Forums - Sony - Next gen of Water!!!

There has always been an attatchment between me and water physics. I am fascinated by tsunami's the power needed to create them. When I played my first game on my first computer build (Crysis) I would just for fun throw a ton of nukes into the water. Too bad the water didn't do anything. Then I got resistance 2. The water propogation in that game is 2nd to none even though it looked like goop. And since then there has been no games that did water correctly I was hoping to get something from "next gen" bf3 but that game's water is crap as is Crysis 3's and its one wave size fits all model. Then during e3 in the ps4 conference I saw something and I got SUPER HYPED. The water in Watch Dogs simulates water almost perfectly. If you check out the video starting from 6:30 wou can see what I mean :D

I put this in the Sony thread because gameplay is from ps4 footage. Though now I think about it it should have been in the gaming discussion section Sorry!

the video wasn't working when I first checked thread.. :P

But thanks!

Are you talking about the rain in the video? I think Super Mario Sunshine had the best water physics of the last 2 generations

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

remember the scene in final fantasy x when they where filling up the dome with water? i was like... this game is unreal!

the water effects already look good in uncharted 2&3..though on the next gen they do look better!

When I say water physics I am talking about water propogation of the ripples and waves it produces when you shoot a bullet, rpg, throw a grenade, walk through it etc... Almost every game has had a one wave fits all model for it and Watch Dogs seems to want to end that streak.
