MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

You can now play as Resident Evil 3 Remake’s Jill Valentine in Resident Evil 2 Remake
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/play-as-resident-evil-3-remake-jill-valentine-in-resident-evil-2-remake/
ZombieAli has released a pretty cool mod for Resident Evil 2 Remake. As the title suggests, this mod allows you to play as Jill Valentine from the latest RE game, Resident Evil 3 Remake.
The modder has used alphaOmegaZ’s new tool for making RE3/REsistance models usable in RE2 with physics. What this means is that we can expect similar 3D model swap mods for other Resident Evil Resistance characters. So, it’s only a matter of time until we see mods for January Van Sant and Valerie Harmon.
Now as with most character swap mods, this Jill Valentine mod for Resident Evil 2 Remake has some minor issues. For instance, holstered weapons aren’t in the correct place. Moreover, the facial animations aren’t perfect in cut-scenes as the game is still using Claire’s animations.
>> You'll find it at Nexus Mods.

Here are 15 minutes of gameplay footage from the Morrowind Remake mod for Skyrim, Skywind
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/here-are-15-minutes-of-gameplay-footage-from-the-morrowind-remake-mod-for-skyrim-skywind/
The team behind the ambitious Morrowind Remake mod for Skyrim, Skywind, has released a new gameplay video for it. This video shows off 15 minutes of gameplay footage, and gives us an idea of Skywind’s current status.

Modder recreates Halo Infinite in Halo 5 Forge, looking almost as good as Xbox Series X
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/modder-recreates-halo-infinite-in-halo-5-forge-looking-almost-as-good-as-xbox-series-x/
Blttserz has recreated a part of the Halo: Infinite map in Halo 5 Forge. The modder has spent 48 hours into building this map, and the end result is incredible. In fact, this map looks almost as good as what Microsoft showcased during its Xbox Series X event.
What’s also really cool here is that you can download and play this map yourselves. All you have to do is search for user “Blttserz” in Halo 5 Forge and browse his files, or search for the “arrival” map. Now I’m not certain whether this is exclusive to the Xbox version of Halo 5 Forge or not.

The arcade version of Quake is finally playable on PC
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-arcade-version-of-quake-is-finally-playable-on-pc/
In 1998 a company called Lazer-Tron released Quake Arcade Tournament, a full-sized upright cabinet version of id's shooter that apparently came with a a 27" 640x480 VGA display, a trackball for mouselook, and seven buttons for directional movement, shooting, jumping, and cycling through weapons.
As this blog about Quake Arcade describes, "It ran on a custom PC known as the Quantum3D Quicksilver Arcade PC. While that may sound impressive, this was 1998 and in reality it was only a 266 MHz Pentium II running under Windows 95!!"
A limited number of Quake Arcade Tournament cabinets were made, and while a copy of the software has been available online for years, the emulator MAME wasn't able to run it. The arcade cabinet came with copy protection in the form of a dongle that needed to be plugged-in for it to run, copy protection that finally defeated this year by GitHub user mills5, who uploaded a decrypted executable.

A massive Fallout: New Vegas mod overhauling the game's voice work has released
https://www.pcgamer.com/a-massive-fallout-new-vegas-mod-overhauling-the-games-voice-work-has-released/
The Brave New World project has finally released its first version adding new professional voice acting to over a hundred NPCs in Fallout: New Vegas. Over the years, one of the few criticisms voiced by fans of Fallout: New Vegas was that single voice actors were forced to do the acting for a large number of characters. While there are truly standout examples among the cast of New Vegas, it's hard for even the best actor to convey 15 different characters in dramatically different styles.
Brave New World is a project that fixes that while leaving the best old performances entirely intact. "If the characters had excellent acting, i.e. Caesar, Doc Mitchell, Legate Lanius or were iconic characters, we chose to leave them alone," said the creators of the mod. "Our main focus was to mitigate 'cloning', and to improve upon acting, pacing, and casting." The mod also comes with a visual remaster of the NPCs it revoices to reinforce their character and match the newly cast voice actors' work. There's also a list of mod recommendations to go with it.
>> Available at Nexus Mods.

Here's a first look at Beyond Skyrim's Black Marsh
https://www.pcgamer.com/heres-a-first-look-at-beyond-skyrims-black-marsh/
Beyond Skyrim is a collaborative project that brings together several teams of modders, each working to add a different part of Tamriel to The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. We've seen impressive work being done by the Morrowind team, Bruma is already available in pre-release, and the Roscrea zone is also in progress. One location that seemed to be a long way off was Black Marsh, the swampy home of the Argonian lizardfolk, which is still described as being "in the concept stage" in the Beyond Skyrim FAQ.
Now we've got a first look at Black Marsh thanks to the developer diary above, and it seems to be coming along quicker than expected. There's a lot of nice jungle landscape, some Imperial plantations and Argonian settlements, and a variety of new creatures including grazing reptiles with big, goofy yellow eyes and floating swamp jellies. They note they're "experimenting with custom rigs and animations" to differentiate the creatures of Black Marsh from those of Skyrim, and show a lightning-blooded lizard called a wamasu looking pretty cool.

Earlier this week we said that a Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War ARG was teasing an upcoming reveal for the next game in the series, leaked long ago as Black Ops – Cold War, that was set to happen today. But with the big day here, it appears that what we're really getting, sorry to say, is more ARG.

Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord mods have been around since the game first released on Early Access back in—wait did Bannerlord seriously only release four months ago? It feels like it's been forever. Holy hell that feels surreal for some reason. Anyway, mods. So, yeah, players have been hacking and modding Bannerlord for a long time now, but I'm predicting that scene is going to explode with cool stuff pretty soon because its official mod tools are just weeks away.

Joker, the clown prince of crime, Batman's archnemesis, and the subject of many a Hot Topic shirt will be available this November. He's joined by Poison Ivy, the similarly popular Batman villain who's had a recent revival as the better half to Harley Quinn in both the comics and the Harley Quinn animated series.

Factorio's new spider robot has mesmerizing telescoping legs
https://www.pcgamer.com/factorios-new-spider-robot-has-mesmerizing-telescoping-legs/
Factorio launched out of early access with a thunderous 1.0 patch yesterday, bringing four years of development on one of the most impressive games there is to a close. As a treat, the developers added a giant mechanical spider robot for endgame players to build and control, and it is beautifully animated. The Spidertron seems to dynamically use its eight legs to traverse obstacles and step over gaps—gaps like bodies of water. Skip to the bottom of the post if you do not like spiders, because there's a mod for that.

Rainbow Six Siege’s next update is going bananas with new features

What if I told you that, somehow, Sam Fisher’s debut on the Rainbow Six Siege roster wasn’t the most exciting change coming in Operation Shadow Legacy? Don’t get me wrong, he’s great, but this update is packed with small features and quality-of-life changes that will drastically change how the game is played.

Spelunky 2 is now on Steam with an updated release window
https://www.pcgamer.com/spelunky-2-is-now-on-steam-with-an-updated-release-window/
Perhaps the most hotly anticipated platformer release of the year, the Spelunky 2 Steam page is now up. The new roguelike platformer is to release on PS4 on September 15, but the PC release date has remained rather nebulous, with a simple statement that it would be 'shortly after'. Well, that information is now ever-so-slightly less nebulous: Developer Derek Yu says they're aiming to get Spelunky 2 out the door "no later than a few weeks" after the PS4 release. That's probably something like early to mid October.

Mixolumia is a ridiculously addictive new block puzzler
https://www.pcgamer.com/mixolumia-is-a-ridiculously-addictive-new-block-puzzler/
I will always love block-clearing puzzle games. No matter how advanced videogames get, the pure, simple joy of slotting little coloured blocks together, and watching them fizzle away satisfyingly, will always tickle a very specific part of my brain. It's the reason I keep an original Game Boy with Tetris on my desk, why I fondly reminisce about the many happy hours I spent playing Lumines on the PSP, and why I've fallen hard for Mixolumia.

Whelp this holiday is looking bad for my wallet. New consoles, CPU's, GPU's and now drop in prices for SSD's.

And IBM thats not a name I've heard in a while...

Also Microsoft is going to have Xbox Series X's AMD Architecture Deep Dive at Hot Chips 2020 today at 6:30PM or 7 PM PST. It could give some insight into RDNA 2 and AMD's next gen APUs.

They have already gave out some slides on what to expect from the presentation.

https://www.tomshardware.com/news/microsoft-xbox-series-x-architecture-deep-dive

" That GPU section is, not surprisingly, massive. The full chip is 360.4mm square, with 15.3 billion transistors. Doing some quick image analysis, the GPU takes up roughly half of the die (47.5% if you want a more precise estimate)."

"A Zen 2 CPU chiplet measures 74mm square (with four times the L3 cache compared to the Xbox Series X APU), and then tack on a GPU that has more features and shader cores than Navi 10 (RX 5700 XT), which measures 251mm square. That's 325mm square without the enhanced Navi 2x cores and 12 additional CUs."

"While the chip size of the Xbox Series X is in line with previous console hardware (375mm square for the Xbox One in 2013, 367mm square for the Xbox One X in 2017), and transistor counts have more than doubled relative to the Xbox One X (6.6 billion to 15.4 billion), the die cost is higher. Microsoft doesn't specify how much higher, but lists "$" as the cost on the Xbox One and Xbox One S, "$+" for the Xbox One X, and "$++" for the Xbox Series X. As we've noted elsewhere, while TSMC's 7nm lithography is proving potent, the cost per wafer is substantially higher than at 12nm."

Got some confirmation regarding Direct ML:

Some info regarding ray tracing:

Some info about the GPU

Some info about the hardware:

There's a lot more slides that goes more in-depth. I think next gen AMD gpus might also be expensive and I am starting to think that DF's rumour about the consoles costing $600 might be a reality...

Congrats on both games.

I've checked a bit at DSOG, because PCGamer is too prudish and doesn't talk about this kind of mods, but I couldn't find the one you're looking for.

There's a topless Claire Redfield, a fully naked Claire Redfield, a nude Ada Wong one and a nude Leon Kennedy (gays and women can have fun too), but no nude Jill Valentine mod has been published, although that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.

By the way, remember that DSOG doesn't put the links to nude mods, so if you've clicked the links above hoping to find them... well, bad luck.
