Even IGN's advertisements thought it was a 3DS port.

At least they didn't give it a 3DS Box Art and say it was a 3DS game. I wouldn't expect much less from IGN, at times.

Nintendo already said that when they were making Mario 3D Land they were also seeing the possibilities for a Wii U game. Ideas that didn't made the cut for the 3DS are now being used for 3D World. 

This game is basically 3D Land 2, which is very sad.

Edit: the only thing that would make me kinda forgive this game is a huge overworld where you can enter the levels at your will. Highly doubt that will be the case.

I'm 99% sure that there won't be a hub. The other 1% is my inner fanboy expecting a miracle, but I'm planning on killing it once and for all.

This game is pretty much 3D Land 2. So, the whole premise is pretty much the same, but it's not like it's some lazy port. You're right. 

Unlike other people, I see nothing wrong with this. It looks good and since SM3DL had great gameplay, I expect this to have that also.

It's fine as it is, but myself and others think it might replace a fully produced 3D Mario for the Wii U.

i was so dissapointed to hear when they announced super mario 3d world. i was so hoping for the big 3d mario game, evan though i will still buy 3d world and have fun that big 3d mario is what i am hoping for.

I've noticed that. If it does replace something like Sunshine for the GameCube or Galaxy for the Wii, then I get it. But if this is just an alternative 3D Mario game, then I think we're in a great place. 3D Land sequel and a chance at a masterpiece of a 3D Mario game? I say that's perfection.

Whats wrong with expanding the 3D land/world franchise. Its very popular on 3DS, its best selling game to date i think. It looks good, nice bold graphics, cat suit looks interesting and the trailer showed a lot of nice ideas. Im glad they didnt try and do another galaxy...keep trying different things Nintendo.
