There are some opinions not worthy of respect due to bigotry, ignorance, stupidity or a combination of all of these.

You mean like your posts?

OT: This is great news! I live in WA state so personally we've been enjoying marriage equality for a while now :)

Please tell me how my post was anything other than brutal honesty about a certain cult in America. I'd love to hear a defense of such a position.

And your ignorant ass comment displayed all three (bigotry, ignorance and a tremendous amount of stupidity). Grow up!

Same challenge to you as poster above.

Just because you think it is honest, doesn't mean that you're not coming off as ignorant and bigoted yourself. You use crude generalizations to stereotype an entire group into your agenda whenever their views disagree with your beliefs, which is no different than what you preceive certain religious groups to be doing; you can't fight bigotry with bigotry, or ignorance with ignorance.

Name one thing I said that was dishonest. Good luck.

I got three things.

Almost half of America is comprised of delusional, indoctrinated fools who subscribe to idealogies of bronze age Jerusalem.

This same number believe the Earth is less than 10,000 years old.

Logic does not work with these people.

Yay for not providing any data with your bigotry!

I never said you were being dishonest. I said you're coming off as ignorant and bigoted by emphasising the same behavior as those you claim to be bigoted. Just because someone is religious and conforms to their religious identity, doesn't mean that you can go off insulting their belief. It's clearly obvious when the first poster you quoted didn't even say anything bad and he actually said it's "cool for people who believe in it". That's not being ignorant or delusional; your response to him was, and your continued attitude is also.

I think you need to read more carefully next time. My response to him was his own signature quote followed by "the irony..."

The OT section was not directed to him in particular. That's why I bothered to use it.

"PRINCETON, NJ -- Forty-six percent of Americans believe in the creationist view that God created humans in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years. "

That would confirm my other assertions.

And I'm talking about the OT section which was completely unnecessary and added nothing but hatred to a topic that is supposed to be about celebration for this historical moment. The irony behind this is that people of religion on this topic are happy and/or fine with this movement, yet we have you, who (I presume is) an atheist who is spewing hatred and insults.

Like another poster said, grow up, and please learn to accept views other than your own without insulting others.

A gallup poll is enough for you? I don't see how creationism equates  to being delusional, indoctrinated fools who ascribe to the ideologies of bronze age jerusalem. I also assume you're throwing Judaism (and I suspect Islam) into this label as well.

Nor do I see how a singular belief (especially one based in faith) makes someone unable to comprehend logic.

Would you take such a comment as "Self loathing atheists who have the inane idea that this universe just magically happened by chance because they do not have the mental capacity to see the forest through the trees" as an ignorant comment? I'm sure you would.

P.S Before anyone gets offended, this comment was an example of how people of religious belief percieve comments like "dsgrue3" made.

" Rebellion Against Tyrants Is Obedience To God"

I think it's sad that "marriage equality" seems to only apply to homosexuals. What about a man who wants more than one wife, or a woman who wants more than one husband? Why are they denied the same privileges, if most of us seem to be in agreement that homosexuals ought to be lawfully allowed to marry?

Shouldn't "marriage equality" apply to all groups, and not just one or two groups? It seems very narrow, for people who claim to be so open-minded.

I might also add that I don't see how we've gotten to a point in the United States where we look to Washington, D.C. to answer all of our problems. Why do they need to validate everything for us? Why is marriage an issue of federal jurisdiction in the first place? People ought to marry whoever or whomever they choose in their home or in their church, and it's not the federal governments business whatsoever.

I say leave it entirely to the states, or leave it entirely to individuals to do what they choose. I'm very concerned that so many people are over-looking the dangerous road we've taken in this country. We seem to have this insatiable desire to have distant politicians decide things for us, and it's the exactly the opposite of how things ought to be.
