What are some of you your favorite 8-bit games that had great music, despite the technological limitations.

I would have to say (not suprisingly) Mega Man 2 in particular, but all the Mega Man games in general. I am really amazed at what Capcom was able to do with 2 Square waves, a triangle wave and a noise chan.

I am a Gauntlet Adventurer.

I strive to improve my living conditions by hoarding gold, food, and sometimes keys and potions. I love adventure, fighting, and particularly winning - especially when there's a prize at stake. I occasionally get lost inside buildings and can't find the exit. I need food badly. What Video Game Character Are You?

My all time favourites are the main theme from The legend of zelda and two songs from the megaman serie: Willy's stage theme from megaman 2 and the tomahawk man stage from mega man 6, but the megamans from NES in general had the best songs, even comparing them with today games :P.

Gyruss, Mr.Do!'s castle, and moon patrol on the atari 2600 are all really impressive music wise considering the 2600 didn't have a dedicated sound processor

Thunder castle on the intellivision has some pretty good music as well

Wiley's Stage (1 and 2) from Mega Man 2 is probably the best video game music ever.

Megaman 2 is awesome. If you really want to be impressed by how much musical depth can be achieved by a pair of square waves and a triangle wave, download the music from the Japanese Final Fantasy 2 (for the NES/Famicom).

Gauntlet was always one of my favorites. Some groovy stuff going on there.

Ninja Gaiden 2 had the best opening music of any NES game.

The Battle of Olympus had some great ancient-sounding music.

The Guardian Legend gets the adrenaline pumping every time.
