Forums - Gaming - The Xbox One Vs. PS4 Headset War Begins

its extremely hypocritical how xbox fans act about something that Microsoft doesnt do that sony or other companies do. in the last few years you could see tons of xbox fans claiming exclusives dont matter anymore, why? because microsoft was barely making any. now that microsoft has announced a lot of exclusives they suddenly matter so much again, and its so damn important, then when the sony gaikai thing happened you could see tons of xbox fans bashing it, microsoft announce the cloud for xbox one, then cloud computing is the best thing to ever grace gaming, they arent the same thing, but they are very similar. motion controls was just a gimmick with the Wii, but with kinect its innovation (PS eye doesnt exist) and the kinect thing is the best thing that ever happened with gaming controls.

for years i heard people complaining that the PS3 doesnt come with a headset, were the complaints valid? yes. but now that sony gives out a headset for FREE and microsoft doesnt it isnt an issue? it isnt an issue that microsoft even restricts what headphones you may and may use. its outstanding the amount of hypocrisy people speak.

I know you can't use previously purchased Turtle Beaches without an adapter. It's fine with me because my turtle beaches are connected to my PC and I'm not switching back and forth so I'll buy another pair for the Xbox One. If people don't want to drop a lot of money then they can purchase the Xbox One official headset. I can't imagine it being more than $15. I know that is more money on top of the already $499 price tag but that is what you pay when you want consoles at release. If people are bargain shopping then they shouldn't purchase either console for a couple years because at launch with games, PSN+, etc PS4 will be well over $600 and Xbox One will be well over $700. These consoles aren't consumer friendly right now.

@bananaking21
It's about the same amount of hypocrisy coming from the Sony camp.

Also the PS4 controller uses a 3.5 mm jack whereas the XBOne uses a proprietary one. Turtle beach has already confirmed that all headsets made for the PS3 will work for the PS4 whereas they had to create all new headsets for the XBOne.

So in short, future XBOne owners who enjoy their expensive headsets on their 360 or PS3 will have to go out and buy a new expensive headset while I can still use my Pulse Elite headset on the PS4 :)

To be completely fair: many sony owners said "you shouldn't have to pay for online". There's some backlash for that, but mostly everyone is okay  with paying for playstation plus for online multiplayer games. I guess it's okay if the competing companies do it too?

It's not really the same amount, because sony isn't changing much. But there were people who protected the xbox one's drm policies and everything that came with it. Microsoft does a 180 and those same people still somehow defend the 180 and figured that features they loved so much, originally, turned out to not be important after all.

i am one of those guys. honestly im still on the fence about PS+, on one hand i feel that i shouldnt be forced to pay to play online. but on the other i feel PS+ is VERY valueble. i without a doubt believe that everything you get from PS+ is soooo much more worth the 50 bucks a year. i also stated that if MS added dedicated servers for EVERY game then xbox live starts to get worth the money. ultimatly on the 360, you didnt get anything other than the ability to pay online on the 360 for getting a gold subscribtion, thats not the case on PS+, they arent holding back access to netflix, hulu and that stuff, they arent holding back cross game chat to make it seem like they are giving you value for the subscribtion like xbox live. they are giving you value for your money. im not defending sony, i still beleve that without dedicated servers you should pay to play online, but if you did, it wont feel like a scam, thats my point.

well, the one they had with the 360 did last only few weeks and then you had to buy a new one lol. doesn't really make a difference. if you want to use a headset buy a good one and if not, don't use one.

I know companies do it to make money off their console , but I really don't like the fact that I'm already paying for internet access- I don't need another fee on top of that to use it on a console I spent a couple hundred bucks on and a game I invested 60 bucks into.  I'm sure sony looked at Microsoft's plan and saw how much money they were missing out on. I do like PS plus though and the fact that they aren't making you pay for free to play games.

Unrelated: Also, I know that supposedly every multiplayer game is gonna have dedicated servers on xbox one (a feature I want to see on ps4 at least for big games), but come on- you're telling me that Activision can't get their own dedicated servers for COD? I'm not asking for much, but the biggest triple A titles can afford their own dedicated servers-I shouldn't have to help them pay for it.
