Forums - Sony - Knack And Its Potential Issue I'm Seeing!

I just want to start this off by saying that I'm an individual who is GREATLY looking forward to the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive title, Knack. This is the birth of a new franchise and i see potential in Knack that can make this new addition to the PlayStation family a big hit. It is also the game that I'm most excited for.

Now I'm sure that everybody has seen the new E3 trailer for Knack that was shown during the Sony Press Conference and it looked good! After the E3 conference, there are a wide variety of demos of new games that can be tried out and played. Knack was also one of these demos. Now since i was looking forward to Knack the most, it would be obvious that it was the main game that i wanted to see gameplay from. Upon finding the E3 demo and seeing how things were coming along, i stumbled upon an issue!

Now i know that a lot of people might not notice it but i can spot things like this easily. It's the little things that count most to me.

As i was watching the gameplay, i couldn't help but notice how fidgety and unnatural the gameplay was. It's simply a small issue that can make a BIG impact on the game

It's hard to explain so just take a look at this gameplay and you should notice it as Knack moves and fights

I know you all think i'm crazy but i'm going to also show you a few other games to make it easier to see

Here is gameplay from Ape Escape 3 and Ratchet & Clank on PS2. Now just look at them and pay attention to how fluid and natural the gameplay is. Look at how these characters seemlessly and naturally "mesh" into their worlds

Ape Escape 3

The last example i'm going to show is Crash Bandicoot. Crash Bandicoot is similar to Knack and i just want you to notice again how seemlessly and natural Crash fights and moves around in his world

Go back and compare that to how unnatural Knack seems right now. I'm sure i will probably be the only person who notices it.

This is just a demo so it is possible that this unnaturalness can get kinked and worked out of the final build. I just want for Knack to fight and move around in his world more fluidly and naturally. They probably already are hammering this issue out right now as we speak but still lol.I know good and well that there are some big guys at Sony who stop by the Chartz from time to time regardless of what some people may say.

So yea i hope this gets fixed ASAP because aint nobody got time for a game like this to come out badly.

Does anybody agree? Am i the only one who notices this? Am i just going crazy? Let me know

Yeah, I noticed this a little when I watched it the first time. Can easily be fixed before launch and it still looks really fun to play. And the pixar like graphics looks great to me.

I get what you're saying. Hopefully this isn't an issue at launch.

4 ≈ One

I honestly lost all interest in this title after watching the gameplay.

It looked like it could've been a charming little 3D action-platformer, but the gameplay looks so shallow and clunky here.

(Also, why are his parts unaffected when he goes through the lasers and transforms back? If the parts could automatically move between the lasers in the 1st place why did he need to turn into a crystal?)

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

I think the game look like poo they should be using a less realistic style for the environment also the game seams empty there should be more stuff on screen bad guys or element of the environment moving not just static buildings and crates

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I thought you were going to talk about how this game looks like Sonic Unleashed's night stages. A few transformation abilities aren't going to save this game.

I predict a Metascore of 66 and the creation of a MAJOR flop thread.

Do you think it will reach past +1m sales?  I don't see it selling more than 1-2m.

This game looks good.

I noticed the same thing the way he walks around. Especially the enemies with the paint gun thing. All they do is stand in one spot and do the same thing every 3 seconds. The game seems like it has very poor gameplay mechanics.

Hmm yeah I see what you mean, I dont think this games for me but I do hope it does well.

The only way this game could get past 1m is if it ends up being bundled and/or if there are no alternatives available for up to a year after launch, i.e. if you want non-"mature" content and Knack is the only choice on the PS4. Knack would be disregarded, if there was something like Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction/A Crack in Time, because the game just doesn't look particularly good.

Probably pass +1m with help of PS+ like PSABR (had to google for correct abbreviation) did with heavily discounted on PS+.  Looks like a boring beat them up game.  Somehow far worse than Fighting Force on PS1 which I liked at the time.  Hard to make a good beat them up game these days.  Those games are in the past.  Final Fight, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, TMNT, X-Men arcade, The Simpson arcade, Double Dragon, etc... were top notch beat them ups in past.  Hard to make a button smasher (like Diablo which fizzled with 3) a hit now adays.  P.S. I love Golden Axe
