as all expected i'm sure. early adopters better get there hands on the future of gaming.

i on the other hand (late adopter) will see all in 3 yr.'s. it seems the late adopter is a dieing bread so an earlier purchase may happen.

You never know, The ps4 could go on to be the greatest selling system of all time :/ or it may just pull ps3 numbers.

Sony has not yet announced they will be releasing the PlayStation 4 in Japan and other markets outside the US and Europe. It was just last month that Sony told CVG that Europe will be given a much higher priority since they felt that Microsoft will be giving a strong push in the territory."This E3 we confirmed that in the US and Europe we will be launching this holiday with the $399 (£349) price point," Yoshida told CVG in an interview. "But it's not like we are not launching in other territories - we are waiting to get more information about manufacturing quantities and demand in each market so that we are able to decide where and when outside of the US and Europe."

Japan isn't a priority, and it shouldn't be. MS isn't a threat there and Wii U numbers speak for itself.

This was never announced by Sony just a rumor. It was supposed to be 16 Million in the fiscal year 2013 thats until 31.03.2014 this rumor is and was ridiculous.

Should have read the end of the thread before making my comment... Yes I agree your theory seems entirely plausible to me.

It isn't a theory, it is a point of fact from financials. 


Its pretty obvious that its a fact if the 16 Million forecast actually is true. The 16 Million is a rumor and that theory of his is the only plausible way that this rumor could be true.  So yes its a theory, a theoretical explanation on how its possible that the 16 Million rumor is true.

If you think PS2 is dead now.. PS3 will do about 10 million?

If we look at the Wii-u predictions, they expected to do 4-5 million from launch...with good sentiment on the PS4 its possible that it could do 4-6 million by march... thats probably why they are saying 16 million.

I think it has a very good chance of beating the Wii-u's launch figures, even though it has competition from the XboxOne (remember the wii-u didn't)... So i would say 5-6 million would be a good target.
