MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS
You can now play as Resident Evil 3 Remake’s Jill Valentine in Resident Evil 2 Remake
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/play-as-resident-evil-3-remake-jill-valentine-in-resident-evil-2-remake/
ZombieAli has released a pretty cool mod for Resident Evil 2 Remake. As the title suggests, this mod allows you to play as Jill Valentine from the latest RE game, Resident Evil 3 Remake.
The modder has used alphaOmegaZ’s new tool for making RE3/REsistance models usable in RE2 with physics. What this means is that we can expect similar 3D model swap mods for other Resident Evil Resistance characters. So, it’s only a matter of time until we see mods for January Van Sant and Valerie Harmon.
Now as with most character swap mods, this Jill Valentine mod for Resident Evil 2 Remake has some minor issues. For instance, holstered weapons aren’t in the correct place. Moreover, the facial animations aren’t perfect in cut-scenes as the game is still using Claire’s animations.
>> You'll find it at Nexus Mods.

Modder recreates Halo Infinite in Halo 5 Forge, looking almost as good as Xbox Series X
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/modder-recreates-halo-infinite-in-halo-5-forge-looking-almost-as-good-as-xbox-series-x/
Blttserz has recreated a part of the Halo: Infinite map in Halo 5 Forge. The modder has spent 48 hours into building this map, and the end result is incredible. In fact, this map looks almost as good as what Microsoft showcased during its Xbox Series X event.
What’s also really cool here is that you can download and play this map yourselves. All you have to do is search for user “Blttserz” in Halo 5 Forge and browse his files, or search for the “arrival” map. Now I’m not certain whether this is exclusive to the Xbox version of Halo 5 Forge or not.
The arcade version of Quake is finally playable on PC
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-arcade-version-of-quake-is-finally-playable-on-pc/
In 1998 a company called Lazer-Tron released Quake Arcade Tournament, a full-sized upright cabinet version of id's shooter that apparently came with a a 27" 640x480 VGA display, a trackball for mouselook, and seven buttons for directional movement, shooting, jumping, and cycling through weapons.
As this blog about Quake Arcade describes, "It ran on a custom PC known as the Quantum3D Quicksilver Arcade PC. While that may sound impressive, this was 1998 and in reality it was only a 266 MHz Pentium II running under Windows 95!!"
A limited number of Quake Arcade Tournament cabinets were made, and while a copy of the software has been available online for years, the emulator MAME wasn't able to run it. The arcade cabinet came with copy protection in the form of a dongle that needed to be plugged-in for it to run, copy protection that finally defeated this year by GitHub user mills5, who uploaded a decrypted executable.
A massive Fallout: New Vegas mod overhauling the game's voice work has released
https://www.pcgamer.com/a-massive-fallout-new-vegas-mod-overhauling-the-games-voice-work-has-released/
The Brave New World project has finally released its first version adding new professional voice acting to over a hundred NPCs in Fallout: New Vegas. Over the years, one of the few criticisms voiced by fans of Fallout: New Vegas was that single voice actors were forced to do the acting for a large number of characters. While there are truly standout examples among the cast of New Vegas, it's hard for even the best actor to convey 15 different characters in dramatically different styles.
Brave New World is a project that fixes that while leaving the best old performances entirely intact. "If the characters had excellent acting, i.e. Caesar, Doc Mitchell, Legate Lanius or were iconic characters, we chose to leave them alone," said the creators of the mod. "Our main focus was to mitigate 'cloning', and to improve upon acting, pacing, and casting." The mod also comes with a visual remaster of the NPCs it revoices to reinforce their character and match the newly cast voice actors' work. There's also a list of mod recommendations to go with it.

Here's a first look at Beyond Skyrim's Black Marsh
https://www.pcgamer.com/heres-a-first-look-at-beyond-skyrims-black-marsh/
Beyond Skyrim is a collaborative project that brings together several teams of modders, each working to add a different part of Tamriel to The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. We've seen impressive work being done by the Morrowind team, Bruma is already available in pre-release, and the Roscrea zone is also in progress. One location that seemed to be a long way off was Black Marsh, the swampy home of the Argonian lizardfolk, which is still described as being "in the concept stage" in the Beyond Skyrim FAQ.
Now we've got a first look at Black Marsh thanks to the developer diary above, and it seems to be coming along quicker than expected. There's a lot of nice jungle landscape, some Imperial plantations and Argonian settlements, and a variety of new creatures including grazing reptiles with big, goofy yellow eyes and floating swamp jellies. They note they're "experimenting with custom rigs and animations" to differentiate the creatures of Black Marsh from those of Skyrim, and show a lightning-blooded lizard called a wamasu looking pretty cool.
