I think it's a big error. You can't let Nintendo get a foothold in Japan. If it launches after Mario Kart it's all over really.
Complete reversal from the Vita launch, then. Shows the type of games they're going for as well.

You can when you have a mainline FF and KH game. Especially since NSMBWiiU didn't help the WiiU much.
Not so cool. Seems both, sony and microsoft releasing a little bit too early for christmas season. Let's hope the quality of the hardware is fine, and it's all about the quantity.
I also hope that for AMD since they really can't handle the situation of mass hardware failure, financial wise.

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:
WiiU: Donkey Kong
XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse
I would like to see them launch everywhere. Japan fans have been good to sony consoles so I wouldnt like to see them get abandoned. Still I prefer an early launch in EU (and US).

NSMB was never going to though. And those two games are not exclusive and most likely won't be out for years. At which point if the system is struggling it will be too late to save.
Assuming two games (I don't see KH3 doung much long term) which are neither exclusive nor coming anytime soon will be the reason that the PS4 will suceed is optimistic.
Also, we can assume from this that if it launches in Japan there is a lower demand than expected?
Luckily it isn't region locked!! It also makes this thread hilarious.

Kind of goes to show how insignificant both companies consider Japan to be now with home consoles. The home console userbase has dwindled so significantly in Japan that even Sony is willing to sacrifice its launch to put units towards bigger markets. Japan really is only a 3DS territory now.

Why was NSMBWiiU never going to help the WiiU?
Also, given that the XboxOne isn't going to be released in Japan, those games are exclusive to the PS4 in that region.
