Forums - Sony - Who else is incredibly excited for PS4/Vita Remote Play?

With all of the news around E3, post E3 fallout, and the release of The Last of Us, it's been busy.  With things calmed down a bit, I'm reflecting back on some of the details that may have been glossed over when we were all focusing on DRM, the latest titles, and avoiding Clickers.  In what will be an incredible feat if it works, Remote Play over WiFi via the PS Vita will be supported for all PS4 titles not requiring a special peripheral like the camera.

Shu Yoshida even confirmed this via Twitter:

I can't tell you how excited this makes me as a Vita owner and someone who preordered PS4.

PlayStation fans have been burned on this one before, so a few questions just to drive the conversation:

-Do you think Remote Play on the Vita for the PS4 will work? If so, how well?

-Any functionality concerns?  (i.e. button mapping for L2/R2, L3/R3 or lag)

-Do you think PS4 multiplayer will work via Remote Play due to the increased bandwidth required by the PS4 to not only serve as a host for states/screens and controls for the Vita, but also as a MP client in the game?

Feel free to take the conversation any direction you wish, just interested to hear what others think.

I am!!! I don't really play my PS3 anymore because I'd rather play games on my Vita so being able to play PS4 games on it will solve that problem!

Got my PS4 pre-ordered so If I decide to get one day 1 I'll be set.

Not me, I have to plans to purchasing a vita.

Remote Play is....nice, but unless it can allow me to play my games without an internet connection on Vita I find it a bit pointless. Cross Play to me is the real break out feature. I like the idea of playing a game at home on the big screen, gotta head to work, so I load it up on Vita and keep playing during my commute.

I might find myself using Remote Play if I can have Netflix running on PS4, while running a PS4 game on Vita. Or if it can be utilized like a second screen for multiplayer games (IE:Player 1 use TV, P2 use Vita.

Or

Using Vita as the controller, and being able to utilize the screen for something like Scanning things, sniping, etc.

It seems like a nice feature, but I'm upset that Sony has reduced the Vita to an over glorified controller.

Not me. Although if they could do something like Project Spark on the Xperia Tablet or on the Vita then that could make me purchase one when it becomes cheap.

Not the slightest bit interested. I'm actually disappointed that they didn't mention the ability to play VITA only games on the PS4. The VITA is dead to me until that happens. I'll stick with my PSP.

I am the Playstation Avenger.
