the point of this article wasnt to troll vita, just to show how biased IGN can be at times. I personal like the vita. i was abored the hype train before it was released, i also plan on getting it.. well after the price drops lol

As has been pointed out, this article was posted after several crucial and obvious details were already known.

1) The 3DS had received a 10,000 Yen and $/€80 price cut.
2) Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land were set for a holiday release.
3) Nintendo had secured Monster Hunter exclusivity.

You're forgetting Vita had a call of duty and AC on the way, and obviously back then we didn't know the former was gonna be horse shit and the latter just OK.

COD actually managed to sell a million units with 33 on metacritic(i.e. all the bad press in the world)... imagine if it was actually good and tied into the PS3 version? It would of sold at least 2 million and it would of been a system seller.

Resistance also turned out to be terrible, and though it'd never be as impactful as COD it could of trebled the existing figure and sold some systems if it was good.

A lot expected a GTA as well, and if COD and AC were more successful there'd be a higher chance of seeing it.

It still wouldn't of outsold 3DS, but it'd be far from doomed and therefore "succeeding".

What went wrong?

He was just one of those guys who got caught up in the hype base around the hardware.

That article is a good one, the real competition for vita is tablets and Phones in terms of Power/users where 3DS is old formula of their first party games so this won't have any new innovative games from future except milking Nintendo IP's and this doesn't has hardware power to be future proof. From next year Vita gonna shine with its hardware with the games of Sony first party Studios(since they are busy now with PS4 launch for first year) and being a handy companion of PS4.

You are delusional.

Sony first party studio aren't even trying on Vita and their games don't sell.

Vita won't shine with no big exclusive games. Vita games aren't "innovative games from the future". They are concept, indie game, because no one else want to develop for it bigger games.

Was there something deleted from this post?  Because from what I see, I don't think there's anything there that you can get banned for.  I've seen people say worse about Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft (much worse) without any penalty.

Oh, joy. Petty "I told you so lolol" time. Wonder if the same posters who are pleased with this will be so accepting of the retaliatory threads about the Wii U? I imagine not.

There's a difference between an user's thread on some random forum and an article by a "professional" journalist in one of the biggest (if not the biggest) gaming site on the web. The reason this article has been used so much is because of that, it comes from the biggest gaming site on the web, and many Sony fans used it to "prove" that the Vita was going to be successful.

As far as I know there hasn't been any "Wii U is set to succeed" in any non-Nintendo website, on the contrary in fact.
