Forums - Gaming - What will happen with Sony DRM, and why it's way better than Xbone

So has the PS4 absolutely no-DRM ? It was impossible given the current situation and pressure from big publishers, lobbies and such.

But the PS4 will work it the way the Xbox One should have

- If you buy a disc, you can play absolutely as intended and Sony can't lie/backtrack on that : you'll be able to play it without checking regularly online, then you'll be able to lend it or sell it. There might some initial online installation/validation (which I'm not a fan of).

- However, if you buy digital, it'll probably change : if you play a digital version of the game, it might check online for update and then verify it, and their might be some digital used market where you can sell the game to get a little return on investment/credits, but the publisher or platform takes a small cut or fee from the digital game you sold to someone else.

Around the Network

I think that is a reasonable summary. On those slides, it clearly said "disc based games"

Having said that, I don't see why Sony would require you to check in online for digital games? I know phones and tablets do (which is a pain), but the PS3 and Vita certainly don't and I don't see why that would change.

It would be nice if there were a trading service online, but I don't think that will happen at launch. Microsoft have vaguely talked about it, so Sony will probably want to do something similar to stay competitive as digital downloads become more important

Nothing about low IQ? Disappointed again blublibla.
