Well the Xbox business hasn't really benefited Microsoft and they stilll haven't recovered the huge loses the first Xbox made so if it were to go, I don't think shareholders will miss it. Besides, only Nintendo makes big profits, the other 2 make loses in the first years and then small profits later on.

So you are the infamous massive MS marketing machine I hear about all the time. Nice to meet you. Would you like me to buy a couple of Windows phones and preorder an xbox1 ?
You know what, I will buy a couple of Win 8 Licences too and Office 365 so you can get even more massive.

What is that message? I don't see a message there. I see a bunch of elements being thrown at a wall, hoping some stick. But, I do not see what the message is.
And just because a lot of money is thrown about, doesn't mean success. There is a statement that has been said: The way to make a problem an expensive problem is to throw a lot of money at it.

for some reason this does not have the same ring has nintendoomed

I expect MS to sell less than PS4 at launch, but i don`t think the cause of that will be DRM.
Even if people don`t like it, truth is, the vast majority of gamers can, without restraints, use the console every single day. And when the big games start coming out, all that DRm talk will become less importante because gamers will realize it really doesn`t affect them that much.
The real problem is the 499 price tag. That`s the real hurdle!
My guess is that MS saw what happened to Sony and how things have turned out for them. And even if XB1 goes the same route, they know it can end well for them.
They also know the impact they can have in the states.
So, in the end, they know what they are sacrificing, but to them - and in my view aswell, it will only hurt them for so long.

so glad that this analysis is not coming from pachter, because then the xbone would be a mulitrillion dollar seller.
