I will always praise Nvidia for taking bold leaps and developing new techniques, even if they are rough and tough to implement and sometimes just look wonky. It's the pioneering spirit we need to move forward. And now that AMD seems to have caught up we'll get even more of it.

I'm apparently 430th in queue for an rtx3070, so it looks like I may not get one for a month or so, possibly longer.

Good luck! I hope you have it before X-mas so you can try it with some Steam bargains you got during the Winter Sale.

Not sure why you worry at all. It's not like it's too hard to make your cards RT capable. Just slap on a few dedicated cores and you're done. There is zero chance that AMD won't go down the same path because RT is the future and is here to stay. In 10 years we will have to explain to young gamers how there ever were cards without hardware RT acceleration. Nvidia was extremely early with their implementation and some might argue this new generation is still too early, considering the massive performance hits. So AMD just focused on rasterizing, which is still way more important, especially when you have to catch up.

There is no chance that their next generation will not have acceptable RT performance.

O.o viv defending AMD's graphic cards? Am I dreaming? There must be some explanation for such behavior... maybe the full moon has an effect on you, viv.

Jokes aside, I agree that there's no place for such unfounded fears.

Please excuse my bad English.

How am I defending AMD? If Nvidia didn't start with RT AMD would still be in the middle ages trying to do rasterize 3D models. I'm saying not even AMD is stupid enough to not follow the glorious market leader.

You responded to Chazore dismissing his fears regarding AMD and their implementation and future support of RT and, while doing so, you indirectly defended AMD.

Buit don't worry, I'm not going to hold that against you .

I passed so many possible 3080/3090 opportunities these past weeks(thanks for the link btw, jizz), because none of them were the model I'm looking for. Seems like Strix 3080s are a myth.

It is just not a regular full moon. It is once in a while "blue" moon.

Shadow of Tomb Raider RDNA 2 Ray Tracing Leaks out for 6800. Faster than 3070 at both 1440p/4k.

https://wccftech.com/amd-radeon-rx-6800-rdna-2-graphics-card-ray-tracing-dxr-benchmarks-leak-out/

Now obviously we should take it with a grain of salt but I think it's time to stop underestimating RDNA 2 until the reviews coming out. I once said AMD needed to make multi-generational leaps to catch up with Nvidia and this time around, they really did. Lisa Sue and David Wang are making magic happen with RDNA 2 and we finally have some competition back! There's still Drivers to worry about and those that care, DLSS competitor but everything we have seen so far shows that for the first time Since the 200 series, AMD is back!

It's a great time to be a PC gamer!

It's not that I have fears lol XD, it's that I'm just tired of them playing catch up, and being so hesitant about telling us what's really up with their latest line, what they are doing is something they're not afraid to tell us, but what they aren't is something they keep withholding, and that's what irks me.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

I don't think this is the best game for Ray Tracing benchmarking though is it? AFAIK it's only a light implementation of raytracing. Even the 1660 TI with no Ray Tracing hardware can handle medium ray tracing on this game at 1080p above 60fps.

So I don't think this is a good indication of Ray Tracing performance.

Would be more interested to see a game that uses global illumination rather than just shadows like TR.

Yea that's true. Especially early Ray Tracing games had a lot of kinks to work out as well when it came to optimization. My point was to wait for reviews before passing judgment either ways.
