Forums - Nintendo - Super Mario Cats - What Are Your Impressions After Playing It!? <(^_^<)

What if you didn't play it but finshing Super Mario 3D Land and getting to world eight on the bonus worlds before you quit and while it's a decent game, you thought wasn't really that great of a game? The cat suit is just that. Another suit.  Like the Fire Flower, the Raccoon Suit, the Tanooki suit, etc. It doesn't really mean the game will play terribly different or be completely different.

All you had to do is watch the video and see that a lot of the unique level designs are going to just be rehashed like they were in the bonus worlds of Super Mario 3D Land.  And yes.  I didn't get through world eight of the bonus worlds because I didn't want to go back and get a lot of the special coins I missed in order to unlock them.

Like I said, I'm wanting to hear response's from those who have actually played Super Mario Cats. Super Mario 3D Land =/= Super Mario Cats, no matter how similar they may look or they play. And of course they're going to play similarly, all 3D Mario's do. If you want something different, just play a different game. Let Mario be Mario please!

I tried it at a Best Buy near me, and well... it was pretty fun ill admit it. but it just didn't "wow" me like the Galaxy games did. the music was sub par at best, and the art style was bland much like NSMB, and the level design felt a little to strait forward. if it was a 3DS game, it be perfect for it. but for a console game, its not really something I can enjoy all to much for long periods of play. I think it would be more of a party game tbh with the 4 player mode and all.

oh, and yeah the cats are cool and all, but I would much rather see a return of the cape from super mario world, cause it IS called "World" in the title :/

So perfect for a handheld but not enjoyable on a console. That makes 0 sense lol. But anywho, you had fun right and that's the important thing! Also, Cat power >>> every other power.

It isnt so much that the game is BAD it is just that people wanted an open world mario with a free moving camera and not fixed angels.

This game would be a blast on the 3DS i am sure.

I know they locked it so that multiplayer would work locally..

However i think they should have focused on online multiplayer. That way the players have free range to run around all over the level and do quests, or you could all go down the same path. But since you got your own TV the angel limitations do not matter.

Ah, so they just set themselves up for disappointment. I always try not to get hyped or have expectations other than the next Mario will be Mario, the next CoD will be CoD, the next Halo will be Halo, etc. Lowers disappointment or raises amazement. But what's wrong with the camera? Worked fine in SM3DL, works just as well here. You can see all you need to see. And again what's with this better on 3DS stuff? How would the same exact game magically be better on 3DS? o_O

its only copping crap coz it dosent look like a "True" 3D Mario. tbh it looks quite fun but just like NSMB will be a family game. still hoping later in WiiU's life we get an epic and grand 3D Single Player Mario

You see, "no true Scotsman" applies to video games as well.

Because mario 64 has set the stadnard for all 3D marios on consoles. People are expecting free movement and adjustable camera. It is just a mind set, crazy I know but that is the expectation. Just like when Metroi Prime turennd into Metroid Other M. Not that the game was bad but it wasn't what people wanted lol.

3DS has always uses this hybrid 2D/3D fixed style, hence why I think it would suit the 3DS better as one already existed on there.

I've said this quite a few times before. This game is going to be the 1st in a new franchise (2nd if 3dmarioland counts... never played it) and should not be lumped in with galaxy and the like. I'm pretty sure that's why people are hating on it. It's just not what they were expecting. That said i played it and loved it. I can't wait to be able to play through with my friends. While it may bum the galaxy loving crowd out a bit, it was great for me as i haven't liked a single 3dmario game to date. This was different. And to all those will the hand held comments; not all of us are on board with handheld gaming. It's just not a sensible platform for me which is why i've never played 3dland. If you want the new galaxy, you just need to be patient. Can't wait to finally buy a super mario with a combat system to my liking with power ups that aren't just set pieces. :)

Nintendo is clearly doing something new.

*Remember how some asked for that... and still weren't happy :(*

They wil make two 3D Mario's: One multiplayer and one singleplayer.

The multiplayer orientated 3D Mario will launch this december. The singleplayer orientated 3D Mario will come in 2015.
