Here's KFA2 for the 3080:

*another pic*

It's like if you took the Founders Edition and got rid of all the elegance and engineering...

God Damn! That motherf*cker is ugly as hell. What were they thinking?

And, on top of that (pun intended), that extra fan will severily limit the compatibility of that case with CPU coolers and RAM sticks. They're shooting themselves in the foot.

So you're like haxxiy and think that AMD could potentially beat Nvidia's Ampere in pure rasterization but lose in RT and the like. We'll see.

In any case, in order to present some battle, AMD needs to be competitive in both performance and also price. The 5700 series were very competitive against Nvidia cards but, given that they were priced very close, Nvidia still managed to sell more units because of brand name.

Yeah, they got sued for Bulldozer and had to pay 12 million dollars: https://www.anandtech.com/show/14804/amd-settlement

More along those lines, yes. I'd be highly surprised if Big Navi comes close to Ampere's higher tier RT capabilities.

That's something I've also worried about. The 5700 wasn't exactly cheap, without RT, and if Big Navi is supposed to be AMD going for the performance crown, then should people really expect them to undercut Ampere by much if at all? That's why I suggested 3080Ti and 3070Ti levels of performance in general, for 3080 and 3070 pricing. The Navi 3080Ti level card for example, may only give you, say, 3060/3070 level RT perhaps, but that may be enough for AMD to gain some market share, considering it'll be their first RT cards. It wouldn't lead to them crushing Ampere or anything like that though, but it would be considered quite competitive overall. Assuming their drivers are also much improved, which it seems they're improving more recently, and is rumored to be part of the reason AMD is taking some extra time before unveiling and releasing Big Navi, to make sure the drivers are worthy by launch.

Hmm. 12 mil? That's it? Even if Nvidia got sued for Ampere and had to pay 10's of millions, it would just be pocket change in comparison to profits, so how much would they really care at that point?

I think AMD priced their Navi cards a bit higher because they invested heavily into 7nm and that added extra costs that now shouldn't  be as high as before. Also, since it was the first time in a while that the could compete with Nvidia's xx70 part, they maybe used the opportunity to charge a bit more than they usually would.

Big Navi will be expensive, there's no doubt about it, but with the 3070 being $500 and the 3080 $700, its price should be closer to the former than the later... unless they've managed to deliver what they promised and the card can trade blows with the 3080, in which case something like $650 could be worth it given the added extra VRAM.

In any case, I'm out of the top tier cards and I'm more interested in their true mainstream parts, the 3060 and the 6600 cards. I hope they don't cost more than $300.

Looks like Red Team is getting ready to show off Big Navi. Hype!!!

Let's hope it's soon!

Didn't AMD said that the cards would launch before the consoles?

Personally I don't like buying expensive things from Ebay due to the warranty situation.

For example with phones, you can buy a new Samsung phone in Canada for like $1,599.99 for 128 GB model. You can buy the exact same model on ebay, just with 256GB for $1,300.96.

The kicker comes when you have to deal with warranty situation as the phone originated from a different country. So if something happens regardless of whether or not it's a manufacturing defect, Samsung won't honour the warranty. (Well unless it explodes lul)

LG has been known to replace burn in problems with their OLED TVs even when the TVs are out of warranty. It doesn't mean you may be that lucky but I'd think about the warranty situation with OLED TVs just in case something happens. Specially if it's gonna be plugged into my PC.

https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED/comments/f2vq3z/lg_is_doing_a_one_time_free_panel_replacement_for/

I guess different countries have different laws in regards to warranty.

Whatever you buy from any store here has to provide warranty, Ebay is no exception in this regard, surprising Canada doesn't follow in our footsteps in this aspect.

--::{PC Gaming Master Race}::--

I don't really expect burn in. If it happens it happens. And the sooner it happens, the sooner I can buy a better TV.

It's gonna be here next week. I'm already trying to get used to some new settings on my PC to reduce future burn in. Hiding your task bar isn't too bad actually. Now I just need to find a way to hide scrollbars in my browser and to hide the GUI on top and I'll be fine for burn in for years.

But what about FPS counters? Don't you want to check performance with a new GPU?

The whole purpose of an OLED is to burn in  a "120" on the top left corner to impress friends and family.

My TV is being processed and is ready to be shipped. Maybe it's gonna be here even before Wednesday.

Yea like we have some protection laws but not as good as other countries. Generally as long as you buy products that are the Canadian version from an authorized retailer, you will get the standard protection. If you don't, it depends on the company.

Fuser, the DJ rhythm game from Harmonix, is coming in November
https://www.pcgamer.com/fuser-the-dj-rhythm-game-from-harmonix-is-coming-in-november/
Fuser has been slated to come out sometime this fall, and today Harmonix, whose previous releases include the hit music games Guitar Hero and Rock Band, nailed that down to November 10. That's getting a little late in the "fall," but it still technically qualifies: Winter this year starts on December 21.

The Steam versions of Doom and Doom 2 have just been updated
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-steam-versions-of-doom-and-doom-2-have-just-been-updated/
A while back Bethesda took the Unity ports of Doom and Doom 2 made for consoles and added them to the Bethesda launcher, making the 90s shooters run at 60fps with widescreen support and an add-ons menu via which you could download things like John Romero's Sigil in-game. As of today, the Steam versions of both games have also been updated.

Skullgirls studio head lays off everyone who hadn't already quit
https://www.pcgamer.com/skullgirls-studio-head-lays-off-everyone-who-hadnt-already-quit/
Multiple employees of Skullgirls and Indivisible studio Lab Zero resigned recently, after allegations about studio head Mike Zaimont's history of sexual comments and inappropriate behavior, directed both at staff and members of the fighting game community, came to light. As of last week, Zaimont has laid off all remaining staff, as animator Jonathan Kim explained on Twitter, noting that Zaimont "hasn't agreed to a severance for them yet."

Apex Legends' armor nerf has been reverted
https://www.pcgamer.com/apex-legends-armor-nerf-has-been-reverted/
As part of Apex Legends' season 6, the way armor worked was changed: all armor became Evo Armor, and its protective value was dropped by 25 hit points. This resulted in a reduced time-to-kill that proved controversial with players, given that Apex's relatively long shootouts, at least by battle royale standards, are part of its appeal. Now, armor values are going back to the way they were, though the all-Evo change will remain in effect.

Spectacle shooter Ultrakill is available in Early Access right now
https://www.pcgamer.com/spectacle-shooter-ultrakill-is-available-in-early-access-right-now/

It's the work of Arsi "Hakita" Patala, brought to us by noted purveyor of 1990s aesthetics New Blood Interactive, and it's just arrived in Early Access.
