention for long." Despite a handful of content updates between then and now, including a cool dolphin-powered mech, the game hasn't managed to reach the kind of audience required for a successful live service game.
And that was confirmed today, with the announcement that active development will cease on Bleeding Edge. The game will still be playable—it's available on Xbox Game Pass for PC still, and you can buy it—but don't expect new characters and maps going forward.

Rocket League is getting an NFL mode with ball carrying and out-of-bounds rules
https://www.pcgamer.com/rocket-league-is-getting-an-nfl-mode-with-ball-carrying-and-out-of-bounds-rules/
As part of a partnership with the NFL for Super Bowl LV, Rocket League is finally getting the other kind of football: the oblong American one that's for throwing, not kicking. (But also for kicking.)

Fortnite is getting a Gangnam Style emote because I guess it's 2012 again
https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnite-gangnam-style/
If time means nothing in the current state of the world, I guess that can apply for infamous K-pop songs that are almost a decade old. Yup, Gangnam Style, the ludicrously popular hit from Psy, is going to be a new emote in Fortnite.

Destiny 2 is scrapping weekly bounties and ramping up recoil

Old School Runescape is coming to Steam next month

Gather your friends and get ready to spam chat in Lumbridge, adventurers. Free throwback MMORPG Old School Runescape is making its way to Steam next month.
Mere months after Runescape's younger, contemporary edition made its way to Valve's shores, Jagex this week announced that it would be bringing the nostalgic 2007-era client to Steam on February 24th as part of the game's 20th anniversary.

And now let's see what GOG and Steam have for the weekend:

Now this could be a solid nothing burger but since both MS and Tencent are looking to make more high profile purchases with gaming companies, it could be a first indication of something.

125w RTX 3070 Laptop Outperforms 90w 3080 Laptop in Games

This isn't a surprise as it happened with 2000 series laptops as well. The biggest problem with this generation of laptops is that Nvidia is no longer enforcing the Max Q moniker so people will have to double check the actual TDP of the laptop before purchasing this time around.
