Forums - Gaming - I think Micrsoft has a chance to take Sony and Nintendo out this coming gen.

Who is MS aiming to take out this gen?

Nintendo 30 2.73%

Sony 102 9.29%

themselves? 965 87.89%

Total:1,097

That's it how do you change/edit the poll question!!!?

Care to elaborate?

a dissruption the way Nintendo did during the Wii era.

Nintendo created a way to make gaming more accessible for casuals by using a gimmick. This phenomenon caused casuals to flock to gaming for a short period of time and then lose all desire. There is no way what the Xbox One is doing is anything like that. People dont need an Xbox One to control their living room, Microsoft is assuming they do. Nintendo is a commercial brand so they use gaming to bring people in, Microsoft is doing the opposite, so why would people move from what they are currently to buy an Xbox One especially at $500? The Wii launched at an extremely affordable price, thats the other part of why they were so dominant.

I give up...can someone please help me change the poll so I could remove Microsoft on the list..please!!!

But MS is trying to integrate all it's products with the X1 so that mainstream (NOT CORE LIKE YOU OR ME) can easily access gaming thus expanding the market!!!  C'mon isn't there any MS fans that can help me defend the X1 here?  The Sony fanatics are killing our poll!!!

well it's difficult to say.... conceptually Sony and Nintendo are already out.... living in a dying era of gaming and living room entertainment... whether the fans accept it or not Sony is just doing more of the same with more horse power a lot like PC gaming has done and we can see where itis going compare to other market like cellphones and tablets or even consoles.....
For nintendo it's a bit different but still.... MS is future proofing there concept across the board... this has caused already a lot of disruption in people's mind.... for better or for worse....
when you see and understand their vision with all the different businesses hey are in you know they are on the right track and have great concepts to embrace a new era of technology for several decades to come....
the question is, "Is the world ready for it???" right now I would say for the most part they are not.... they are like my grand grandma when they invented the washing machine.... the question is how fast the shift will happen....
and that can happen way faster today than it ever did before... when you see the market penetration of the first radio, then of the first TVs, tape player, cd player, dvd player, cellphone, smartphone, tablets.... you can see how increasingly fast the world can shift....
in 5 years we'll know if MS had the right vision for their business as whole or not.... until then it's pretty tough to say.... but one way or the other.... MS is a behemoth than can take a pounding and get up again and strike back harder.... fan or not a company like MS by its implication and relevance in so many businesses and public services is close to unbreakable....

Well a lot (but not all) of confirmed Xbone fans think Xbone is not going to outsell PS4 (dunno about Wii U). They just think (my interpretation) that the general consumer isn't going to "get" Xbone, and as a consequence they will miss out on the best console ever made (to date, until the Xbone-2).

Yeah!!! Like what endimion just said!!! Best response on this thread yet!  I thought the same thing...I just couldn't elaborate and explain it the way he did.

can we all agree not to call X1 Xbone...it's just wrong and kinda' annoying actually!!!

They could actually.

Not in the first two years though, as price alone will make PS4 the favourite among many to boot. However, if MS can offer it's customers a steam-like service through Live to go along with features like game sharing, and continue to invest in high quality first and third party exclusives....then yes. They could win big.

But that all remains to be seen. All we can say with certainty right now, is that PS4 will outsell X1 going in. What happens a few years down the road....we'll just have to see.
