If people didn't import games, then most people wouldn't have played some Japanese-only released games like the Super Robot Wars series, Osu tatakae Ouendan series or the Taiko no Tatsujin games. Plus some people can read Japanese, and using the menu doesn't require too much mastery of the language itself.

It just seems like it wouldn't be beneficial. I could understand that since most Europeans can understand English why you would get it from NA, but from Japan???

My vote, get a NA Wii and just import the NA titles if you really can't wait the few extra months.

While text heavy games can be an issue, there are plenty of Japanese games where text is very minimal. Even a basic understanding of Japanese can get you through a lot of these games.

For the more heavy ones, the more popular games usually end up with translation guides on gamefaqs.

some people (the ones who only import) will get screwed over by this which is unfortunate, but im personally glad because the majority of people who chip their wiis do it so they can download games for free. they deserve to get f***ed over.

Aw, poor modders are going to have to actually pay for their games.

And don't give me the bullshit that you use it only for backups and imports. Even if you did (which I firmly believe you don't) you're still supporting the people that make piracy possible so you're still 100% part of the problem.

I hope the next big game bricks your console so Nintendo can laugh in your faces.

what is "wiikey"? Is it a modded wii?
and even if u can play brawl with a Japanese copy, u won't bhe able to get the "full" experience because it's still in a foreign language (unless u can speak Japanese of course)

Well actually the Iphone tries to block you from doing something which you are legally allowed to do in the US and that is unlock your phone. Jailbreak I sort of understand because of their SDK but when they were initally blocking it there were no announced plans for an SDK and no apps for sale now that they plan to introduce pay to own programs for the Iphone I am not bothered by the attempts to block Jailbreak.

 As much as modchips may be used for piracy, I have very little sympathy for companies that create artificial markets purely to boost profits. Given I'm from a country where modchips are legal as long as they contain deregioning functionality, the companies themselves contribute to their own problem by releasing regioned products here.
