Well, I saw the trailer for the new DK on Wii U and I must say it looks amazing. Retro is a very talented studio to revive a series and transform it into that. I expect great things from this title.

Look Metroid is no longer one of the big three. Metroid is out (in the freezer apparently), and DK is in.
It's on like Donkey Kong :).

Because Nintendo has a creativity crisis. All we get are Mario 3D, Mario Bros, Zelda, Pikmin, DK, Yoshi, Kart, Smash...
They even recycle old games of these franchises. WW remake, Super Mario 3D looks like a Mario Bros, seriously, after playing SM Galaxy 1 and 2, 2 of the best games ever made, this is a BUMMER.
I would say the same about Playstation if we'd only get Gran Turismo, Crash, Spyro, Syphon Filter, Twisted Metal and Medievil since 1995. But we don't. That's the difference.

Your last paragraph demonstrates a thing that some people have expressed all sorts of grumpiness about, at least where certain forgotten series are concerned.
You can't convince me or these people that leaving all that behind for a new lick o' paint is the best path.

People think their lazy cause a 2d side scroller requires half the effort of a 3d game, plain and simple. Were well into the 21st century, 2d side scrollers should be a for a niche audience and i don't care how the camera spins, it's still a side scroller. a studio like retro should devote their resources to something more intense. I suspect they are, and rather than being lazy their just making two games at once.

Oh, come on. Why exactly is Nintendo the only company not allowed to develop remakes? Unlike most other companies they also actually improve the game they choose to remake instead of just increasing the resolution.

they ARE allowed. Nothing against those franchises. They are great. But they could at least evolve and play different than in the past. Skyward Sword, best example, still no spoken dialog in 2011. Come on.
I like playing Nintendo games, I played a lot on the Wii, even if it wasn't my main console. And I don't want those franchises to be gone, but I also want something NEW.

Huh, 6 million sales is niche? Almost 5.5 sales at full price :D.

Donkey Kong Country Returns underwhelmed me, and i've been saying for years that it was a waste of time and resources. This game looks even worse
