Forums - Microsoft - The Xbox One Just Got Way Worse, And It's Our Fault

The Gizmodo guy forgot, that with the restrictions the X1 would only work on selected countries. How can that make it any better is beyond me.

Yer lets compare WOW to a console

WOW is not time bound as you can play it on any PC.

xbox one physical games are tied to that consoles. Once the gen ends so do your games.

That was confirmed false by Major Nelson.

Actually it wasn't. Mjr. Nelson only dodges the issue by saying "This gen hasn't even begun, so why are we talking about this?" and saying "This isn't how we do things".

We had no true clear cut idea of how they are going to do things, which in itself was a big part of the issue for people.

What? Didn't he say absolutely? One of us is thinking of something else and who'd blame us with the PR mess lately!

Okay then, why would he on one hand say "absolutely not" and on the other say "this gen hasn't even started so why are we discussing this?"

Seems he wasn't even entirely sure on how things would work. Just like each time DRM was brought up he looked visably annoyed and either changed the subject or made snarky remarks to the interviewer like "Are you a lawyer?", "Are you on the dev team?", etc...

With Angry Joe he asked Maj. Nelson: "Why not just get rid of the 24 hour DRM? It shouldn't be that hard." and Maj. Nelson replies with "Wait, are you on the dev team?", Angry Joe of course says "No", then Maj. says "I thought so."

4 days later they easily just get rid of the DRM. Overall he came off as a bumbling fool you didn't know what he was talking about and when pressed about things their fanbase were concerned about he got all flustered and annoyed.

I wouldn't trust a word that comes out of that man's mouth.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

You can't forget though, Blizzard has a very good track record of not closing it's servers down.
Diablo is what, 17 years old? Servers are still up today.

Microsoft on the other hand closed Xbox Live! for the origional console after a mere 8 years, that's not a good track record.
EA is even worse I suppose...

But essentially it would have killed any retro gaming as even today after almost 20 years you can still pull out the Nintendo/Atari/Sega and play it fine, today.
On the PC you have more "grey area" options, where-as closed platforms, not so much.

That was the only major gripe I had with the system, it got resolved, I'll buy one a little while after launch.

The DRM model they had previously guaranteed either that I would never purchase the XONE or would wait until the console was dirt cheep and new games were dirt cheep too.

None of the pros you listed seemed worth it, or accurate in at least the case of cheaper games. The family share plan thing is completely wasted on me.

The new model means that I will at least consider purchasing the XONE. The $499 is still problematic, but ultimately I think within the year price parity between the XONE and PS4 will probably get better.
