We all have our allegiances.. Hopefully due to the games we enjoy.  Rarely does an event like E3 cause me to change positions.  Only if a game, technology, or policy change catches me by surprise; can my loyalty be shaken.  Speaking for yourself personally... What happened this year to make you CHANGE your purchasing plans in the coming console war?  

First off, I'm a Nintendo diehard.  Always will be.  Microsoft has been good to me too.  I like how advanced MS is, from the og Xbox to kinect.  Ms always proves they are the wizkids.  But Ms doesn't have the exclusives I care about anymore.  Halo is awesome, but it's not 2001 anymore so it doesn't stand out like it used too.  It's all about multi platform titles now, which brings me to Sony.  They really don't have any exclusives I care about.  None of Sony's 1st party or exclusives have EVER charmed me at all.  I have nothing negative to say about Sony, their games just don't do anything for me.  

Enough background.  I was pretty upset with MS, going into e3, I don't have to explain reasons.  Nothing they showed interested me either..... Except.... Mother fucking KILLER INSTINCT.  WHYMICROSOFTWHY.  That single game is all it took to convince me to buy Xbox one.  Damnit.

Then Sony came on.  I was like okay, good price.. Destiny.. Tes online.. Stick it to drm.. Alright! Where do I sign up?  I was riding a wave.  I went from hating on ps4 to considering how I could defend ps+.  Then afterwards I realized, destiny is on pc... Tes is on pc... My hype ended.

Nintendo didn't impress me much but there is support from ubisoft, warnerbros, activision, sega, platinum, monolith.  Those are all the 3rd party I care about.  Im already a happy owner of a WiiU and 3Ds so there was nothing that could change.  Plus virtual console and BC. I'm set.

No, not really. Already have a Wii U and 3DS, and adore them both. My plan after E3 was to pick up a PS4 after a price cut to fill in some of the third-party gaps (my PC isn't really up to snuff). With this recent about-face from Microsoft, I may now pick up an Xbox One, granted the price drops about $200 and the exclusives look good. The best games from the Microsoft event (which, I admit, was the best of the three) are mostly available on other platforms: Titanfall, Metal Gear Solid V, etc. I think I can wait a few years for Halo, Dead Rising 3, and Killer Instinct.

I feel like a combination of Wii U/PS4 will cover most bases. I'll get the best first-party software from Nintendo and many of the best third-party games on PS4.

I was always getting a PS4, no matter what. Even had they had all the same DRM Xbox one had, but I hadnt ruled out getting an XBox also until after E3

That's the same way my cousin describes himself. He went out and spent that 600 for the PS3. Dude loves his Sony. Don't blame him - they've been good to him in all respects when you consider the Walkman, camers, phones, TVs, MP3 players and of course the Playstation line.

Well I think its down to nostalgia for me, as a year or so after PSone was out I got my first job. My first paycheque I bought my own PSone, it was mine, I earned it and paid for it and they had always been good to me (though I didnt get a 7th generation console till late, even then is was a PS3 just as the slim came out).

I should have clarified in my first post though, the reason I went from 'I might get an XBox one' too 'not touching that with a barge pole!' wasnt because of anything Microsoft did, it was because of what Sony did. I really was expecting Sony to follow suite with MS and have some kind of DRM, though not quite as severe, something. I honestly thought after Microsoft went ahead with it, Sony would almost have been backed into a corner and forced too or lose 3rd party support.

It wasnt until Sony came out and said no on all accounts, and also the PS4 would be cheaper I reached the conclusion that there was no good reason to get an XBox.

Well said ... I find it makes little sense to get both, to be honest. They're very similar and third party exclusives have run their course, unlike the beginning of last gen (seemingly at the time), so it is down to exclusives. I prefer Sony's exclusives a LOT more. I only dig Halo and Gears on X. With the PS4 being more powerful, cheaper and easier to dev for that makes it even more so. I'll get the X much later in the cycle when it is cheap.
