Forums - Nintendo - Zelda U voiced...in Hylian?

Just had the craziest idea pop into my head. Noticed this while I was playing Animal Crossing with the "language" of the animals being electronic sounds and all, similar to Fi and Midna.

What if Nintendo just made a Hylian language for Zelda and it would be voiced in that language with text still translating it? I mean I may have not liked the characters  but the mystical "voices" they had really had a sense of immersion to them. If they did have to add voice acting to their future games, this would make the localization a lot easier (No need to match lips, just text subtitles)

Feel free to rip this apart. It's just a random idea that I had.

It'd kinda be like watching anime subbed. I don't know what they're saying, but there are subtitles and the "tone?" of the VAs are far better than having to listen to a lip matched weird dub. Just instead of Japanese, we get it in "Hylian". Too hard to do?

Only if Link was still awkwardly silent would I support this notion.

He is mute. Forever.

only if Link stays voiceless lol

I support this idea. Just as long as I can turn it off.

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

Would a voiceless Link fit in a voiced world though?

Part of the reason that voiceless link works in because everyone else is voiceless too. They just all make sounds.

So something like in Lylat Wars. Certainly a better solution than English voice acting, but it's not like Zelda needs voice acting at all. I'd rather have dialogues instead of constant babbling.

I'm getting a mission in Starfox. Is that what you're refering to?

I wouldn't mind a voiceless link, but in a voiced world. It has worked before in proven games like elder scrolls, where you can choose what you say but still remain silent. I also think the next Zelda needs to be an open world in order to progress the series.

I'll take my grunts and muffles any day over voice acting. I doubt voice acting (of practically any kind) would end up well. At the very least, Link should stay silent. And no, that wouldn't be weird if everyone else has voices.

@EricFabian Dude, your avatar is scaring the crap out of me.:O

I don't think Zelda should ever be voiced. It'll be like, Zelda is talking to Link and all he does is shake his head... then again it did work in Dragon Quest 8 didn't it?

As much as I find jibbers from The Sims really irritating, but what NPie said... as long i can turn it off.
