Forums - Microsoft - Gamestop apparently doing all it can to push customers away from Xbox One.

isn't the used games stuff on xbox one good for gamestop? it will bring a lot of used games sales from as example ebay to gamestop and game rental services won't compete with gamestop anymore.

sure, they would have to give some of the money to the publisher but i believe gamestop will still profit from that overall.

Not at all..DRM on the Xbox one with the azure system MS put in place Gamestops used game profit in danger, hence why their stocks dropped once everyone found out about MS plan initially.

but they will have a much bigger marketshare after that. many more people have to go to a gamestop now and many more would then also buy their new or used games at gamestop after they got money for their used games from that gamestop.

if it isn't possible anymore to sell or buy you used games on ebay or on a market, you have to go to gamestop or a similar retailer. more people in a gamestop means more people purchasing something.

Nope...it actually renders buying used games pointless. Publishers and MS were trying to force DRM down our throats instead of making their pricing appropriate per game and becoming more competitive with how they make their games. Double Helix's Killer Instinct plan is an example of what I speak of, in which the game is free to play with Jago, but you can either buy the game full price or buy each character one by one. Thank goodness MS got slapped by the core audience because if they dont they will take advantage of not only us but the ignorant majority who MS will now depend upon.

If you guys remember my posts earlier about Gamestop, even though they played along and kept hush, hush about their feelings, I knew deep down inside they had a contingency plan to hike the price up of Xbox One used games on gamers so they could secure a profit on used games. Low and behold Angry Joe spoke about the same thing and I believe Jimquisition spoke about it as well.

well, if you think the option to buy killer instinct as full game or only parts of it, gamestop will be happy to see that more and more games will be full f2p and that for every system. publishers have all options now on xbox one and ps4 and they will surely use them to get their enormous costs back.

ps4 has already blacklight, warframe, planetside 2 and some more f2p games announced. something gamestop won't see a penny for.

Yes, but we're talking mostly microdigital transactions with F2P.  People need to be eased into digital, but I doubt they will relinquish their demand for ownership. Sure we'll buy some small games but the larger games hold value and sometimes arent needed. If you create a game with large amounts of value people wont trade it in as quickly, so MS, EA and Activision need to heed the message. Killer Instinct can still be bought in a box, but thats if you dont feel like choosing an alternate option. They game will be accessible anywhich way, kind of like going to best buy or buying things digitally on itunes, song by song. It works, but I wonder how invested MS is in this for many other games. They shouldnt have messed with used games because publishers are not pricing games accordingly with the utility of each games.

MS tried to screw them so they should screw them right back with no sympathy or remorse. Force policy in an industry that nobody wanted or ask for, while at the same time causing harm to retailers used games revenue stream. REALLY?
No video game retailer should be picking sides, but i am not mad at GS for doing this, not one bit.

Odd, because it's rare for me to go into Gamestop and not hear them employees constantly bash PS3.

Microsoft creates anti-used game console, game-stop sells, used games, PS4 does not have same anti used game policy, Game-stop pushes the PS4 (and WiiU).

Simple as that.

This is the Game of Thrones

Never heard console bashing from employees of any store ever. Can't that get you fiered?

It's in their best interest, given how cumbersome used games are gonna be with XB1, and how identical with consoles today on PS4.
Being a "select retailer" will take its cut, as well.

Nice work, though. This DRM stuff cannot be allowed to stand, and GS is indeed mass game consumer oriented.

No they're not.  They're profit orientated.
