Although I am not familiar with the services and these kind of 'side' services probably wouldn't interest me I do think it's rather soon or the wrong time to stop everything besides your store and browser. (right?)
There are 100 million wii's out there and they are still selling 5 million units a year. Now that we've had the Xboxone debacle, this could turn out bad publicity for Nintendo.

It tells buyers Nintendo will not support their consoles for very long, which makes it less attractive to buy the concessor. Certainly when it is already having a hard time.

Or this could be a nonissue for all but the most dedicated of Wii users who have no access to television, smartphones, laptops or who can't stick their head out of a window. If no one bothered to report this, then no one would have even bothered to find out the News, Weatheandg  other cool-once-but-quickly-forgotten channels stopped working.

i use the weather, ninty and news channel sporadically. So someone would have found out eventually, i think its better that NInty just tell us upfront, but these are services most dont care about. Hell I disliked the Miis and anything having to do with it

It doesn't sound silly at all. There is no comment about the game servers being shut down. It won't be long before those are next.

Just want to make sure you realize these aren't game servers being shut down. These are channels on the Wii that allowed you to do certain things like vote on polls, news, weather, Mii contests, etc. Once again these aren't game servers shutting down. Netflix, Hulu+, Wii Shop Channel, game servers, and few other channels (think of apps instead of channels if this confuses you) will still operate. Got it? Good
