I think it was said the controller cable is twice as long as the PS3 one. Of course, that's still not long enough, but it's an improvement and it might actually change before the console is shipped.

Because of the length of that cable they sell more controllers.

Are they using the same mini usb connector?

You'll be able to charge them while the console is off, though. Thank God for that.

well, that doesn't help me with my problem. especially when you play with 3 or 4 people a night of fifa or so and have 3 or 4 controllers it's not always given that all controllers have enough energy left.

it's not a huge problem but can be still annoying in those situations.

No matter how long Sony made the cable, there would always be someone who feels it's too short for his setup. That's why it's so great that Sony is using standard components like standard USB cables - you can simply walk into the next electronics shop and buy a replacement that fits your needs!

You can buy 10 foot Micro USB cables for very little money. There will also be compatible USB chargers and very likely official controller chargers like before.

I'd like four USB ports on the thing too, but alas...
