I don't understand. What are you trying to "defend", exactly?

From the looks of it, that Wii U is getting a steady stream of quality software.

WiiU has more "quality" games thus far than the Wii (and PS3) hence expectations for high quality output should be higher than current perception.

It seems to me that gaming these days is like stock market. It is about perception and not actual facts. Now we are riding the PS4 bubble

That is precisely it.

PS4 bubble? I really don't think PS4 is going to be a serious threat at all. The software isn't there. It's just PC ports and more of the same FPS. Charging for online is going to backfire on them as most of their fan base isn't known for spending a lot of money. Look at PS all Stars for example. On the internet it seemed every PS gamer loved it. In reality very few picked it up. That is because the PS fan base is mainly in the 12-24 year old demographic and most of those people rely on their parents for income, and generally are not as financially stable as older adults are. They can't buy every game even though they talk as if they do.

The PS3 was going to kill the Wii and 360 on day 1. It was going to set record sales and be the hard to find holiday item for Christmas. Reality proved to be completely different as 2 weeks after launch they were collecting dust on store shelves and showing up in pawn shops. I see the same thing with PS4 now so I know its not going anywhere. The PS fan base loves to talk but that is all it is.

Sony might win some casual sales since they designed the PS4 to look like an updated Wii but when those consumer get home and find an inferior experience to what they expected and extra hidden charges they will be turned off.

Perhaps Metacritic is suffering from score inflation over time?

Hypothesis: At the beginning of the gen, average games recieved a 70 but now recieve 75.

Let's make this list up again in a few months and you will see a very different picture. Also alot of those Wii-U games are ports form older games while probably not a single one of the PS3 games are ports.

The problem is that a lot of those games are on other platforms. Wii U right now is getting ports from critically acclaimed games, im pretty sure ps3 and xbox 360 got some quality ports from the previous gen but not as much as wii u is. Another problem for wii u is that the top game (mass effect 3 with 87) has a higher score on xbox 360(93).

excluding ports of games people played a year ago?
