While I don't know for sure, it absolutely was.

This part cracks me up:

“Actually from the top we knew we were developing the game for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.  And we started the process of optimization right at the start. So that’s probably what you see running the demo is a PC with like an i7 and 1080TI, so it’s not astronomical specs."

Yes, they are astronomical specs - compared to Xbox One - that's some 8x, which is generational leap.

And sadly, that which they played with PC parts wise isn't going to show for it at all, besides a res difference and maybe the odd shadows/rendering objects, but definitely nothing that makes it a night and day difference.

Agreed. They are astronomical. AMD doesn't even have a GPU that's as fast as the Geforce 1080Ti... And they have had a year and a half.
But... It should come down lower, they are still optimizing... Or it could end up being the next Crysis.

I would peg the 1080Ti at more than an 8x increase... A DDR3 Radeon 7770 isn't setting records. Hahaha

Most likely, since I was fairly conservative - I couldn't find direct 108Ti vs 7770 comparison, so I extrapolated from 1080ti vs 7850 and 7850 vs 7770 on Anandtech - it's more likely to be around 10x, or even more.

If this helps you both, TechPowerUp's database has the mobile version of the 7770, with GDDR5 and the 1080Ti. And if the 7770M is 100%, the 1080Ti is 1192%...

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-hd-7770m.c1204

The desktop version, also with GDDR5 and a 1,000 MHz GPU clock, would reduce that to "only" 785%: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-hd-7770-ghz-edition.c308

Do note that this mod requires Brumbek’s SMIM – Static Mesh Improvement Mod as well as LucidAP’s high poly project. The modder also recommends using Gamwich’s Rustic Clothing mod.
Going into slightly more details, this texture pack adds new textures and cubemaps for Goat, Highlandcow, Farmhouse, Markarth, Riften, Solitude, Tents, Whiterun, Windhelm, Winterhold and more.

Halfquake Trilogy, three Half-Life modifications with 15 hours of gameplay, available for free on Steam
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/halfquake-trilogy-three-half-life-modifications-with-15-hours-of-gameplay-available-for-free-on-steam/
Philipp Lehner has released Halfquake Trilogy on Steam. This combilation of the three Halfquake modifications for Half-Life is available for free to everyone, and comes with roughly 15 hours of gameplay.
As its creator noted, in Halfquake your purpose is to get killed in the most ridiculous ways for the sole purpose of entertaining your spectators. You might get weapons to fight your way through, but you will never be able to escape. Or at least not until you memorise the entire levels and their traps.

This Stardew Valley mod helps you manage the pesky museum and library
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-stardew-valley-mod-helps-you-manage-the-pesky-museum-and-library/
I think we can all agree* that the town museum-cum-library is the worst part of Stardew Valley to interact with. You have to donate a new object to rearrange it. You have to save room in your inventory for the junky books you find, maybe even throw out something you desperately need—obnoxious when the books are spawned randomly. There’s a mod that fixes these problems: The very pragmatically named Archaeology House Content Management Helper.

Be that through settlements and crafting, visual improvements and weather, or new locations and adventures there's pretty much something for everyone. With 510 lines of dialogue and four sing-a-longs, Kilosandwich's Echo transforms the Boston Commonwealth into musical about employment. I've no idea which category that best fits.

The Cargo Ship Update has brought a big, noisy boat to the shores of Rust, and it's filled with useful loot and heavily-armed scientists who'd really rather you kept your hands off of it.
The ship, the CCSC Lazarus, will appear as a "periodic server event" that occurs every 2-to-4 in-game days. It will approach the island to a distance of about 200 meters, at which point you can ride out to it on a boat of your own and climb aboard via one of the ladders hanging down its side. At that point, you'll have to clear the defenders, hack two locked crates, and defend the ship while you're waiting for them to pop.

Space crash management sim RimWorld releases October 17th
https://www.pcgamer.com/space-crash-management-sim-rimworld-releases-october-17th/
After five and a half years, Ludeon Studios will finally release the 1.0 version of RimWorld on October 17th. Originally scheduled for much earlier this year, version 1.0 saw delays based on what the developer called “the 90/10 principle, where the first 90% of development takes 90% of the time, and the final 10% takes another 90% of the time.” The developer has not committed to further updates for the game other than supporting fan translations and a bug-fixing patch. However, the announcement post does say that they can think of “a variety of interesting directions to go with the game.”

Warcraft 3’s Mal’Ganis the dreadlord could be Heroes of the Storm’s next character
https://www.pcgamer.com/warcraft-3s-malganis-the-dreadlord-could-be-heroes-of-the-storms-next-character/
After a few days of tweeting cryptic gifs, the Heroes of the Storm Twitter account has put out an image of a full-on Warcraft Nathrezim Dreadlord. Yesterday, it tweeted a gif a lot like some people getting destroyed by the dreadlord ability Carrion Swarm, and today, voila: a full body shot of a bat-winged corruption demon. It’s about time for the game to get a new character, so we’re expecting that this big demon is it, and it seems like the demon may well be Mal’Ganis. An exciting prospect if you’ve played Warcraft 3, since Mal’Ganis is so pivotal to that game’s plot.

Arena RTS The Maestros is all about mutating your troops to victory
https://www.pcgamer.com/arena-rts-the-maestros-is-all-about-mutating-your-troops-to-victory/
An interesting-looking new strategy game popped up on Steam in the last few days: The Maestros. It’s an RTS that focuses on using a single hero and a handful of troops to get victory in an arena map with other players and NPCs. It’s currently in a promising Early Access state, and feels like a match of Warcraft 3 where you didn’t have to build a base and you’re painfully limited on what troops you can get before the real fighting actually begins.

Two of us got to play Fallout 76 at an event held by Bethesda in West Virginia last week, and we've got the footage to prove it! Unfortunately it wasn't the PC version of the game, it was a build on Xbox One, but we still got a few hours of playtime with Bethesda's online Fallout game. It began with us creating a character, leaving Vault 76, and exploring The Forest, one of the six different regions of Fallout 76. You can see 30 minutes of captured footage from our session above.

Fallout 76 has Red Dead-style treasure maps
https://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-76-has-red-dead-style-treasure-maps/
There are dozens of treasure maps hidden in Fallout 76 which bear an uncanny resemblance to the ones found in Red Dead Redemption. Each map depicts some crudely drawn scenery complete with an all-important X, and that's basically it. You have to rely on your eyes and memory to find the treasure, so spelunking in the Appalachian frontier is just as fun as it was in the Wild West.

Well, I don't really need a 17-minute-video to realize that the RTX series is overpriced and the performance gains aren't worth the price increase (in games that don't or can't take advantage of the new features... so over 99.9% of my games).

But have no problem to skip this GPU gen, since all games so far are running good on my system and I don't see that changing before the first PS5/Xbox2/PC multiplatform games arrive. And when the new consoles arrive, prices for PC graphic cards will probably also go down decisively due to the added competition.

PC gaming ain't in a bubble. Indirect competition (PS5/Xbox2) will have lesser impact than direct competition (Radeon graphic cards and hopefully Intel graphic cards), but they will have some impact on the prices.
