Update: AMD Ryzen 9 4950X / 5950X 16C/32T Zen 3 Vermeer's boost clock may touch the 5 GHz mark; AMD could skip 4000 series naming for desktop

The new leak/rumor says that it can reach up to 4.9GHz https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-16-core-zen3-ryzen-9-4950x-engineering-sample-boosts-up-to-4-9-ghz

Maybe AMD will manage to make it reach 5GHz by launch.

That's some really high clockspeed, but I remember reading something about zen2 not fully reaching it advertised clockspeed so we shall see. I'm expecting 17.5% ipc gain for zen3, maybe higher ipc for gaming with its single ccx. This should be enough to beat the 10000 series in most games I think.

What I find even more impressive is that the base clock went up compared to the previous leaked chip by 200 Mhz. 16c/32t at 3.7 Ghz base is already 200Mhz higher than on the 3950X, and those are still just ES, so that clock speed might go even higher

By now I'm expecting 3.9/5.1 Ghz for the 4950X, obliterating any Comet lake and Rocket lake in it's path.

So Sega considering day one launch for games on PC, after the success of P4 on Steam -

Day one on most, if not al all Sega games going forward is gonna be great news for us!

Also Remedy working on a new game in the AW/Control Universe

Return of Alan Wake? Or wishful thinking. I'm hoping for more AW. Tempted to play Control for DLC even though the game didn't quite 'click' for me.

Yeah, the Zen2 chips couldn't reach the advertised max clocks most of the time. AMD launched several patches to fix that, but I don't know if they succeeded or not.

I think you're too ambitious. They may try to push a bit more for the "magic" 5.0GHz mark, I'd be really surprised if they can go beyond that. At least on the 16-cores part. It could be easier in the 8-core parts if they want to give them an extra bit of power.

PC has become a very important source of income for Sega in the last years, to the point where I wouldn't be surprised if they launch more games on PC than consoles.

Pushing that support a notch to launch the console/PC games at the same time would be great, as long as they don't rely too much on Denuvo and other things like that.

I'd love Alan Wake 2, but I don't think we'll ever see it because, no matter what they do, they'll never live up to the expectation they created with that ending.

Besides, they have a tendency to leave their stories open. They did it with Alan Wake, Quatum Break and now Control. It's one of their annoying treats (and the reason why I gave up and decided against getting Control).
