It's probably Miyamoto long rumor new IPs. He did say he wanted to try making a FPS once.

He explored this concept with Metroid Prime when he overlooked development but whatever the game is I feel they need to bring something new to the table. Although they still haven't lost the spark, especially with Pikmin 3 which is my most hyped game coming out for Wii U.

For Metroid Prime he merely suggested it should be in a first person perspective. The one who really overlooked the project was Kensuke Tanabe and don't forget the most important person in a game (like in a movie), it's called a director, Mark Pacini for MP1.

Tanabe also produced (overlooked) most of Retro games notably Donkey kong Country Returns. Also for this game Miyamoto just suggested to remake a donkey kong game, that's all.

People tend to give Miyamoto to much credit lately. As if he directed or personnaly overlooked all recent successful Nintendo games.

The reason Miyamoto gets credit is because he often personally produces the best, defining mechanics in some of Nintendo's greatest games, like spherical worlds and gravity based play in Galaxy. He also initiated the idea for the multiple visor system that was one of the defining aspects of the Prime games, so while the team at Retro did do amazing work, some of the defining aspects of Prime came from Miyamoto.

I hope they announce that the generic 3DLand rehash that has nothing special going for it except for the lame gimicky cat Mario was actualy a joke and that they were working on a true speritual successor to Galaxy and Sunshine before it all along. You know...That masterpiece we were all waiting for, not that lame 3D mario that has been designed with the chaotic unplayable multiplayer a la NSMB in mind.

I know this sounds like I'm trolling, I'm sorry but this is seriously how I feel about this game.

I feel the same way. This is probably the first 3d Mario I have no interest in buying and I've bought them all from Mario 64 onwards.

It's a shame for me because I personally felt NSMBU was a step up from NSMBWii but this new 3D Mario seems like such a huge step back from Galaxy.

Same here and I can't believe I'm saying that.

I thought so. I would say Mario Universe (online) or a whole new IP.

It can't possibly be another Mario lol

maybe an old franchise reborn or something new

I agree with this. EAD Tokyo is done with Mrio for now.

I'm hoping that his team, after completing 3D World, will focus on helping whatever Tokyo Team 1 is doing in time for Holiday 2014.
